Komugi is the "spy." I can't believe people still don't get this. There's literally a picture of Meruem & Komugi dead, holding each other's hands, with the "spy" and "Marshall" piece on top of each other.
Dude, I'm just talking about how Welfin is a spy type character, who literally accomplishes nothing throughout the battle, and yet is the deciding player who ends the conflict. That's all.
I also find it kinda cool how all of the supporting Chimera Ant characters against the King are all "spies". Ikalgo and his disguises, Meleoron and his God's Plan, Welfin and his scheming, and Palm with her clairvoyance.
At 11:32 I really like how Meruem is drawn paired with the “I can see everything” line because I believe, especially after his second power up, his concept and partially his design inspiration was based on the Buddha, and in a lot of classical East Asian literature regarding the Buddha, he is said to have the universe in the palm of his hand and able to see everything in it. In that scene he even looks a little like the gold Buddha statues you see at pawn shops

@@YoseGalvan are you evil because you ate lamb? hes from another specie, who predate all other living. this is no more evil than us eating others animals, this is just nature. more of it, he is technically a child. so its only a reflexes to follow his instincts, not an evil behaviour. he kill to eat and live, not for fun like humans can do. and the real point here is that he changed, he learned. he learned respect toward humans, and love, and who he was. in short, he grew a conciousness.

BL Meaning, that humanity’s potential growth (evolution) can also be considered evil (malice) as a result. Evolution (bombs, weapons, etc) = malice (destructive, murderous) The scene where it portrays humans stomping over ants is a great example of human malice. Whereas the ants are swarming and killing for survival, humans just stomp right over all. The bomb is developed from human evolution and used to kill all, including ourselves and everyone in contact.

Kenneth Burmeister Well, this is just based on the show’s message after all. However, it does have some truth behind it. It’s all for naught if humans do more harm than actual “advancements.” Also not really. Sadly, real life ppl tend to focus more on the positives of humans than the negativities imo since the majority of us are rather hypocritical and entitled. I mean, most reactors hate on the ants for doing what we ourselves do to actual animals, just b/c they’re harming humans. Meaning, we tend to think humans as above all other life forms. That we’re the most superior species and thus righteous. That is the overall picture of humans. That we’re more capable of evil compared to other life forms since we cause the most destruction. That’s why this show does a great job for the audience to contemplate on this factor.
He was going to die either way even if they did nothing. Meruem stood no chance from the very beginning as humanity would have nuked him thousands of time into the afterlife the moment he started to expand.
Meruem was like a baby when the arc started, all he cared about was himself. Through komugi he learned to care for others, but that wasn’t enough, he was still wavering. After pouf and youpi became connected to the king, he learned how to feel from the perspective of someone else, EMPATHY, and once he remembered komugi he became human.
@@klasse4311 Well the whole arc is one big pararell between Meruem and Gon, in which one goes from human to monster while other from monster to human. Even if Gon was traumatized, he paid his own life and ability to use Nen all for the sake of revenge and slaughtered Pirou with no remorse. In all sense of the word, that is quite monstrous.
gon critizied the phantom troupe for killing people who had nothing to do with them because they got in the way of what they wanted. and then in this arc, gon was ready to kill komugi, a girl who had nothing to do with him or his fight, because she was in the way of what he wanted. it's not trauma. it's just gon's twist morality taken to its absolute zenith.
In the manga, there is a panel, where gyro's story being told, saying that the gyro guy and gon team (with Killua and Kite) almost bumped into each other I believe. There is a theory about this guy too if you are interested.
Meruem is one of my favorite antagonist in anime and without a doubt my favorite character in HxH Welfin and Ikalgo were the MVPs of the arc...weird Pouf seeing Meruem act with so much kindness is the best form of punishment ever
The Poor Man's Rose poison that they talk about in this Arc is not just any poison, it is the nuclear fallout that happens after an atomic bomb is dropped. The Poor Man's Rose is modeled after our real life nukes.
(not sure if this counts as a true spoiler, just a reference to a chart from the manga not long after the events of the anime are over) but looking at how insanely powerful the ants are, especially the king, you can see in a later manga arc that chimera ants are still classed overall as a b on the s to f scale! they got a b-c in ferocity, b for number, b-1 for fertility, a for destructivity, and b overall. however these rankings could be based on how the situation during the chimera ant arc went down, as the majority of the ants were wiped out with just the strength of the hunters, while the top ranking ones needed that bomb and some pretty strong nen users to finally die. i wont disclose the other threats on that chart except humans! overall one human is classed as a c, which could be because humans have nen and it’s an averaged measurement. humankind as a whole is ranked as an a- to b+ overall!
I just love the clear and obvious parallels between the miniature rose and a real life nuke. A nuclear bomb isn't just a massive force of destructive power but it's also spreading a poison via radiation as well as the "black rain" being radioactive dust and ash that's tied to water particles and falls down in a wide area surrounding the impact site. So anyone that survives the blast itself is likely to die or suffer heavily from radioactive poisoning. The realities of it all are really quite horrible.
Yeah, its kinda poetic how the blast doesn't kill him but the poison does. I like to interpret it as death not trough human power, but trough human cruelty. The blast itself is just sheer power, is extremely destructive but you either die from it or you don't. Poison - or radiation -, on the other hand, tortures you and kills you slowly.
Regarding the current arc in the manga, if it ever returns from hiatus, I wouldn't be surprised if Gyro & co. ends up playing a big part later on, disrupting what's going on.
Meruem is probably the best or one of the best antagonists/villains in all of anime and manga. His voice actor did a great job conveying his rapid evolution from boring supremacist villain, into a struggle for identity, a horrible realization and his solace in finding his purpose and humanity.
If Meruem ate Pitou before she left he would just be immortal with healing maybe even able to bring back the dead plus probably have better control of the puppet power. I really think if he ate her even the rose wouldn't have stopped him.
It's always cool to watch Gon and Meruems character arcs because they are kinda the opposite of each other. Gon becomes increasingly ruthless and angry while the King becomes more understanding and kind.
I like to think Meruem was “human” from the start, he started out brutal and had no remorse which is something humans can be but then Meruem develops and changes like a human, and he becomes caring and fair and peaceful to everyone which is also something a human could do. He is a very well written character hands down, he is written to have the opposite of development that Gon is having. Gon gets more and more mad and unforgiving, to where he tells his best friend to pretty much get lost. While Meruem develops he becomes kinder and such and gets a friend he greatly cares for. I can write a entire essay on these character contrasts in this arc, it’s such a great fantastic arc.

The same chief was the one that shot him. As far as I’m concerned, he got off easy. Even so, it was used as anti-war propaganda, even to this day.
Due process exists for a reason, even for the most monstrous of people, and even when their guilt is a known fact. After all, if that's the case, then tautologically the case against them must be absolute, so what does the legal system have to lose? Unless, of course, the real goal is to establish them as having that level of jurisdiction in the first place. Which it always, always, always is.
