I really, really hope this product is popular so that manufactures will start to make even bigger monitors without any TV-bullshit like 3D or Smart-TV-apps and other useless stuff that just creates more lag. And then we will have reasonably priced 55"-65" monitors that are great for HTPC-use.
Bloodangel.13 Yeah...I would like to see that price tag. My 65 inch LG OLED 4k and damn near 4k. In other news...4k needs to be 32 inches at the smallest. 27 inch or smaller your in pure gamer territory and need to pick frame rate over resolution. 27 inch 4k is too small.
5ean Who said I need 4k for gaming. Sure 4k is nice for streaming TV show and movies (and considering netflix and amazon is adding more and more 4k content 4k is slowly becoming ubiquitous) for the most part I play game at 1080p for a smother experience. Especially since I mod the games I play I wouldn't necessarily need 4k for anything.
I've been using the slightly newer version of this monitor (LG 43UN700-B) for the past 2 weeks. At first I was second guessing my purchase but now I love it. This replaced a 34" ultrawide monitor on my desk. I dont game on the monitor. Most use is mixed between productivity (email, excel, powerpoint), photo editing in lightroom. I have it connected via USB-C and use the two usb ports to connect to my web cam and speaker phone. Also, using the headphone jack to connect to external speakers. It is nice to see all of my raw photos in 4k!!
I love my 43in Dell 4k monitor at work for software development. I sit pretty close to it and am able to use it at 100% scaling which gives me a ton of space. I tend to prefer using it like 3 portrait monitors for coding and web browsing; I switched to it from a 4x24inch 1080p setup with 3 portrait and one landscape. Now I have the 43in as my primary with one 24in for email and server stats. I think for larger monitors to be used in the same way they would need to be higher resolution to maintain the same pixel density.
I've rocked the first Philips 4K 40" monitor for about 4 years now and its absolutely been the best monitor I've tried to date and never let me down! So crisp and bright! My next upgrade will be a few inches bigger and 120hz 4K.
I've used a 43" 4K display for years, it's absolutely fine and I could easily go up to 55". You do need to sit back though, I wall mounted mine so I can move my desk away, unless you have an extra wide desk you pretty much have to either mount or put it on something else.
Jean-Luc Devon IPS and 1 ms response time...thats why. You need to go TN to get that. Also 4k and 144hrtz doesnt exist yet....will in a month or 2 at a 2k price tag.
They were supposed to come out this year but Asus and Acer both delayed their release dates for 4K 144Hz monitors. There is no real market for it yet. Nothing less then two GTX 1080ti's in SLI can manage 144 fps at 4k, at least with recent games in mind, and SLI is still with issues. Things might look different with next gen Gforce but I doubt they will double the performance needed. However, even today it would be interessting for CS GO players because the Source engine requires very little GPU power, even at 4k.
There ain't no rigs capable of delivering >144fps at 4K at max-ultra settings yet. So it's not a pressing issue unless you wan't it for competetive minecraft or something.
I've been using 43in Sony 4k on old dinning room table in man cave. Eliminates closeness issues but not the best for keyboards. I just got higher chair. Love it. Never going back.
Michael Davis Sr - I also have a dining room table (two actually) in my man cave. I wanted a nice wide(depth) table for gaming so I can sit back a bit more. Currently have 34" monitor (used a 39" tv previously) and I'm glad I spent $320 on each table. Just simple Ikea wooden dining room tables. Well built and solid. No keyboard issues however.
I use this for web development. So nice to be able to have code, browser, and debugger all visible on one panel - with enough room to throw some TV in too.
just got a 4K 43" monitor (upgraded from a 27" 1080p one) and it looks and feels amazing, I'm sitting around 2 to 3 feet away and it is the best experience a gamer can have in my mind (I play mostly single player adventure/rpg/rts). It's demading though, my rtx 2080 super sometimes drops around 55-58 fps with all settings on ultra in the most demanding titles.
Today I tested a 4K 43" TV and just to say it's amazing is an insult to this marvelous experience. 🥰 How far do you use your monitor? I watched it at 83cm (2 feet 8in) and it was fine even though it's too close under retina standards and I had to get back to improve details.
This 6 year old video is still relevant. I'm interested in the 38 inch form factor but only Asus is doing that at the moment, and you know its way too expensive.
For competitive gaming I wouldn't go bigger than 32", I did have 40" 4k screen for a while but after the wow factor wears off and you start playing fast paced FPS it just gets you killed.
I would only game 32” and up. And even 32” is starting to feel small. I want a 4K tv or 1440p at 144hz or 240hz. Done with 60hz just don’t want a 27”, way too small.
Been using Philips 40" 4K for 2 years now. Finally you have seen the light a 4K gaming in big enough screen. Also I think 40-43 is big enough but the very best panels aka LG OLED are 55".
I'm currently using a 40" 4K Seiki Pro as my primary work monitor. I feel that it's great for office work. I read and edit a lot of documents and the size allows for near 1:1 page on screen, no zooming or scrolling necessary. And goodness, spreadsheet work is a breeze when you have all that real estate to work with. I think there's room for larger monitors (no pun intended), especially when using a standing desk.
I just did the math. The dot pitch would be about that of a 22 inch FHD. Sitting on a desk at the normal position would be about right, with everything just slightly smaller than on my 24 inch FHD. A LOT of people have 27 inch monitors side by side, or even in threes. I see this as a daily driver PC monitor sitting at the desk in the living room, as well as for watching shows and movies on it on the couch across the room. Perfect size. Not too large to be impractical as a computer monitor on a desk, yet large enough to be a small mid-sized TV screen replacement for HTPC, with monitor response times for couch gaming.
Exactly what I was saying to my wife. Go to the big box store, and a 40 inch UHD TV with crap response time, and crap color reproduction will cost as much.
+rajesh koothrappali yeah it's not great for checking the map. But at this size, I play at 1440p and you can see everything haha. Really gives your an advantage in seeing players in the distance.
have been using this one for a year now .. 1. takes few days to get used to the size 2. great thing for productivity 3. awesome price to qulity ratio 4. Sound on this monitor is great as well;
Does this TV have wall mounting support ? If so then it won't occupy such a huge desk space and the desk can be moved back to get a comfortable viewing. angle.
i've played on a 4k monitor for months now, yes it took me a little while to get used to the size increase, no i won't go back to smaller ones. i love space.
HomeAutomationX Lol? You're going to have to use a controller or mouse/KB from a mile away... No need to get a big monitor and have to sit a mile away, just get 24-32" and sit an arms length away...
I have a large living room and I've been using a 40" '1440p' 128hz tv for gaming for a very long time. This monitor is perfect! I would like to see it in 55", with both Freesync and G-sync versions of it.
That TV, wait monitor is awesome. Thank you LG! Your points about the size of the monitor are correct about larger monitors. There's nothing like a large monitor for working.
I really like the size but still can't select between that one and 32UD99 that got HDR10 and better colours. Is there big different and i should agree with 32 inch to get best colours ?
I got this monitor. I went from a 24" to this and it's indeed comical, the size difference. Pictures and videos don't do this monitor justice, in real life it is absolutely enormous on your desk. I recommend a monitor arm, so you can put it all the way back and almost all the way down to the surface of the desk, but make sure you get an arm that can handle this monitor.
I have a hard time using small monitors I can barely see so this one makes me much happier. I'm not a gaming freak so 60 fps are more than enough for me, 4K looks great!.
50" 4K Hisense. What makes a big screen even better is flanking it with a portrait monitor. Nice to have full screen Hardware Canucks on the 50 with Twitter/Facebook open on the portrait.
I game on a 42" Smart TV... it's priceless. I think its the perfect amount of screen to experience graphics and cinematics. 48" works too. In my case, i don't have room for an extra monitor so i use my smart tv in movie mode so its not too bright and still looks great.
Thank you.... I have a 27 inch now & you just sold me on this 43... I use klipsch sixes with 2 svs SB-3000 subwoofer for my computer sound... that jams!
Thank you for this review! 👍I found it very useful! I mistt just one info... Could you please tell, if this monitor is capable of supporting multi-screen workspace when you use _only 1 input_? 🤔 So not simply setting it to 4K, and resizeing and dragging-dropping eg. side-by-side manually my workspaces to the overall desktop, but a dedicated setting to split the monitor's work area in a similar way you presented at 3:37 for multiple inputs. You know I'd like to use this monitor as an "allrounder" multimedia solution, and the dedicated multiscreen support would be great for home studio purposes, where I'm using my PC. Thank you for the info in advance!
Seems like 40" @ 110 ppi would be better than 43" @ 102.5 ppi? Few comments of needing to sit further back as not to have to move neck around too much? So 40" 4K ideal? Still using this as primary display? Waiting for something with a higher refresh rate too...
I use a 2015 Samsung 48 4K TV as a monitor. All you need is a fairly deep desk + wallmount to keep the screen as close to the wall and as low to the desk as possible. I don't think I'm going smaller screen size ever.
Damn! This monitor is DOPE! I've been using the 2560x1600 30 inch Apple HD Cinima Display since 2007 and haven't found any reason to upgrade.... but this.... this... might do it.
All depends on your needs and work space, I sit about arms length away from a 55" 4K HDR TV... Which I use as a monitor for non competitive single player gaming experiences
I thought you guys saying 27" 1080p has a bad size to screen resolution ratio, that 27" monitor supposed to come in 4k display. 4k monitor in 43" that close technically will be pixelated and too stretched out comparatively having the pixel size of a stretched 27" display only in FHD. am I missing out something?
Are you going to be using this for your gaming as well? Would you be able to have 4 corners as a different screen but for 1 PC? I want to be able to play like PUBG in 1 corner and have the 3 other corners on youtube, discord etc.
43" sounds great. I'm running a 40" Samsung 6300 series 4K TV from last year as a monitor. A 43" or a 50" would be even nicer I think. A little bigger screen would be a bit bigger text with the same number of pixels in the font. It only took two weeks to assimilate stepping from 24" HD to 40" 4K. Somewhere around 55", I think 5K would be handy. This is the best price I've seen for an actual big monitor. I hope they sell like crazy.
Saw this reviewed somewhere else recently.. I think it looks good, but personally I would rather have a 55" or bigger that I can use as a home theater tv... since I'm in the market for a big 4k tv, but I don't want a TV that comes with all of the usual TV junk added in.
Would you pick this monitor over the Vizio E 43 inch? I need a tv/monitor for my small living room and don't really want to go over 50 inches. This seems to be the hot spot in size. Thoughts?
obviously this vids quite old now, but i've been using a 55" 4k screen for quite some time now, and while i cop if from most PC guys i know, i honestly couldn't go back to a "normal" sized monitor, it certainly takes time for people to get used to, and there's things like needing to have the monitor height just right to avoid strain, and you do need to sit back a little further than you might normally, but once you're used to it, so much real estate just feels so damn good... simply from a productivity stand point, it's literally 4x 27" 1080 displays without bezels, there's so much room for activities, i often use it as show above, with 4 windows open in the corners..... i also do my fair share of gaming, and admittedly you have to get the right screen to have a remotely enjoyable time, as most "TV's" suck here... for my Sony, the only drawback is input lag at 34ms, but outside of competitive shooters, it's a perfectly fine compromise... but it is a compromise... i'm currently waiting for the 65" Nvidia BFGD to release, i'll be front of the line for that one
I just built a new computer and picked up a 43" 4k t.v. at Costco for $350. They had 1 day specials, I think they where trying to move old product out for Holiday stuff coming in. Bigger is better baby!!!
I use a 40" 4K TV as a monitor and I had the same problem of it being a bit too in my face. Solution? Wall mount! I gained a foot of distance (3 feet now, instead of just 2) and it's pretty much perfect at %150 scaling.
Interesting...I winder since this vid ks 2 years old if it's still your primary monitor today? I too have a 34" ultra wide and am thinking this monitor might be a better option.
hello friend, a question, what is the configuration in which you think the desktop monitor looks better, to work? of all the options that can be selected, in the custom ...
Being used to 120hz+ I am unsure whether to go for a 4k monitor like this. I do want a new screen for multitasking and web design work. but at the same time I like to game. Can I put up with 60hz? that is the question
Sorry for my english i'm french. I wonder if the Iiyama is not a best investment because it use a glossy screen for a better lights effects so even if in others stats are worst than the LG, i think it's more a gamer profile choice than something else .
STOP TOUCHING THE SCREEN
Jes! No touchingscreen!! Xd
AND STOP ENCODE BLACK BARS INTO VIDEO
jesus christ dude, it's fiiiiine, chill. it's not gonna explode wtf

Agreed. There are only a handful 43" monitors that have good response time. Hope that list grows.
43"?? i really like 24" monitors or 27" max!
Me too but I want those things (like not having Smart TV Apps) on a OLED TV. All the picture quality without the lag in a 70" plus TV.
Bloodangel.13 Yeah...I would like to see that price tag. My 65 inch LG OLED 4k and damn near 4k.

You wrote this comment 6 years ago and state you've used a 4k display for years.. Shit talking.
4k monitor with 144Hz/ G-sync/ IPS /HDR /1 millisecond response time no one has build one yet whats taking so long?
Jean-Luc Devon IPS and 1 ms response time...thats why. You need to go TN to get that.

I have the Philips 40” 4K (first gen) and it’d be very hard to go back to something smaller :)
That's what she said...hahahahaha...I know you are right I could not do it either...sorry...
I have a 40 inch tv but I use a 24 and 27 inch monitor for gaming
That was such an amazing intro!
"too big for gaming?" 😂😂😂😂
I laugh at your boundaries.
Hes right tho. Your thinking about casually playing mario on a couch lol. Not the same.
I would only game 32” and up.
And even 32” is starting to feel small. I want a 4K tv or 1440p at 144hz or 240hz.

I would buy this as a TV replacement for a console or HTPC . I don't see it being a standard monitor substitute.
700 is a lot to spend on a display thats not your daily driver in my opinion.
I just did the math. The dot pitch would be about that of a 22 inch FHD. Sitting on a desk at the normal position would be about right, with everything just slightly smaller than on my 24 inch FHD.

As for monitors nothing is too big. You just need to sit back a little further.
As for TV's mine is 60" and I'm thinking of getting a bigger one for the bedroom. Bigger is better
that what she said

No need for monitor/tv size higher than 32 inch on 0,5 m distance .
Hi dude:
I like the way you presented the stereo quality in the built-in speakers versus other. Good and crisp review man. Keep up the good work.
Hope you are doing well
All depends on your needs and work space, I sit about arms length away from a 55" 4K HDR TV... Which I use as a monitor for non competitive single player gaming experiences
What desk are you using Dmitry? I'm thinking of picking up one for myself. Thanks.
Great review!! Thank you so much! I just ordered one yesterday and should get it Friday! I AM SO READY!!!
Jeremy JMIAH Williamson I know it’s late but how are you liking it? Want to pick one up
I thought you guys saying 27" 1080p has a bad size to screen resolution ratio, that 27" monitor supposed to come in 4k display.
What is the dimension of your desk? Where is you put that 43 inch monitor.
Anyone know if there is a new model of this monitor? I see that this video was published in 2017.
I need more specs and technical details. Why not oled for gamming?
Alfredo Spath
1. Expensive as f***.
2. Burn in
Saw this reviewed somewhere else recently.. I think it looks good, but personally I would rather have a 55" or bigger that I can use as a home theater tv... since I'm in the market for a big 4k tv, but I don't want a TV that comes with all of the usual TV junk added in.
A shame it isnt 120Hz and if I'm not mistaken it lacks HDR as well?
+Skott62 no HDR here :(
A real shame. They came very close to a excellent pc monitor
Would you pick this monitor over the Vizio E 43 inch? I need a tv/monitor for my small living room and don't really want to go over 50 inches. This seems to be the hot spot in size. Thoughts?
Can you tell us what the name of the mouse you were using can you send me a link for purchase
Thx
What desk are you using? I'm thinking of getting a 43" monitor soon and need the space. I want to have a setup like you.
This is a monitor size that actually makes sense for 4k resolution. Hope they make an 8k version moving forward.
No blackout/flickering problem so far?
Awesome video HardwareCanucks! Just like all your others :) Well Done!
obviously this vids quite old now, but i've been using a 55" 4k screen for quite some time now, and while i cop if from most PC guys i know, i honestly couldn't go back to a "normal" sized monitor, it certainly takes time for people to get used to, and there's things like needing to have the monitor height just right to avoid strain, and you do need to sit back a little further than you might normally, but once you're used to it, so much real estate just feels so damn good...
simply from a productivity stand point, it's literally 4x 27" 1080 displays without bezels, there's so much room for activities, i often use it as show above, with 4 windows open in the corners..... i also do my fair share of gaming, and admittedly you have to get the right screen to have a remotely enjoyable time, as most "TV's" suck here... for my Sony, the only drawback is input lag at 34ms, but outside of competitive shooters, it's a perfectly fine compromise... but it is a compromise... i'm currently waiting for the 65" Nvidia BFGD to release, i'll be front of the line for that one
I just built a new computer and picked up a 43" 4k t.v. at Costco for $350. They had 1 day specials, I think they where trying to move old product out for Holiday stuff coming in.
Bigger is better baby!!!
Hey there!
How is the color and brightness compared to other monitors, especially compared to something like a Dell 2515H?
Very well put together
32" at the back of your table is perfect
So, erm, What's the wallpaper on that LG with the blue square patterns. I've meant to ask that in another video before, but never got around to it.
would this be good for use from my couch? I sit 1.5m - 2m away from the monitor.
Such nice White swiss ! got one that is16months old. anyhow... great video as always :)
But where can I find that wallpaper I keep seeing in your videos?!
No G-sync and locked at 60Hz. Not sure I could go back to that after experiencing WQHD, 100Hz, 21:9 unless there was a 43" 120FPS option.
I use a 40" 4K TV as a monitor and I had the same problem of it being a bit too in my face. Solution? Wall mount! I gained a foot of distance (3 feet now, instead of just 2) and it's pretty much perfect at %150 scaling.
How similar is this unit to the Wasabi Mango UHD400 or larger sizes? Mine is 4k 60hz also.
Its 2019 and I just bought a TCL panel on amazon with 23ms response time for $225, its a great time to be alive.
23ms lol. You but a budget tv with the cheapest color engine. Wow just dont be poor bro.
Quattro 4 leave him alone let him spend his money however he wants to.
Have had one for about four months, great monitor! I do think that 42.5 is the ideal size if you have a deep desk.
Interesting...I winder since this vid ks 2 years old if it's still your primary monitor today? I too have a 34" ultra wide and am thinking this monitor might be a better option.
my ag322qcx is getting to small for me with its 32"
hello friend, a question, what is the configuration in which you think the desktop monitor looks better, to work? of all the options that can be selected, in the custom ...
how is the fontreadability at 100% without scaling ?
Being used to 120hz+ I am unsure whether to go for a 4k monitor like this. I do want a new screen for multitasking and web design work. but at the same time I like to game. Can I put up with 60hz? that is the question
Sorry for my english i'm french. I wonder if the Iiyama is not a best investment because it use a glossy screen for a better lights effects so even if in others stats are worst than the LG, i think it's more a gamer profile choice than something else .
Welcome to the hybrid tv era bro. Soon there's many like this with a lot of improvements. 2018 soon enough.
Keep up the good work.
Could you please test the Freesync range? According to specs it could be 56-60 hz but I haven't seen that tested yet.
When are you going to review Steelseries Apex 150 and Rival 110?
