Gives a whole new meaning to the term "hand made." I am at a loss to say just how impressed I am. If there was a world wide contest on hand made "things", you would be hard to bet against.
While serving an engineering apprenticeship in the 1960’s in England, I had to learn the skills of filing, hand cutting with a hacksaw, drilling, including sharpening by hand to the correct angle, etc, it took many months to acquire those skills and some of the test pieces we made as apprentices were used to mark our City and Guilds examinations. Once we had learned to file flat and square, and mark out and drill accurately, we would then progress to using machine tools. The instructor at the tech college told us that the tools we had mastered plus a cold chisel could manufacture almost anything. Watching you use your skills to such an excellent level it would appear that instructor was correct. Thanks for posting it brought back many memories.

I am extremely impressed by the very precise level of control that you have with hand tools to achieve very accurate results... More than most can achieve with power tools. Until I saw your video I would have said it would have been literally impossible to make by hand a wood plane that is comparable and even slightly better than the high quality machine made tools from the likes of Neilsen, Record and and Veritas. Having read the other comments on this video, not many of them really recognise and appreciate the very high level of your skill, knowledge and the quality of your workmanship. I will go as far as to say no one is worthy to offer you any criticism at all. Truly, you are a Master craftsman.

Your craftsmanship is top notch. Your editing is perfect! You don't show any more than you need to of each step of the process. Trust me when I say that your doing it right when, "I don't skip portions of your 20+ minute video," and that also says A LOT about your content in general. There's something extra satisfying about all the hand work you put into your beautiful creations. I have a Stanley no.40 and yours is gorgeous! I love watching you make things. It's very satisfying and entertaining. There is something to be said for making something like this from mostly simple hand tools. When people start busting out the many-thousand-dollar milling machines and CNC tables it just loses its relatability and charm.

Not absolutely perfect perhaps, but really close. Having watched how effortlessly you made that entire process look, I’m beginning to think that perhaps you Stavros, might have a few extra bones in your bottom that the rest of us don’t have. I’m in awe of you. It’s a pleasure to watch you at work. The only downside for me is the lack of a dimensioned plan to look at, but that’s a real small downside. Well done.

I use a No. 5 sized Stanley Handyman plane as a scrub plane. It cost me all of a dollar to buy.
