I love watching physical media videos because it really reaffirms me that more people than me still collect physical media and makes me love it even more. I've been a fan of you for a while now ever since I discovered your Letterboxd, but for some reason I felt nervous in commenting on one of your videos. I hope your doing well today and keep on the great work, Sydney!
It is a scary time but i do see people being inspired all the time to start their own collection and that’s so awesome!! And I appreciate the support so much, comment or not!!🙌🏼
You should watch lets get physical media with rob burnett and Deiter Bastian they talk about physical media and whats out now or coming out and share their collection of stuff. You should check it out
As one who already has a dorknormous collection, I can tell you that it's most important that you discuss the favorite movies that you DO have, and you'll be fine. Age and making a bit more dough will take care of the rest. So don't sweat it. My further unsolicited advice: don't distract from your interesting points by working blue - only swear your head off when you're OFF camera.
I've bought so many cheap DVDs that I still haven't seen, I just saw a $2 movie and said "yes" I need to bunker down for a week and just watch everything. Congratulations on 10k subscribers!!!! Very deserved
I’ve been watching your channel for quite some time now and seeing the evolution of these videos has been amazing. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, you are the best movie reviewer on TH-cam. Your videos are so well made and seeing your passion for movies has definitely grown my passion for them as well. Thank you for making these videos, I think I can speak for everyone when I say we love them and hope that you continue making them and we wish you nothing but more success on your journey. So Sydney, congrats on 10k, and here’s to so many more! Also, awesome physical media collection you got! Those Dune book ends are sick!
Wow, this made me tear up thank you so much for the kind words! It’s so easy to be passionate about film in this community, and I’m glad I’ve been able to pay it forward in some way! Very very grateful to you guys and looking forward to the future!
In a male dominant video niche, it’s so cool seeing a powerful woman having a kick butt collection, being passionate about it, and bringing a freshness to what can be stale conversation and commentaries. You get my follow on TH-cam and letterboxd!
Loved this video! If you're going to be doing "Doctor Sleep" on the podcast - I HIGHLY recommend the Director's Cut, it's a masterpiece and the extra time really makes a difference. I was a bit meh on the theatrical cut, but DC was everything. Also. ALSO. I've never met anyone who loves "Legend" as much as me, so we are now instantly friends.
I always knew you had taste but Legend is kind of the ultimate litmus test, you rock thank you for stopping by!! Def taking notes about doctor sleep✍🏼✍🏼
I love seeing youg people collecting physical media and being interested in older movies and actors like James Cagney man of a thousand face's he done a lot of good movies
Congrats on hitting 10k Sydney!! Have always respected your takes and love your videos so much!! So happy to see all your success with TH-cam, TikTok and the podcast. 🎉❤
Started watching your content last year through TikTok & as someone who loves film & film criticism it really makes me happy to see someone thrive in this medium the way that you have. Keep going because you’re doing such an amazing job & I hope I can make a 10k subscriber video someday of my 400+ movie collection🙂
This is the third physical media haul from a channel I like that I watched front to back despite my personal collection just being a zipper DVD case with Wonderfalls, Galaxy Quest, and all the Ratchet and Clank games. Also, huge congrats on the milestone!
Thank you!! And wow, that is a small but mighty collection. But yeah PM videos are weirdly entertaining, it is the only time i will watch something really long lol
having 2 criterions of sound of metal will always be a flex. also, came here from tiktok just to say congratulations!! as someone who has been watching your content since like 2021/2022, I think ur awesome and I’m so happy for you! ur gonna continue to kill it in life!!
I still have a very large collection of movies on CED and in particular, Laser Disc. I have many special editions with the laser discs, stuff that cost me around $149 to acquire and I can get them today for less than $50. Grrr! I have many that you mentioned on those older formats but these days, I am investing more in Blu-ray discs. I concentrate on older films such as the Ray Harryhausen collections, the original Universal Monster collections and even Metropolis (amazing film, not for everybody). I just picked up the entire original Star Trek collection in metal. I had a Disney account and decided drop it last month. I had it only for my wife who loves the old Disney classics. So what I am doing is buying up all the Disney classics on Blu-ray. I already bought 12 titles the past few weeks and I'll be getting more as the weeks go by. When I looked at the cost, it would be cheaper to get the movies over a short period of time instead of keeping the Disney account open. You pay the money, watch the classic and then what? This way we have it in physical form and once paid for, it's paid for. It's just a matter of economics. Long term, I would love to replace my CED and Laser Disc movies with either DVD or Blu-ray versions. Many of those I know are not available outside of those formats but eventually, they will get replaced. Thanks for the video.
Awesome collection Syndey! I've been getting into buying Criterion copies within the last year, and you've definitely given me some great ideas of what next to buy. Love that Pinocchio box art!
Awesome collection. I have a lot of the same blu rays, though your 4K and Criterion blu ray collection is a lot more impressive than mine 😂 I'm still slowly upgrading to 4K, lol. And those steelbooks of Mission Impossible Fallout and Robocop look really cool!
I've been following your content for exactly 2 years and I'm very happy about your evolution as a creator I love what you bring to the platforms and it was wonderful to watch you grow I'll never forget when you commented every week on the episodes of the third season of The Boys!! I've already gotten emotional but congrats Sydney!! For the 10k😅🙌🏻🤍
Congrats on 10k btw, i'm sure there is plenty more where that came from, you seem like a natural at reviewing movies, often impressed by for reviews both spoken and written
First of all, I just started watching a few of your videos this week. Quite fun. As a Laurence Fishburne fan myself, I wanted to recommend “Higher Learning” if you have not seen it. In addition to him, the movie also stars Ice Cube, Busta Rhymes, Omar Epps, Tyra Banks, Jennifer Connelly, Michael Rappaport, etc.
Your comment about Deadpool/Wolverine was spot on to how I felt watching the trailer release this morning; Just feels like the humor had its day. Not sure if you feel this way after watching the trailer but thanks anyway for making me feel validated 😂 Also, great vid, loved seeing the collection
Congrats on 10k Sydney. 100k is just around the corner. You are the absolute best. I'm still on a social media sabbatical but had to stop and say hello. I have never seen 'Some Like it Hot' or 'Singin in the Rain', both been on watchlist forever, I guess now it's time. Seeing your Licorice Pizza Blu-ray brought back some memories.
Thanks so much Jarrod, I’m so grateful for your support over the years!! I hope your time away has been helpful, and omg i think you would love both those movies!
Congrats on 10K subs!! Great collection - I also love the steelbooks and Criterion Collection, so I try to stick to those "premium" sets now and avoid normal blu-ray/4k boxes since I think they're made of cheap plastic where the discs tend to fall out :(
Ambulance is a masterpiece without question. His movies may not be for everyone, but Michael Bay is a master of his craft. He really pushed drone cinematography forward with his work in Ambulance.
We are already seeing poor imitations of it! The reputation the Bayformers have really prevents people from seeing what he did behind the camera. One of the best action directors working today imo.
Congrats on 10K subs, and great collection as well! Your TH-cam success and physical collection are both amazing!! Excited AF for your future!! I've only recently started collecting physical media and oh man I wish I started sooner, but I'm getting there. Some Highlights so far include The Thing, Hot Fuzz, Fargo, Evil Dead 2, Casino Royale, Mad Max Fury Road, Logan, Requiem for a Dream, Paprika, The Raid 1/2, Day of the Dead Blu-rays, Dawn of the Dead, Videodrome uncut version and a Criterion of Cure. I'm only barely getting started but I'm getting the hang of it. Hail physical media! Once again, huge congratulations on 10K subs and so happy you're channel is doing well and growing in success!
Congrats on over 10k! Awesome collection, you're in for a treat with The Raid 2, still my favourite actioner to date (I also own the 2-film collection)! I may do my own PM video in the future as well...
Thanks friend! Glad we could be part of this community together for so long! Would looove to see your collection omg. And yeah Raid 2 better prepare to get watched
I'm very jealous about that Warriors boxset. I missed it when it came out. Great collection btw! I just started this year and I have found that Arrow's catalogue far exceeds what Criterion offers based on my taste.
Don't comment much but congrats on the 10k Sydeny! Found you on LB when I joined the platform and have been following ever and just wanna say keep up the good work! Also yea I am kinda the same boat, I love physical media, but as a high school (I just graduated from high school) I barely have any money to buy my own movies on physical so yea its difficult:< can't wait to actually start earning.

@@SydneyVolpe haha thanks yea, also looking at my original comment, wow that's a lot of typos, but anyways keep up the positive vibes man and have a good day!
Good to see a modest solid collection. Too many people with massive shelves full of filler. Absolutely spot on with Thief, one of the best films of all time. Robert Prosky's monologue is absolutely ruthless.
Excellent collection! I did the same thing and bought Deep Cover twice 😅 the art is just so striking I probably just instinctively clicked. And hell yes to THIEF and OLD! Do you have something you’re dying to get a release? I’m aching for a Strange Days, really any early Bigelow stuff needs more physical releases
Congratulations on 10K! I wish you continued success on your TH-cam channel, TikTok and anywhere else you decide to share your thoughts and talents. All the best to you!
Congrats Sydney! Love your videos a lot and would love to see more content like this that isn’t about new releases! Do you ever consider doing videos where you discuss movies from a particular filmmaker, time period, or genre? For example, I’d love to watch a video where you share all about your love for PTA and his movies. Or it could be something like “my top ten criterions”. I’d love to see you keep branching out in general. Congrats again! Love the content.
Hi Sydney! I've been watching a lot of your videos on youtube as well as your letterboxd (Your Joker II review had me chuckling..) but I do have one question.. have you ever seen "Wild Tales"? by Damián Szifron? It's among one of my favorites and I couldn't find if you did a review for it. Thank you for your wonderful, clear and entertaining content and can't wait for what's to come. :)
Hired to Kill is an okay low budget action film from Nico Mastorakis. If you like Van Damme or Seagal movies you'll probably like it. Arrow also put out another one of his called The Zero Boys that I would recommend. Great to see a younger person who loves The Warriors. It is one of my favorites ever as well. I've heard a lot of "It is so boring" from the younger generation.
I own so many it's hard to count, for storage reasons though I get rid of the cases and just keep the discs, which isn't a great practice for a collector, but I don't have the space and it will make moving with them easier, I also buy 1000 disc metal storage cases rather than have them on display, not ideal but I just don't have the room
Congratulations on your awesome physical media collection… and also on your youtube channel🥳👌🏻 Haha the only dupes i have is upgrades from dvd to Bluray. That is hilarious you have these dupes. I see you also own some region B blurays? You own a region free player? Great collection Sydney!
Thanks so much!! Yeah i gotta be more careful about that haha. And yeah i do - i like it because I’ve found some good deals on eBay and stuff (like Deep Red) that are region B
Congratulations on 10k subscribers Sydney!!!! You are A QUEEN!!! So proud of you my friend, and I love your collection, especially the vinyls! Robocop is such a banger. My favorites in my Criterion are my Godzilla (1954) and my The War of the Worlds (1953)! You gotta check out the artwork on those :)
This is the first video I’ve seen from you but the John Carpenter love made me instantly subscribe. Also, I have that Police Story collection and it’s so great. I highly recommend checking them out soon!
I pretty much talked 9,967 of those people into subscribing. Had to go door to door every day for the past four years. Got jobs washing dishes for a couple weeks at a time before moving on to the next town while living out of my '97 Neon, but it was chill.

That sounds like a nifty strategy though!! I can only imagine having that many!
Highly agree with the werewolf movies comment!

I was Waiting for this.

This is the first video I’ve seen from you but the John Carpenter love made me instantly subscribe. Also, I have that Police Story collection and it’s so great. I highly recommend checking them out soon!
You should watch Smooth Talk. Criterion has a release of it. It is one of Laura Dern's first leading roles. It's very good. I think you'd like it.
Added to the list thank you!!
I pretty much talked 9,967 of those people into subscribing. Had to go door to door every day for the past four years. Got jobs washing dishes for a couple weeks at a time before moving on to the next town while living out of my '97 Neon, but it was chill.
This is more likely than the alternative, i appreciate your unwavering dedication to the cause
