We have a 10-year-old BMC named Tank.
I have owned lots of well-respected breeds, but I've never had a dog like Tank.
He is more human than dog. Obedient, protective, loving, loyal and SENSITIVE.
He is practically famous. Our family, friends, and neighbors have always been amazed by him.
I could set a piece of bacon in front of him and leave the room for four hours, and he wouldn't eat it until I got back and gave him the okay.
If I even talk to him in a "lower" tone than usual, he becomes SO submissive. I usually don't even do it on purpose - he is just insanely sensitive and wants to please.
He basically helped raise my 8-yewr-old daughter, and they are friends forever.
He's getting up there in years, but other than his gray snout, you wouldn't know. He's the same as ever.
I don't recommend BMC's to people because I honestly don't want people to find out about this breed. Want to keep them our little secret.
Is just can't say enough about these dogs. Head and shoulders better than labs.

I had my first BMC for 12 years. A friend rescued her from streets of Macon, GA half starved. She was the most incredible dog I’ve ever had! They are everything you could want from a dog wrapped up into one neat little package. I just got my second one last weekend from a foster. She has already fit right into the family and is already taking well to training. Best dogs ever!

I found my BMC wandering a bad section of Tulsa. I wanted to find her a home, but within a few days I took the ad down. Zoey is the most amazing dog I have ever met. Smart, loving, athletic. Recently we moved to New England and she loves to run the forest trails with my sister's horse. The horse and Zoey have built the most amazing bond, to the point where the horse doesn't want to go on the trail unless Zoey is in the lead. It is the most amazing thing I have ever seen. ❤

This is so wild to me... I don't know how long you have had Zoey, but my boy was picked up off the side of the road w his two brothers out in rural Sand Springs. I've had him for about 15 years

Found my BMC Lily about a month ago, laying on the grass on the side of a busy road in our small town near Oklahoma City, exhausted. She had obviously recently had pups but they were nowhere to be found. Probably has had several litters by the looks of it. The City Shelter had been trying to catch her for about 3 weeks and I got her with some peanut butter treats and when I was all out she gave me her paw. So well trained.

I just rescued a BMC in NC. unspayed, no collar no chip, in heat. She is very gray already, vet thought she was 5. In love already in 5 days, wonderful hound.
Had never heard of them, I raised a Ridgeback from a pup, she is so easy compared to him. ❤

I have a 5 year old cur. His name is Bear. He is my service dog and my battle buddy. I got him as soon as he was able to leave his mother. He is the awsome. He knows immediately when I am having problems. They are extremely loyal, intelligent, and protective.

My wife & daughter on a roadtrip to Houston from San Diego.. found a BMC out in the middle of nowhere in Texas...literally nothing around for miles. My wife tried reaching out for owners because he was clearly somewhat trained..he's about a year & half, maybe two years old. After alot of effort, it was disclosed to us that lots of people dump dogs out in this specific area of Texas..sooo, now my wife has had "Tex" for a little over 2 years. What a great dog! Super smart, protective, super loyal and very caring & actually sensitive. Such a blessing. I cant imagine not having him.

My sweet JJ (passed away 2 weeks ago at age 12) looks exactly like Ruby. Everyone said she was a lab shepherd cross. I never did a dna test, would it have shown on those tests? It's confusing when I read articles. Some say it's not a breed. Some say yes. Our new puppy looks more like Bruno but is only 7 months so may change. JJ was super friendly worked with my disabled son, did therapy dog work, and our new little girl is so responsive and sweet. She's from Texas. Im excited for the future. I think we will do a dna test out of curiosity. JJ was my heart dog. I've always had dogs and by far the best dog ever.

Just watched your video with Scotty, our BMC, glued to my side. You are not exaggerating... these are the best dogs. Very smart and loving. I would also mention that they are among the healthiest of breeds. Maybe because they have been bred for character and skill, rather than looks. Thank you for bringing some well deserved attention to this breed.

I have a female black mouth cur. They say don't let them around small animals because of the hunting instinc. She grew up with my 2 cats and they all sleep together. Great dog.

I've had my BMC for about 15 years, He was found dumped in rural OK. He's the biggest snug, so loyal and never stinky lol. He's obvi the one in the profile pic for reference. He's very smart and def a hunter. We were outside the other day and he clocked a wild rabbit at about 100 yards and was just locked in. He doesn't require as much activity at his age but he's still kicking hard.

We have a 3 month old Black Mouth Cur named Millie, we got her during the pandemic as a rescue, and I cannot imagine not having her in our lives these last 3 years. Everything they are saying in this video about the breed is true, they are loving, protective, but very good around other people and animals. They do need activity, we have a large enough house for our dog to do zoomies in and a fenced in yard that allows for her to view the other yards/activity on all sides and a higher porch she can perch on, but I also would not recommend this breed for apartment dwellers or individuals who are not around all day and not very active, this breed needs to walk, run and lots of activity to be happy and healthy. In another life I wish our dog could live on a FARM, she would be in heaven, but she is a sweet...and very silly...addition to our family and we love her dearly.

I'm very lucky to have a beuatiful BMC we got from a foster who got him from a kill shelter. I don't think I'll ever want another breed. I've had 14 dogs over the years and he is something else.

BMCs are the bestest doggos, everrrr!!!! ...Ever!
    But-
You need to be a committed and experienced, and vigilant, large breed trainer.
They are freaking smart and loyal, but strongly territorial, deeply sensitive, and easily broken/scarred for life by well intentioned but less than committed training, and dedicated care.
It's an honor and a commitment to own a black mouth cur. If you're not willing to be responsible for a toddler for a lifetime, you're not ready for a black mouth cur. If you're committed to their training and care, the payback is beyond belief.

I have a female brindle. She was a feral dog in Arkansas, she came to my Arkansas property, & never left. Other people tried to keep her, she would escape & run away. She found me & stayed with me. She was a maybe 5 months old when we met, 4 years later she is right next to me. We walk/run, play fetch, & training in general. She can scale a 6 foot high fence, or block wall. She won’t go over our wall unless I ask her to scale the wall. She is everything that was said in the video. She is definitely smart, & is always wanting to learn & please.

Ruby is the best! Her and Lew are my favorite dogs I’ve ever even known. So loving and such wonderful spirits with the Curs. Watching her and Bruno (aka The Bruno Man) run around that property is amazing. Their temperament and outdoor skills are just different, really everything you could hope for in a family/farm/ranch/hunting dog. I just want to give them all a big hug right now. So happy you both made this video! ❤️

Yes, our Black Mouth Cur is the same way about looking us in the eye. I know exactly what you mean. Everything you are saying here describes our BMC. We got ours as a result of a family moving away and they couldn't bring her with them.
Same here got ours in early 2017 she was about 6 months old at the time. I have a very short video of her here on my
channel if you'd like to take a look. 👍

Dogs need to be worked or very stimulated to keep themselves out of trouble as the are incredibly smart and get bored easily which can lead to them getting into trouble. The first thing I learned with mine was how loyal they are and how they are so determined to please and they pick up on energy so well.

i adopted a puppy from a shelter near Beaumont Texas. the vets that checked them out before sending them up to Maine, one said she is a Black Mouth Cur, the other one said she is a Pointer cross.
i did a Wisdom Panel DNA, they said PIT BUll 30 %/ German Short Haired Pointer 15 %/Lab 6% and MANY others in smaller percentages. she is now one year old, she is shaped like a Pointer, weighs 55 pounds , fast as lightening , yellow eyes, rimmed with gold, DOES look boldly into MY eyes all the time, likes to learn and is learning great recall and obedience. SHE POINTS a lot !!, do you know of a DNA company that DOES have Black Mouth Cur in their data base ? after receiving my results, i asked wisdom Panel if they had BMC and they said NO. the Pittie / Pointer cross does make sense . she is RED/ Fawn with a Brown nose. but i have read that BMC can have noses/lips from light brown to black. i would like to retest her IF here is a group that is testing for BMC . any referral appreciated...thanks GG in Machias, Maine

they love to be outside - however, they love to interact with us and therefore, when we are inside, they want to be inside. however, if they sense intruders, they let us know. amazing dogs and in our opinion, well-suited for farm life.

@kenchafin9890 - Ours is indoor/outdoor and she does chase chickens but I don't think she's ever caught one or would know what to do if she did. She's a sweetie. I have a short video of her here on my channel if you'd like to see. 👍
