I'm glad u kept in the funny "mistakes" like the disk falling and power outage, it's so entertaining to see that type of thing. Like when news reporters were working from home and their pets would knock over something.
Was listening to the podcast version of this and had to stop and come here upon hearing you don’t do All My Movies anymore. This saddens me. It was my favorite Dan Murrell content post Movie Fights. Really loved the deep dives and insights that show provided and would love to see it live on in some fashion.
Okay, this was one of my weirdest TH-cam experiences. You introduced your lovely assistant, I saw her hand, I immediately thought, “Dan got Thing to help him out!” ...and your first film was an Adams Family. Mind. Blown.
I was an extra in the movie "Matinee"...as it was filmed in Orlando, one of the few that really made for what they thought was going to become "Hollywood east"...fun movie to be part of
I always appreciate these kind of videos. Grandma’s Boy and Idiocracy are movies way more relevant than Cuffs that needs to be put on Blu-ray ASAP. It boggles my mind that they haven’t been upgraded
As someone about two years older than you I also have a major soft spot for both King Ralph and Kuffs, I saw both soooooo many times back in the 90's. Seeing them in your collection really makes me want to rewatch them.
Such a shame too. I can only imagine all the effort and work Dan put into the last episode about Harry Potter, only for it to get just 20,000 views on TH-cam and clearly not enough downloads in the podcast feed. Here’s hoping he can continue the show, obviously he would want to dial it back a lot but it would be cool to have a weekly small video where he just talks about briefly a couple movies in his collection. I don’t think it needs to be a big production like it was before, just sort of a little mini review and chat possibly with Mara about what he thinks of the movie.
Funny story about Planes, Trains, and Automobiles: I was at Target last November for some reason, and I went and looked through the movie section cause target always seems to have some really nice steel book cases for things, and they had a steel book case 4K PT&A on the shelf and I was like “sick, this is something I’ve never seen and I’ve wanted to for ages, so that’s awesome”. So I picked it up and went to buy it and the register literally wouldn’t let me scan it. I guess someone had accidentally put out some of the items for their Black Friday sale a week early, so the manager wouldn’t let me buy it yet. I left without it, and still have not seen the movie. Don’t know if I ever will now 😂
When you mentioned that you had an addiction to bargain hunting for things on physical media I just pause the video and shouted hey me too I have the same problem rows and Rows of DVDs and Blu-rays in my apartment and not enough places to put them on I have some of them in giant box containers heck I even have a VCR I got for Christmas that I haven't even hooked up yet. Neat video!!! I shall now call my addiction Dan Murrellitis: an addiction to collecting all matters of physical media for a good price, symptoms include looking for deals Steals and emitting loud squeals when bargain hunting for movies in any format
I think you, myself and a bunch of his subscribers have been suffering with the same affliction for years, and now we can be each other's support group! 🤣
On the DVDs you need to upgrade; The Contender has a Blu-ray from Imprint out of Australia (technically a Region B release but all of Imprint's releases play on Region A) Imprint is a bit pricey but they do great releases and its to be expected for imports and always on the lookout for that Dogma Blu-ray - I found the special edition DVD but really want that Blu.
OMG! You are going to have such an amazing time watching that Wong Kar Wai boxset! I tend towards the ‘how wonderful to have such great movies to look forward to’ mindset, rather than the ‘how have you not seen those masterpieces yet!?’. Looking forward to future videos on each of them.
The white background cover on Stop or my mom will shoot is the original theatrical poster for the film. I remember seeing it everywhere when I was a kid and the film was coming out.
I think all Shout Factory releases have reversible covers, Dan. You mentioned you didn't like Matinee's outer cover, but what about the one on the inside, which you can slip out of the case and flip/reverse if you may prefer that one? EDIT: Did some digging and found out that Matinee DOES have the original artwork on the reversible cover, so there ya go! :)
I definitely enjoy hearing you talk about your collection! I also like having physical media, and the little tidbits you talk about (special features/format, the original poster art for a film, etc) are always interesting to me. Made me go put a few movies I've always meant to own on my wishlist on Amazon to wait for a good sale.
Hell yeah! Being a collector as well I'm so excited for this! Coincidently, two years ago my collection was roughly the same size as yours, and it still is now. I think in 2020 I had about 50 % overlap with your collection, and I'm curious how many of your new additions I also got. EDIT: final tally: 18 of your new additions I had already, 31 I also got since the last video. I was most surprised by Cape Fear - I also bought this film in the interim, It was a first watch for me. And thank you for reminding me to buy Meteor Man. I saw it several times as a kid and hadn't thought of it for some time.
@danmurrel I always see your collection of books in the backround, it would be great to find out those film books and graphic novels as I’ve been adding lots to my collection thanks
I would love to see a video of your top 20 Blu rays cases, different things that are in them ECT.. best bonus features, best little bits like that guitar pick which is amazing!! I'd watch the hell out of that! Keep it up, love your stuff man
I loved your first video about your library and that you give short reviews about everything. It's a very easy watch in the background thing and great for my very long watch list. 🤘🏻
This was so entertaining 😂 you couldn’t have planned all these mishaps even if you tried. Love seeing all the movies you own and it gave me the itch to add to my collection too, especially these cool collector’s box sets.
Loving the disruptions and Mara giggles. Made this such an entertaining watch. I'm always tempted to throw some obscure NZ movies at you, since your movie collection is decidedly light on those, but I'll refrain for now.
I like comparing Dan’s collection to my own. A few fun things. Dan is correct Dogma is so hard to get I had to buy a copy from South Korea. It’s a region free disc, but the cover is written in Korean. I did something extra for my Cornetto trilogy. I bought an old Incredible Hulk blu ray because it has a green case and another copy of Avengers because some have red cases, and swapped the cases so my Cornetto trilogy still follows the Red Blue Green, theme. And finally a fun fact about the Criterion Collection, Wizard of Oz was released as part of the collection on Laserdisc, but as of now, has not been added back to the current line that started when they made the switch to DVD, for reference Citizen Kane the first ever Criterion release wasn’t added to the current line until November of 2021.
This is a great format for a video Dan, because it's your approach to movies (which everybody here loves) times the number of physical copies you own :D Plus there is always some small non-movie related story behind pretty much any of them. As long as those things won't bankrupt you, keep them coming.
Saving the best for last with My Neighbor Totoro. This was a fun video and I love seeing anybody share their collections. Personally I have a VHS player and I go out of my way to get some VHS versions of movies because VHS tapes have felt almost forgotten and I love cherishing the technology of the past.
Yay!! YES! One of my favorites...which is actually a good-bad movie (so, similar to your favorite good-bad movie, Skelator) is, 'Krull'. But i think it deserves to be on your shelf because despite the fx being not great and so on, it's such a great movie! I love the cast, soundtrack, the storyline is fun and it's just a great scifi adventure film with strong characters. One of my favorite scenes is when they go to the widow of the web for help. The dialog and chemistry between the actors is perfect. Lots of favorite films but that's one of mine! Enjoy!
If there's one thing I've learned from watching this it's that Martin Scorsese can only make movies about mobsters, lol. Thanks for the list. Gave me a few movies to put on my watchlist.
HELLO MARA'S HAND!!! Dude, even with all the streaming services, I LOVE buying physical copies of my favorite movies and shows! You never know when they are gonna be taken away of re edited!
Loved the first video and love this one too, cats and all! Got me thinking if I actually knew any French movies and the answer came back, "Micmacs." I highly recommend it. Goofball comedy about a shooting survivor and his new friends pranking gun and ammunition makers.
Loved the collection update. Especially the shout out for the Contender. I think you talked about it on an under rated movies episode at Fandom. I actually got that one from the library since it's so hard to find anywhere, and really enjoyed it. Any other Hidden Gems you have recommendations for? If you haven't seen the Interview (1998) I'd highly recommend it.
You keep mentioning Schmoedown.. and it makes me sad :( because I've been waiting for someone to title their movie "Repeat The Question" just to see what would happen in a match lol. Thank you for the update on your collection!
I remember being thrilled to find a copy of Dogma at a secondhand store after learning about why I hadn't seen it in so many years. I've since seen a few more copies, tempted each time. Are any of the movies you haven't been able to upgrade full screen editions? I have a few of those that I don't know if I will ever replace with widescreen editions for nostalgia purposes.
I love that Arrow and Scream Factory have reversible case over art so you can flip it to the original art if you want. Also Kink Lorber have been relasing so many amazing titles on 4k as of late, they are causing massive damage to my wallet.
On the bright side, there’s a couple uploads of Dogma available for free on TH-cam, since the rights holders don’t care enough to take them down. So it’s not like it’s complete inaccessible.
I’m honestly surprised you haven’t seen any Wong Kar-wai films. He’s one of the greatest directors out there. You really need to remedy that. Heck, Everything Everywhere All At Once even paid homage to one of his films, In The Mood For Love.
I also have the Bruce Lee Criterion box set, it's incredible. I love these videos, I also am I physical media addict. I have bought approx. 100 movies this year so far.
The best way to watch Waterworld is to watch the “Ulysses Cut” which is on the Arrow Blu-ray release. That puts back roughly 40mins of story that was hacked to make the theatrical version. And it’s far better with the cuts put back in.
I tend to buy classic movies on 4K Blu-ray if that were originally shot on film and transferred to 4K from the negative and restored/remastered. These movies are able to take advantage of the full 4K resolution.
I bought all the View Askew films during quarantine, and I can tell you that Blu-Rays of Dogma do exist, but they're asking a lot for them on eBay since they're out of print from 2008. I did it for a year and then tried it again - the audience interest needed to justify the time I put into it never materialized. Wish things were different….
Kuffs is obscure?! Damn. And here I thought movies like The Gods Must Be Crazy and Rozencrants and Guildenstern Are Dead and Real Men and Tough Guys and...from my own collection were obscure. I never thought Kuffs is!
I love how the power went out while talking about Jurassic World. "The Raptor fences aren't out are they?"
Nedri knew not to mess with the raptors
I'm glad u kept in the funny "mistakes" like the disk falling and power outage, it's so entertaining to see that type of thing. Like when news reporters were working from home and their pets would knock over something.
"If you are 60 or over 60 you get sent a DVD copy in the mail, they just send it to you... DVD only" lmao 🤣 that one got me good
The Curse of the Librarians: owning it physically means a lot more than readiness and availability. We like it, we buy it. If it's cheap, it's ours.
How so?@@Madferit91
Was listening to the podcast version of this and had to stop and come here upon hearing you don’t do All My Movies anymore. This saddens me. It was my favorite Dan Murrell content post Movie Fights. Really loved the deep dives and insights that show provided and would love to see it live on in some fashion.
Glad to see you're still supporting physical media Dan!
All My Movies was my favorite movie podcast ever, miss it a lot.
Thank you Dan for the great content you keep making!
Okay, this was one of my weirdest TH-cam experiences. You introduced your lovely assistant, I saw her hand, I immediately thought, “Dan got Thing to help him out!” ...and your first film was an Adams Family. Mind. Blown.
Only Dan can make a 1 hour long video about showing dvds so much fun! Greetings from Brazil.
Do the "All My Movies" reviews again, Dan. They're great!
Your original video is what inspired me to start collecting myself and now 2 years later I have 350+ titles in my collection.
Exactly what I needed to put on while cleaning my apartment, thank you Danathan.
I was an extra in the movie "Matinee"...as it was filmed in Orlando, one of the few that really made for what they thought was going to become "Hollywood east"...fun movie to be part of
So nostalgic for physical media. Feels more real and actually triggers memories & emotion.
Dan sat through two blackouts, and faulty disk management, but the cat on the desk broke him 💀💀
14:52 Dumb and Dumber reference.
"Our pets heads are falling off!"
I always appreciate these kind of videos. Grandma’s Boy and Idiocracy are movies way more relevant than Cuffs that needs to be put on Blu-ray ASAP. It boggles my mind that they haven’t been upgraded

I always love these type of videos. Thank you for keeping physical media alive!
Didn't think I would've liked this series, but I remember riding around the bus in the morning listening to these
When you mentioned that you had an addiction to bargain hunting for things on physical media I just pause the video and shouted hey me too I have the same problem rows and Rows of DVDs and Blu-rays in my apartment and not enough places to put them on I have some of them in giant box containers heck I even have a VCR I got for Christmas that I haven't even hooked up yet. @@kevinstrother8712 If cassettes can make a comeback, I'm not counting anything out.

This is the most entertaining physical media collection update video.

Great video! Laughed out loud when the power went out!
You need to get "Beau Travail" from Criterion! My favorite movie experience this year, watching an older title for the first time. ♥️
OMG! You are going to have such an amazing time watching that Wong Kar Wai boxset! I tend towards the ‘how wonderful to have such great movies to look forward to’ mindset, rather than the ‘how have you not seen those masterpieces yet!?’. Looking forward to future videos on each of them.
The Green Knight was my favorite of 2021. I get more out of it everytime I see it.
And the 4k transfer is pristine!
The white background cover on Stop or my mom will shoot is the original theatrical poster for the film. I remember seeing it everywhere when I was a kid and the film was coming out.
Hi Mara! Thanks Dan! Take care guys!
And love that Jaws shirt! My favorite movie not TMNT as a kid!
Looks like you have an executive assistant! That's a pretty cat!
I love Old Man Dan sneaking through
Ok that Zodiac Blu-ray art is so cool. I have never hopped on Amazon to order a movie so fast
I've said this before and I'll say it again. Dan could read a phone book and I'd still be here for it!!
I think all Shout Factory releases have reversible covers, Dan. You mentioned you didn't like Matinee's outer cover, but what about the one on the inside, which you can slip out of the case and flip/reverse if you may prefer that one?

Great Blu-ray collection Dan and take care and stay safe 👍.

Great video Dan. Now I need to go back and watch your 1st video. Really appreciate the time you took to do this.
Loved special guest, Mara’s arm
0:17 Man I tell you, It was awesome fun watching.
I'd love to see one of these videos every 6 months or so!
Every video from you is a dinner & a show, don’t kid yourself Dan-o!
Yay! I'm one of those weirdos that love physical media collection/updates.
Maybe you answered this question before but any word on a collection update in 2024? Love the two videos we have so far.
Loving the disruptions and Mara giggles. Made this such an entertaining watch. I'm always tempted to throw some obscure NZ movies at you, since your movie collection is decidedly light on those, but I'll refrain for now.

That blackout was TOTALLY because of Cocomelon.
I don't know how, but it was!

The dumb and dumber reference "our pets heads are falling off" really took me back in time
So all my movies isn't coming back?? Man learned so much about sorcerer stone. Made me love the movie even more.
HELLO MARA'S HAND!!!
Dude, even with all the streaming services, I LOVE buying physical copies of my favorite movies and shows! You never know when they are gonna be taken away of re edited!
My favourite Scorsese film is that classic mob movie, The Age of Innocence.

No box office report this week? 😔
Hoping to add to your physical media collection

Jelly of your Breathless DVD

I love that Arrow and Scream Factory have reversible case over art so you can flip it to the original art if you want.
Also Kink Lorber have been relasing so many amazing titles on 4k as of late, they are causing massive damage to my wallet.
Oblivion was a good movie, but that soundtrack - wow! M83 did an excellent job. I still listen to the main theme on a regular basis.
On the bright side, there’s a couple uploads of Dogma available for free on TH-cam, since the rights holders don’t care enough to take them down. So it’s not like it’s complete inaccessible.
I agree with Maura.
Amazing Spider-Man 2 is my second or third favorite Spider-Man movie
I also own “Your Name” thanks to you and Tony Revolori, thanks for the recommend!
Let’s gooooo, I love movie collection videos 😤😤😤
I’m honestly surprised you haven’t seen any Wong Kar-wai films. He’s one of the greatest directors out there. You really need to remedy that.
Heck, Everything Everywhere All At Once even paid homage to one of his films, In The Mood For Love.
Goddammit I was really holding out hope for All My Movies coming back eventually 😭

I also have the Bruce Lee Criterion box set, it's incredible.

this video has a different feel in the wake of the great HBOmax purge, especially the "I don't trust streaming"
Love the collection!!!
“And that’s not even counting Tom Arnold” … the layers and levels of funny this was🤣🤣🤣
What's an IG movie?
Dan, is your "Charts with" getting delayed this week?
