    I always like watching Marty and the Superlatives. Marty is always willing to let another step up to the mic and shine while he plays in the back. There are bigger bands, but none are better.

    Marty Stuart has definitely mastered the B-Bender and gives us the spirit of Clarence White every time he plays his guitar.

      In part that's because the spirit of Clarence is in that guitar.

    It is so fun to guess and be correct that some drummers play guitar. Mr Stinson is the consummate musician.

    Saw them again at Florida Theatre in Jacksonville last night. They never disappoint. That is the 1954 Fender Telecaster that was owned by Clarence White, that played on the original recording by the Byrds. Clarence and Gene Parsons rebuilt the guitar so that Clarence could bend the B string and sound more like a steel guitar. To do that he had to pull down on the guitar neck, and a spring lever built into the guitar strap would bend the B string. Watch at 1:48 when Marty pushes down on the neck and listen for the sound it makes.

    This is not a tune that comes to mind often but when I run across it, whether in my cd collection or elsewhere, I'm
    always captivated by it. This is a reputable version but I feel the tune belongs to Roger McGuinn.

    • @stevecarle8851
      @stevecarle8851  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Bob Dylan scribbles "The river flows, it flows to the sea/Wherever that river goes, that's where I want to be/Flow, river, flow" on to a napkin, before telling Peter Fonda to "give this to McGuinn. He'll know what to do with it."

    • @mitchgawlik1175
      @mitchgawlik1175 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@stevecarle8851 McGuinn certainly did. If someone could only convince Roger that "Turn Turn Turn" is not necessarily
      the top song in his repertoir.

    The Fabulous Superlatives deserve the name. Each one IMO are better than good vocalists and as for as instruments again the bands name says it all. Oh and that guy that plays with em he ain't to bad either.
