    Quick question if I may. Can the forscan program the bcm?

  • @SaxJockey
    @SaxJockey 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thank you for the video. Interested to know what the approx cost would be to diagnose/repair/reprogram at a garage including parts, labour and tax? I have the same problem to investigate and assumed the most likely fault was the working hardware (actuator, switch or wiring that flexes when the tailgate opens/closes). A fault with the BCM (presumably a solid state 'high reliability' unit) would be a VERY disappointing relatively expensive fix for a fault with a single door lock 🙄.

    • @SYDiagnostics
      @SYDiagnostics  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Probably around £500-600 for that job including the diagnosis, parts and labour

      @@SYDiagnostics Many Thanks...bit of a shocker for a door lock fix 😲.

    • @SaxJockey
      @SaxJockey 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Had the car apart today, traced the fault to the tailgate release switch. Around 7 Megohm instead of continuity; new replacement on order. Had the switch apart (another vid on here shows it dissassembled), the extremely small moving electrical contact had broken and the mechanism lubricant had contaminated the contact. Your schematic diagram was useful. The very low control current from the switch to the body control module explains the rather delicate switch mechanism. The BCM handles the slightly higher current to the motor in the catch mechanism. I also had that apart, it looked in good condition, the motor and gears were clean, adequately lubricated and free to move. Bypassed the faulty switch and confirmed the motor/catch opened fine.

    • @SYDiagnostics

      Multi plugs are usually numbered. That bcm didn't need coding in. It was a direct fit. But had to configure it.... So forscan is worth a go
