Hey guys and welcome to todays video where we are kicking off the content in 2025 by talking all things hyperpigmentation. I would love to know your thoughts on this video so let me know in the comments below.. Love you all and wishing you a very happy new year.. love x
Hey Rob, in spite of 'FOMO', I will wait for your MAS duo serum. The older I become the more I need treatment for hyper-pigmentation. Sending much love to you and the fur babies and wishing you a wonderful year ~ Love ~ Paula
I started using 20% AA on my derm's recommendation for rosacea 2 years ago, then switched to 15%, and it'll never leave my routine now! I'm in Australia and was using Azclear 20%, however it is NOT cosmetically elegant so I switched to Finacea 15% and never looked back. Finacea has a superior delivery system and the literature shows it works better than Azclear, despite being at a lower concentration. I use it every single night and most mornings because it pairs so well with everything. I use it alongside tret, copper peptides, most acids, vit C. All of my old PIH is gone and my PIE clears up within days instead of weeks/months now. My hormonal acne is now minimal; when I do get a breakout, it's only 1 or 2 small pimples, and they heal faster despite me only using BHA once a month. I also have Multiple Sclerosis as well as rosacea, both cause flushing. AA has helped my facial flushing and redness more than anything else. I love AA and recommend it to everyone 😅
So, too many years of thinking I could get a tan and having very pale Irish skin, I have brown spots all over. Twice I have had a skin peel. I could only take two rounds of it each time before I wanted the neutralizer and wanted it fast! They did fade but when I took a selfie of my profile, they really showed up! So here I am ready to order your goodies.
I know the struggle hun, I didnt always use sunscreen and I think thats caused some of the issues I have today - Its never too late though and I think the products in this video have helped me get on top of things without costing too much.. love x
I have been working on hyperpigmentation under my left eye for quite a while. Never was a sun bather. I think it is the result of not wearing sunscreen for years and car sun. So alright, I'll give this one a go.
Melasma sufferer here. I've been using the Eucerin anti-pigment serum (dermatologist's recommendation) for a couple of months... the perfume is really strong and I'm not really impressed with the results so far. I have the products so I'll add your hack, plus I'll be waiting to try your serum!!!
I feel like there is lots of confusion when it comes to “hyperpigmentation” and “dark spots.” Clearly there are many forms of hyperpigmentation but for the over 50 crowd who doesn’t have acne or redness anymore, I’m not sure that investing in azelaic acid is worth it. If you’re suffering from dark spots that have been caused by decades of sun exposure, is that the same as dark spots caused from acne? No one seems to really talk about this without lumping them together. Are there any studies on this and is it just a pipe dream to think that topical skin care can lighten or even erase years of sun damage? Thanks, Rob!
I couldn’t agree with you more. I have age spots/dark spots , whatever you want to call them. I have used vitamin c, azelaic acid, Arbutin, and at the moment I’m trying copper peptides. Honestly none of these have made any difference to them. I must admit, l did use hydroquinone on my hands for a few months this and it did remove the age spots from them, but the downside was my fingernails turned an awful yellow colour. I stopped using it once figuring out they were turning yellow from the hydroquinone. I can’t imagine what it would have done to my face.
I think they get lumped together because the processes within the skin that produce hyperpigmentation are the same (the production of melanin, the transfer of melanin, etc.), regardless of the underlying cause. So interrupting those processes can help any type of hyperpigmentation. BUT hyperpigmentation can be deep within the skin, or it can be relatively superficial. That, and other factors I’m sure, make some kinds of hyperpigmentation much, much more stubborn than others. It seems like age spots from cumulative sun damage and melasma are among the most stubborn, so it may not be possible to get results from these cosmetic ingredients. Prescription retinoids and hydroquinone seem to be the primary topical ingredients for those types of hyperpigmentation. Azelaic acid, tranexamic acid, niacinamide, etc. seem to be helpful when you are already using at least a retinoid, but I don’t feel like they do much on their own for stubborn hyperpigmentation. I used arbutin and niacinamide on old (stubborn) post-acne dark marks for a couple of years and didn’t see any significant improvement. Now I prioritize my retinoid above all else (which is currently adapalene because of my acne). After a year and a half of daily use, I have seen a lot of improvement with a little patch of sunspots that appeared about four years ago, so they probably weren’t as stubborn as spots that have been there longer. That’s my $0.02 anyway.
Tranexemic acid never did much for my skin even when I paired it with Azelaic acid. Now Azelaic acid plus a high percentage alpha arbutin serum? GAME CHANGING
Hello Rob I’ve been using theramid az as per your reco and I loooooove it I pair it with “the dose” serum from Victoria’s health that contains kojic acid and alpha arbutin at night and I use naturium vit.c in the morning and retinal from G&G at night also all per your reco thank you so so much my skin is definitely getting brighter and the spots (mild melasma on cheeks) are fading slowly but surely! Can’t wait for your serum to come out 🙏 congrats from France 🇫🇷 😘
Great video, thank you Rob! I just finished my loved Theramid Azid, and now started Dr SAM's Brightly 10% Azelaic serum, but I'm really waiting for MAS Azelaic + Tranexamic acid serum! ❤Ciao! 😊
Thanks so much for this. Always had acne but never dealt with long-term hyperpigmentation. Unfortunately I had a terrible reaction after eating far too much wakame seaweed over a short period (bowls of it!), taking in far too much iodine and triggering something like a cystic acne eruption that has left me with small scars and prolonged hyperpigmentation. 😮 This combination is not one I've tried, but I certainly will now. Thanks so much!
I'm a newer subscriber. I really appreciate your honesty and that you don't do skincare sponsorships. However, I find u don't mention your line enough! I only found out about it from the comment section! You should at least link it in every description, I mean it 💙💙 I doubt most of your viewers would mind 💙🗽🇺🇸
Oh thank you so much hun and thank you for all your support and for subscribing.. I think thats a great idea to link it more clearly so thank you so much for the suggestion.. love x
I have had a lot of leg vein work and yes you are right… dark spots developed where each injection was placed. One ugly thing replaces another. Frustrating. Thankx ❤
very interesting. I am very new to exfoliating. I just bought the Prequel Multi Acid Milk. I will use it up then give this combo a try because sun damage is my main concern. Thank you for sharing!
Hi Rob! Thank you for another great video! Your recommendations changed my skin quality for the better dramatically over the last year and a half. I do have some spots and I believe tretinoin and azelaic acid from G&G keep helping me diminish their appearance and prevent new ones from forming sending love from NY ❤️🙏🏼🌈
CAN'T WAIT for the MAS duo when you launch! In the meantime, can you advise on the order of the products you suggest to marry up? Where would this fit in in terms of say The Ordinary hydration serum, G & G Vit C and power Peptides and the MAS anti oxidant? I'm guessing the most 'watery' first? However, I always feel that I want my Vit C slapped on asap in my routine to get it working it's magic. Your thoughts would be great while you're drinking your evening cuppa?! xxx
Rob! This video got me so damn excited!! I wait eagerly for your new product to launch gosh! My issue is hyperpigmentation and right now I am using VT reedle shot, VT Tx-Toning Essence 2000 shot, Nineless Azelaic Acid, and K-Secret Seoul 1988 Retinal! Sounds like too much huh!😄♥
Azelaic acid to treat hyperpigmentation is news to me. I've been using it for a little over a year now, and the spots are still there. The azelaic acid was recommended to treat my rosacea, thou, now under control, but it did nothing for anything else. I learn something everyday.
For the tranexamic Acid I'm using ANUA, and it works really well. Have you heard about that one? I've never used azelaic acid; I'll check that THERAMID one...
Hi Rob! I have been using the Theramid AZID serum in my PM routine along with G & G Retinal 2.0 for several weeks with no issues. Can I add the Naturium to this routine? I’m always cautious with acids and actives because I have gone in throwing caution to the wind in the past and damaged my skin barrier. Right now, following your advice, using several of your MAS products along with several of your other product recommendations, my skin is in a pretty good place and I want to continue improving it with well aging products and routines. I will be 58 on Feb. 1st, and much of my hyperpigmentation (although it’s not severe) still comes from adult acne! 🤣🤣 I am a few years post menopausal and do “all the things” but still get the occasional breakout even though my skin tends to be mostly normal vs oily. 🥰🇨🇱🥰🇨🇱
Morning Rob and Happy New Year. I presume you can use these acids on certain areas only like larger sun spots rather than all over the face. ? Just a thought.
I give a thumbs up before watching because I'm sure it's relevant! Thanks a lot for your guidance😊. I'm using azelaic acid by Theramid,I totally agree with you,it's excellent.what do you think about the azelaic acid and tranexamic acid by Facetheory ?
In my 20s, I had freckles. SPF was not what it was now. I still have one big freckle on my nose and that bothers me. I use the geek and gorgeous aPad and the Vegreen tranexamic acid combined with licorice root
Note book soon as I click. Alpha arbutin was no good for me, I'd had ipl and thought too dear, for the number of times Id want it, tret, tret, tret. Wishing you and the subscribers a happy year ahead. ❤ Ps I'm scribbling and typing. Multitasking!
I love both.. I think the allies one is more advanced but you are paying more for it so I would say the ordinary one I amazing for the price point. love x
Awww thank you so much hun your support means a lot.. Face Theory do a great 5% which I love, Superdrug here in the UK have their own brand one which is also amazing.. Hope this helps xx
0:42 into this video always makes me laugh 😂 if you're not gate keeping a secret, then I am going to sit up lean forward and take notes 😮 the very last thing I am going to do is "Sit back & Relax" 😅
Hey Rob, just to fill you in and this is probably not much use to most viewers Dermatica does their highest strength (0.1%)tretinoin serum with 15% azeleic acid and 5% tranexamic acid -it is the one I use but I imagine most people will never be able to tolerate this strength of tretinoin. Still , I just thought I’d let you know about it…..💝😊
Really LOVE YOUR CHANNEL!! So great to get real, honest advice, knowing its completely unbiased. ❤Thanks so much. Best thing to use with - EGF? HAPPY NEW YEAR! 🎉

Hei Rob. Happy New Year! Is the new serum free of malassezia folliculitis triggering ingredients?😍
Hey Rob, in spite of 'FOMO', I will wait for your MAS duo serum. The older I become the more I need treatment for hyper-pigmentation. Sending much love to you and the fur babies and wishing you a wonderful year ~ Love ~ Paula

Thank you so so much hun.. I cant wait for people to be able to use it.. love x
Hi Rob, ordered the Naturium Tran acid. When prompted to know how i heard about it, of course, I typed MAD ABOUT SKIN.
oh thank you so so much hun I appreciate that so much.. love x
So, too many years of thinking I could get a tan and having very pale Irish skin, I have brown spots all over. Twice I have had a skin peel. Retinal, tretinoïne and dr idriss products help with hyperpigmentation. To keep new hyperpigmentation away azalaic acid helps 😊@@melmil9836

Happy New Year hun - wishing you all the best for 2025 xx
Great advice as always rob x
Thank you so much hun x
Rob what about the nineless tranexamic acid. I like their Azelaic acid so I want to give the TXA a try
I love it, its a little lower strength than the one in the video but it will still work in the long run.. love xx
For the tranexamic Acid I'm using ANUA, and it works really well. Have you heard about that one?
I've never used azelaic acid; I'll check that THERAMID one...
I havent heard of that one but I will check it out for sure - thanks for the heads up.. love x
hi can you suggest few good moisturiser for oily acne prone skin? please suggest affordable options too
Morning Rob and Happy New Year. I presume you can use these acids on certain areas only like larger sun spots rather than all over the face. ? Just a thought.
Hello hun and happy new year :) - yes indeed these can be used on any part providing there is not too much sensitivity.. love xx
I give a thumbs up before watching because I'm sure it's relevant! Thanks a lot for your guidance😊. I'm using azelaic acid by Theramid,I totally agree with you,it's excellent.what do you think about the azelaic acid and tranexamic acid by Facetheory ?
Oh thank you so so much for your support hun... I love the FaceTheory products, they are in the right strength so could be used in this hack .. love x
Hey Rob: what are your thoughts on Remedy for pigmentation
I love it, I really like the lip balm and the anti aging serum too.. such a nice line.. love x
Im using n acetyl glucosamine + alpha arbutin + niacinamide/tranexamic acid + az acid. Im waiting for results
Thank you so much for watching and sharing your thoughts - happy new year x
The one that really worked for me was hydroquinone which I used for less than 2 months only. I never used it again.
Thank you so much for sharing and I am so glad it worked for you xx
In my 20s, I had freckles. SPF was not what it was now. I still have one big freckle on my nose and that bothers me. I use the geek and gorgeous aPad and the Vegreen tranexamic acid combined with licorice root
Hello hun, happy new year.. that sounds like a great combination thank you so much for sharing.. love x
Do I skip vitamin c with this duo?
Yeah you can or you can use it alongside int he morning if you dont have sensitive skin xx
Note book soon as I click. Alpha arbutin was no good for me, I'd had ipl and thought too dear, for the number of times Id want it, tret, tret, tret. Wishing you and the subscribers a happy year ahead. ❤ Ps I'm scribbling and typing. Multitasking!
Haha got to love some multi tasking :) I hope this works for you hun.. love x
Rob what you prefer ordinary growth factor serum or Allies of skin Gf serum? What are the differences? What you will suggest.
I love both.. I think the allies one is more advanced but you are paying more for it so I would say the ordinary one I amazing for the price point. love x
I'm using Ordinary's copper peptide and really looking forward to purchasing their Growth Factor serum. Ok to use the tran acid w these 2 in AM?
Hi hun, yes it would be fine to use with these and I know what you mean I am so looking forward to the launch of the growth factor serum.. love x
Hi Rob, I can't buy the Naturium easily from where I live, do you think combining with the ANUA Niacinamide10% + TXA 4% could also be a good idea?
Hi hun, I think that would work well.. sending love x
Does anyone have another good option for EU instead of the Naturium? And ofcourse I will be ordering the MAS serum after that❤
Awww thank you so much hun your support means a lot.. Face Theory do a great 5% which I love, Superdrug here in the UK have their own brand one which is also amazing.. Hope this helps xx
I did something wrong, so my messages already gone. I’m looking forward to your serum as this last freckle is really bothering me.
Does this work for intimate bleaching also?
it will lighten but you dont want to use it on super sensitive areas x
Can you use this combo on the backs of hands? I don’t have many dark spots but I’d like to nip them in the bud.
Hi hun, yes you can it would work really well on the back of the hands.. love xx
0:42 into this video always makes me laugh 😂 if you're not gate keeping a secret, then I am going to sit up lean forward and take notes 😮 the very last thing I am going to do is "Sit back & Relax" 😅
Haha love this comment.. thank you so much for your support.. sending love x
The naturium link is for the USA. Is there a place to buy it in the Uk?
and south africa ?
And EU 😅
When you say combine them together... do you mean mix them together in your hands then apply? Or layer one then use the other on top? Thanks ❤
I’d say a play one then the other so you can even layer of both
Hi hun, I mean use one after the other as I think this will give the best results xx
I would love some that can actually fade age spots. I have had no success.
I think this might work for you - it will take time but it should lighten them for sure.. love x
@@MadAboutSkin I will be excited to try your new product later this year!
Thank you so much
My pleasure hun thank you so much for watching x
Boots has a cream combining these ingridients, just don't know the percentage. It's called
Boots Dermacare Hyperpigmentation Cream
Oh thank you so much for the heads up I will check it out.. love x
Use in the morning with Vit C and then copper peptide with retinal at night?
Yes thats totally fine... sending love x
Still , I just thought I’d let you know about it…..💝😊
Oh thank you so much hun thats amazing and I will check it out so thanks for the heads up xx
Naturium isnt available in my country. Any other recommendation??
Where is it your based and I will be able to make a recommendation.. love x
UK pls? 🙏🏾
Can you use these on the days your not using tretinoin? Or would that be too much if on tret ?
Hi hun, you could totally use these alongside tret so long as you dont have super sensitive skin. love x

@@MadAboutSkin yeah 😃 and I would love to try your Anti Hyperpigmentation Serum 🤩 and of course your Peptide Serum 🩷
Bit off topic, but so you thing Q10 works to firm skin on face, neck & body???
I think Q10 will work alongside other ingredients to firm but on its own I think its mainly an effective antioxidant x
