When I pulled my engine earlier this year I had the same struggle. I don't remember my exact method, but I believe the engine with header was a bit over 200 lbs (mine is an XB12). My improvised workbench was a little too tall and I was afraid of dropping the engine so I actually pulled the cylinders while it was on the floor so I could lighten it up. Made me realize I need to get my old man butt back into proper shape.
