It breaks my heart that the people who love you didn't appreciate your artistic vision. The painting of the young woman with blank eyes doesn't look the least bit unfinished, and I intuitively understood the message as soon as I looked at it. It filled me with sadness and wistfulness and a deep appreciation for the tragic beauty of the piece. You're an incredibly talented, creative soul and I hope you're able to return to art one day. But even if you don't, I am so grateful you chose to share these with us. A true gift, just like you.

Art is subjective. I'm not surprised that there are those who don't appreciate it; but what Did surprise me is how hard she was on herself with self criticism. These could be masterpieces. Clearly, a lady of many creative talents.

"No Dawn For my Soul," - first of all, you did not miss the mark. This painting is HAUNTING and captivating, and I am in awe. People (myself included,) would pay $$$$ for this piece and I'd never let anyone leave without seeing it. From one artist to another, people who get it, get it. The rest may not get it, but they aren't YOUR audience, and that's okay.

    • @danielgratz4977
      @danielgratz4977 2 ปีที่แล้ว +43

THIS-so very much how I feel. I was shocked when she spoke of others thinking it unfinished-I forget how differently others can percieve works of art. I hope you will consider asking more people to view that painting. It will not be difficult to find those who will connect immediately with it.

“No dawn for my soul” was actually my favourite and I think it’s perfectly ironic in the best way that your family and friends always remarked that the eyes were undone. If the eyes are truly the windows to our soul, then you captured exactly what you wanted to ! They noticed her lack of a soul, just as you wished to paint it.

The way you speak about some of these paintings makes me wonder about support you received from friends, and whether the lack of it is why you gave up on painting, especially with "No Dawn For My Soul". From the moment it appeared on camera, I had no doubt that the eyes not being painted was intentional. Sorry that you had to go through that. At first when I saw the thumbnail, I thought the “my paintings” referred to ones you own/have purchased. When you said you were going to show us paintings you’ve made, I audibly gasped. Then when you showed your first one, my jaw dropped. These are so amazing! I genuinely can’t put words to how stunning your work is! You’re beautiful, you are great at ASMR, you have amazing cinematography skills, you can paint; I mean seriously, do you have any flaws?
Edit: okay I just got to the part with the soulless girl and I’m so sorry everyone close to you made you hate this beautiful piece of work. When I saw it, I immediately thought the lack of eyes was symbolic and thought provoking. I’m sorry that happened to you and I hope it didn’t influence your decision to stop painting.

Dear Diane, No Dawn for My Soul is so hauntingly beautiful. My impression is that she was a beautiful woman who is slowly turning into a marble statue, perhaps because she sold her soul in order to remain outwardly beautiful, and now she will remain beautiful but it's because she will become a cold marble statue and be preserved forever. Diane, if you made prints of that painting I believe they would sell very well. The painting itself would sell too.

@@Avariceasmr the sad reality is that this is how a lot of artists end up. as an artist myself, with each year that my art seems to stagnate in progress, and each year that it fails to garner attention or land me a job, i feel myself getting closer and closer to just calling it quits too. it takes a lot of time and energy to paint/draw, oftentimes with little to no reward for devoting that much of your resources to your craft. it really takes a toll on you.

"No dawn for my soul" is a masterpiece Diane. I'm not even an artist, but I can see how much detail and time went into it. The way the shawl sits and folds at her elbow, the delicate lining to her top... plus all the details at the back. The dark, dropping trees in the back really do a lot to enhance the scene and add to the emotion you're trying to convey.

Oh my goodness. I have to say that 'No dawn for my soul' really spoke to me. It is hauntingly beautiful. It's very easy to be critical of your own work & whilst I am certainly no art critic, I unequivocally do not agree with most of the criticism you are leveling against your art. I love the collection of acrylics on paper. Especially 'Samhain's Night'. In an ideal world I would love to have a print of that to give to my husband!

    Your works are thought provoking.
You have skill that many might never have. No piece is a failure , its a milestone. We might not like it but that doesnt mean its not worthy to hold a place in our journey as artists. Please dont be discouraged by others opinions. Showing your work can be like bearing your soul especially on social media. I hope that you'll find that we love your art just as we love you and your asmr.Thank you for sharing and creating these videos.

Everyone in the comments is right. That painting is absolutely gorgeous. Your paintings scream attention to detail and passion. Every stroke is like a beautifully crafted sentence! If people were so preoccupied with the 'missing eyes', they weren't looking at it in the right way. I think she looks absolutely heart-rboken, and if you had added some 'normal' eyes, it would've not given off the same haunting feeling it does like this.

no dawn for my soul looks like a painting I'd see in a museum and I'd stop and stare at it for a long time feeling many emotions and thinking a lot. but never would I think the artist just 'didn't paint the eyes' or 'didn't finish it'. it's beautiful and haunting and I love it.

Do not put your art down it is absolutely incredible, as an artist myself I hope to one day be able to create oil paintings as great as these. When I was younger I hated my own paintings and I burned a few of them. Looking back now I regret it because I realise now that they were better than I thought. I have tried to recreate them but you can't paint the same thing twice especially when you have to use memory as a reference. You have created amazing art and in years to come I do believe they will be worth quite a bit of money as there are not many people in this day and age who paint with that level of skill.

i understand that people's critics and comments can affect others eventually, and that is crucial especially in art, but i do hope you paint for yourself first, before for others' eyes. because these are exceptionally beautiful paintings, it's like something out of a storybook. i hope you could take up painting again someday, much love to you

Oh my goddness, these are amazing! I know an artist is always most critical about their own pieces, but really - very impressive! I LOVE the one depicting a woman who lost her soul. (And I feel you - other people misreading your intentions in artworks can be frustrating...)

Oh my goodness Diane. You are an amazingly talented person. From your wonderfully detailed and atmospheric ASMR videos to your harp playing and now you are an wonderfully talented artist. What else are you hiding and have yet to reveal to us? I also hope you feel able to take up your brushes again some time, as it seems a shame to have such a talent and not use it. So many of us would love to have even half your gifts. I’m amazed, surprised and delighted every time I see a new posting from you. Thank you for sharing all the beauty you create with us. Wow! The lost soul did not go lost on all of us. My first thought was that she had suffered some sort of tragedy and I could feel the pain, so I was surprised to hear you say that people said the eyes were incomplete. I did not take it that way at all. I think you captured what you intended to do and you did it beautifully!

“No dawn for my soul” is a beautiful painting, regardless of what others say❤️It feels so “real” in a way, I can almost feel the woman’s lifelessness. It’s impactful & emotional, I truly love it! I can really identify with this painting as it reminds me of a time in my life when I was severely depressed, I feel like this painting perfectly depicts what it felt like to be depressed & I love that. I love identifying with art even if it’s in a sad way because somehow it makes me feel better about life☺️❤️
