    I've been on quite a few bikes over the years. I got the hawk dlx and love it. Almost 1000 miles on it so far, front forks are alittle soft, I put a shorter shock on it because it sets high. Shaved the bump of the seat and good to go. Only recommend carrying an extra battery if ur taking longer trips.

    To those that make fun of hawks and prefer bikes that cost 15x as much, this bike is super light and easy to pick up after you drop it and you will. Try lifting a BMW 1200 after you hurt your shoulder. Basic tools can fix these. I’d buy extra nuts and bolts after taking an inventory and going to Tractor Supply. Tighten often and use bolt glue. If you really need to do highway driving the sweet spot is 50-55MPH. Watch for tractor trailers as they will toss you with their wind.

    • @hanzdidit
      @hanzdidit  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      These are only a 5 speed as well and if it had a 6 it might work for highway speeds but I would not think about riding this in the Highway. I agree with you about checking bolts and keeping things tight with lock tight. I know you can get gears that will allow it to hit a higher top speed but out of the box these are definitely just commuters and off-road trail bikes. These are great bikes so have fun. Thanks for all the great information.

    Hanz... Quick question. I went to change my front fork oil in my 2022 Hawk DLX.... there was none in either fork. I put 5 ounces into each. Just making sure they are supposed to have fork oil... Suspension seems appropriately stiffer now, but I want to make sure these are not supposed to be DRY. Thank you.

    I have become interested in one of these.
    Basically though I want the inverted forks but I want a carburetor and not the EFI and of course this combo is not available in that configuration.
    The engine is basically an old Honda design clone which the Chinese have gotten really good at making these old Honda designs.
    I really do not want the EFI as at that point you are adding in a more complex system into an otherwise simple designed overall bike involving a Fuel controller computer which in the future could become a nightmare to source one if required while there are multiple sources for a good old cheap carb that will work if problems develop.
    Right now I am finishing up a Chinese 125cc CT70 clone and one of these 250cc bikes may be a project in the near future.
    A lot of people knock the bikes of Chinese origin but I am an old retired guy and well remember when the bikes coming out of Japan had the same reputation.
    One thing to consider is The Chinese have a serious thing about being lackluster on lubricating parts and you will do yourself a long term favor by pulling and lubricating the rear swing arm bearings, steering head bearings, wheel bearings basically anything that has a moving contact point give it a little lubrication while it is brand new, a slight coating of grease film on the axles and the swing arm pivot bolt is something else which will go a long ways to keeping those in pristine shape as again it is well known most Chinese steel rust very easily.
    Also put a good coat of wax on all chrome or painted parts and if you stay up on your maintenance and keep your chain lubed and adjusted and your engine oil changed these Chines bike may surprise you on how they holdup under the types of use they are actually designed for.
    Just something of interest for people in 2023 Honda is importing a new xr150cc bike into the U.S.A. which has been available in other parts of the world for a number of years now.
    What is interesting is the engine on that bike is a retro design being produced by a factory in China in partnership with Honda to produce this engine.
    The bikes will be built for North America in Mexico but still be a Honda branded bike sold in Honda dealerships.
    Some research on that bike overseas says it is reliable for the most part but the fit and finish and build quality does not meet the same criteria as more expensive Honda models which the XR150 is said to be at a retail price upon release in the U.S.A. AT $2971 plus freight and dealer prep of like $300 or so.
    When you make a bike to meet certain price points there have to be certain sacrifices made to reach that selling point.
    So just because it is produced in China does not mean it is any more inferior to what is being turned out in other places.
    Since you have owned both what is your opinion on the difference between the two fork styles?

    • @hanzdidit
      @hanzdidit  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you are a new ride or you will not be able to tell a difference. If you are experienced as a writer you should be able to feel a little performance difference. I think both of these bikes are great and you probably will not be disappointed with either one. Thanks for watching.

      On my second Hawk. I’d put warranty money in metric tools instead. Parts are cheap and abundant and easy to figure out. I have a KTM and petrified to work on it but love working on my hawk. Oil changes takes minutes and I even adjusted my valves. Buy some bolt threader though and tighten your spokes

    Is the shipping for the fi version $400 vs free shipping for the carb version on Amazon?

    • @hanzdidit
      @hanzdidit  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You need to pay attention when you are buying one of these there are two different versions of the hawk 250.. The basic version is very cheap about $1700. The DLX is going to cost about $2100. The most obvious way to tell the difference is the front forks. One is a standard fork and the other is a inverted fork. You can't see it in the photos but the DLX is a fuel injected version where the other cheaper version is carbureted. If you have the money I highly suggest getting the DLX.

    • @dubmob151
      @dubmob151 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, when it was available from Amazon, the DLX fuel injected model was about 400 more in the price, but they also charged $400 for shipping vs free shipping for the carbureted bike.
