  • I want to unify all chamfers on my future planes. The best solution is a special tool for that job - double chamfer plane.
I've never seen a double side escapement plane with one blade, it looks a little bit weird from below, but works perfect :)
I hope you will like it, regards!
    Materials:
    piece of beech wood
rebate/rabbet plane blade made by E.C.E.
    boiled linseed oil
    liquid parafine
    shellac orange
If you have any questions or sugestions just write a comment.
    Enjoy!

Admirable!

Dear Stavros, I enjoyed this video and would like to emulate your design for one of my own. What I don’t recall seeing is the final blade and its fitment in the sole. I can’t work out what it looks like and how it fits to plane. What I did see is a blade ground straight across as in a chisel. I guess that would work. Cheers.

I had to go back at minute 3:20 and brood a couple of minutes to understand.
Let's see if I get it: the resulting chamfer will be at 30° on the vertical side. With two mirrored channel you can reverse the cut when you are chamfering an edge and you are cutting across the grain. Am I right?
PS: Good job. In the next months I would like to build some molding plane, and I love beech. Do you think is the right wood for a molding plane?
    PPS: thanks for sharing. :)

    • @StavrosGakos
      @StavrosGakos  4 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes, you got the point. That's how it works :)
Beech is good choice, just use straight-grained quarter sawn blank, and make the sole on the bark side.
      Good luck:)
