- There has been a lot of cut content from the Pokemon games that's been discovered over the years, however, some of it is more strange than others. In this video, we're going to be looking at some of the more obscure pieces of cut content that each Pokemon generation has to offer, and take a look at what could have been had things turned out a little differently!

I wonder if marshadow was recycled from arceus art because they had something seperate planned for its shadow, like how shedinja and ninjask work, but then decided on adding giratina as its own entity. I always feel like it gets portrayed as the shadow of arceus and looking at that beta pokemon reminds me of it

Being robbed of not only Pokemon Z but a possible Pokemon X2 and Y2 makes me so incredibly sad as a Gen 6 stan.

Zygarde, and Kalos in general, deserves either an enhanced remake or a Legends-style game. Personally would prefer the latter tho, as we could possibly delve more into the story of AZ, Eternal Flower Floette, and the Ultimate Weapon as well.
I would be absolutely floors for a PLA style game for the XY remakes. It'd be an awesome opportunity to bring in AZ's Floette, more XY story and maybe Kalosian forms!
Or a Conquest style game that covers the war. Have it set up like Fire Emblem: 3 houses were you can actually have them running around with a battalion and play from that perspective or the tactics perspective
Not to mention the introduction of double battles and double battle specific moves that got introduced in gen 3. Water Sport was probably a key move for the sprinkler Pokémon and may have helped for its inspiration
About the connection between Zygarde to Yveltal and Xerneas:
It actually makes way more sense for these to be the Trio rather than Reshiram, Zekrom and Zygarde. The reason for this lies in the inspiration for the X&Y Trio. They are based on the pagan legend of Yggdrasil, the life tree, which is inhabited by an unnamed eagle (Yveltal), four stags (Xerneas) and a dragon that lives between it's roots (Zygarde, which also makes sense with the ground type).
That is true, but I have a feeling the final design for Zygarde isn't what it would have been if included in Black and White. It was probably during the redesign process for Zygarde that the Norse theme was chosen for the X and Y trio.
the charizard with one horn is interesting because charizard was origionally only going to have one horn. you can see one horned charizards in some of the early japanese artwork and on the japanese base set booster box.
Maybe the cut Pokemon from Gen 3 was a Pokemon that ended up being split into the Lotad and Seedot line… considering it was a Water Grass type and Shiftry has leaves for hands
Fusion should be a next Gimmick and those two would make that Sprinkler Pokemon.
Maybe it was cut because its design would resemble Skiploom's too much. That's the Pokémon I see most resembling a "sprinkler flower".
@@deviousj5868 The sheer number of combinations would be too big. Even if you only allow it with fully evolved Pokemon, it would be exponentially more Pokemon than we already have. And of course if they only allowed it between certain specific Pokemon...
Then we have some already. Kyurem's fusion forms and Nekrozma's fusion forms.
Zygarde is a sad case of a legendary. Was such a super cool Pokémon but its chance to have a real story to it was ripped from it TWICE and its multiple forms were left as a side story to games which in no way put emphasis on it
As far as cut content can go in other games, you're lucky this Pokemon wasn't omitted entirely and was even expanded up on in gen 7 and of course had Pokedex entries to give you an idea for why it appears in certain regions. Based on what we read about it for example, we can imagine that if the player didn't step up to necrozma and the island guardians didn't stand up to the ultra beasts, Zygarde most definitely would have. So basically, this Pokemon's existence in alola in particular is actually tied to the plot of the game but it's not in the plot. It's absolutely amazing that this bygone era lore was implemented into the game just because naturally and realistically and makes total sense that it should be there, therefore it's there. It's details like this that make the Pokemon world feel alive.
I actually like the idea of Zygarde being the Trio Leader of Zekrom and Reshiram since not only due to the points you've pointed out, but because its hexagonal design looks futuristic and remind me of certain things from the BW games, like the theme of modernity and the X-transceiver or even the dream land mechanic
I think another massive piece of zygarde being the original trio master is that it’s incomplete just like Kyurem.
I was around during the leak season for Gen 5 and definitely remember the green cobra thing, but I guess I out it aside after all these years. Not only did you awaken a long forgotten memory of mine but the info you provided convinced me that Zygarde really was meant for Gen 5. Imagine Zygarde having a lifespan of 3 generations, no legendary would've had such a treatment.
See, the whole "Zygarde in gen 5" theory does have points that make sense, though they aren't massive. The green cobra could be coincidence, or the idea for Zygarde was there (not necessarily as Zygarde just a "green cobra Pokemon", legendary or even mythical) but the plan was misinterpreted by the leaker. Balance is such a generic thing that it could work for a lot trios, though some a little less directly (a balance between night and day doesn't seem to make sense at first, but without night it would get too hot and without day most plant life wouldn't get enough light, for example). And Dragon is a popular type for legendaries, Ground makes sense for balance (its "grounded") as well as for a cobra. The issue is that even just as little as the "leak" said, the design doesn't fit in. Big, European style dragons, one black, one white, and... a green cobra or serpentine dragon, more like a wyvern or even a Lung. Why green? Why such a drastic design difference? Even if we assume that it didn't look like Zygarde as we know it, a green cobra doesn't really fit in with a big, black dragon and a big, white dragon. A big, green serpentine dragon ruling over a red behemoth and a blue leviathan? Sure. A centipede-like or serpentine ghost dragon acting as a balance to a blue quadrupedal dragon and a pink bipedal dragon? Makes enough sense. The embodiment of light acting as third to a sun lion and a moon bat? Yeah. Even what we did get makes sense. A green cobra balancing out a blue tree of life deer and a red and black death egg bird, three animalistic legendaries. A big, black dragon and a big, white dragon that were once part of a big, grey dragon makes sense. I just feel Zygarde wouldn't have fit in well.
On the other hand, that fact itself kind of makes it more believable. Fake leaks typically go with expected things from what fans want. Putting the grey dragon with the black and white dragons is expected, it makes sense. The green cobra is just so out of place it would make the leak seem dumb and wouldn't be smart to put in if you were really trying to make it believable. Not to mention it would also explain why GameFreak didn't go with it. They had the idea, it seemed alright, but then they just felt like a green cobra didn't really fit in with the other two, set it aside, and found a design that fit in better. But they liked the green cobra of balance and found a way to rework it into Zygarde.
Complete form Zygarde would have fit in with Reshiram and Zekrom a bit better, but it isn't a cobra. So if it was real, maybe they just preferred the idea of Reshiram and Zekrom effectively being two sides of the same coin and splitting from one unified Pokemon, which Zygarde would not fit the role of, but didn't want to scrap the design idea entirely. But then they couldn't manage to work it in properly with X and Y.
So yeah, kind of torn there. The aspects that don't make sense kind of make sense when you consider it was scrapped...
Of course, from what we see in the video, that supposedly reliable leaker is also (and has thus far continued to be) wrong about there being a Tauros evolution named Minotauros.
The "grounded" pun makes zero sense. It doesn't exist in Japanese and typings don't really have to do with wordplay anyway. And Zygarde as leaked was likely never meant to balance out Reshiram and Zekrom, but rather was likely a reserved concept.

This whole comment is bunk as shit, the entire point of the X/Y lore was to mimic the yggdrasil mythos, which zygarde fits into extremely well.
You said the leak said there would be 157 and that's one more than what actually came out, but in the leak it says there will be a Tauros evolution called minotauros. So that could have just been reserved for scarlet and violet.
The leaker could've just been referring to Bouffalant without knowing its name.

The fact that we didn't get Z and Eternal Flower Floette just goes to show that The Pokemon Company wants these games out asap and won't take no for an answer. XY were the only games to not get their 3rd/sequel game. Not to mention passing off the Gen 4 remakes that should have been a remake of Platinum to another dev team. TPC needs to chill and understand that the games need to come first and then the TCG and merchandise. There wouldn't be a TCG or merchandise if it weren't for the original Red and Green games.
legends arceus was the gen 4 remake. The other two were there because they knew that people would complain that that's not what they wanted.

Given that we know from PLA that the form of Arceus as we know it (the white and yellow form) isn't its complete form, it's my headcannon that Beta Arceus IS the complete form of Arceus

The only reason that Eternal Flower Floette didn't have an individual dex entry in Gen6 is that Pokemon only started giving individual dex entries for different forms of the same Pokemon since Gen7. This was NOT a thing in Gen6. In Gen7, all the Pokemon that get a Mega evolution in the Alolan dex also get dex entries for Mega forms. This was not in Gen6.
Yes it is possible Eternal Flower FLoette was planned for a possible "Pokemon Z" that got canceled. I just want to point out that the dex entry things were really just a coincidence since Mega forms are equivalent to the same situation for the dex entries. I know Hoops love to make a huge deal of some pure coincidence, but this one is really just this simple.

I have a theory on the wishing chips: so the wishing piece is very random on what star level you will get when you toss it into the dens. What if the wishing chip was meant to be a way to control it? It says throw in a number of them, so maybe the number you threw in would determine what star level the raid would be. Like throw in just one for a one star, two for a two star, etc.
One thing that annoys me about Galar is that Galarian Zigzagoon is the true one and the one in hoenn is the regional form

honestly i think we are all to quick to dismiss leaks as false just because they dont come true in the very next game. for example a leak that came out before the release of lets go pikachu and evee predicted that their would be no mega evolutions, that their would be a new battle system that featured a rock paper sizors type mechanic, and that the region would be set in either spain or itally and the plot would center around tradition vs innovation. these predictions did not come true for lets go obviously but the no megas came true in sword and shield, the battle system came true in legends arceus, and the spain region with a plot centered around tradition vs innovation seems to be talking about scarlet and violet. the leaker also had a good track record predicting team rainbow rocket long before its announcement. so maybe we should reevaluate some older leaks. game development is tricky and just because something is not present in the final game does not mean it was not planned for it.
Great video! For some reason when I think about a Kalos third version or remake Pokemon Z comes to mind obviously but if there was two versions the name that springs to mind for me is Pokemon X & Y Z-reversion.
The beta Arceus design gives me placeholder vibes. What's more likely is that they were just using it as a placeholder sprite while testing the game's functionality, while the actual design was being finalized. It's so featureless that I doubt it was even in consideration for the final game. Can you imagine if they unveiled the God of the Pokemon world, and it was just... that?
Zygarde also fits with Solgaleo and Lunala as the "earth" Pokemon.
There's no way it'll happen by I hope we get a Pokémon legends arceus style game in Kalos during the time where AZ was king

Even then, Zygarde's connection to Reshiram and Zekrom is shallow at best.
Zygarde's design is heavily rooted (ha!) in Norse mythology (Loki's children and all that), which has no significant connection to the Gen 5 games.
...and Kyurem makes more sense as the leader of the Tao trio, being based on Wuji, the limitless void before and between Yin and Yang, further held up by the ice typing based on the coldness of space without the limits of Taiji, and Kyurem's body shape keeps with the theme of the other two: western dragons.
I didn't know it was a fake leak, since it was very close in predicting some stuff… but I agree… like… come on! As terrified as I am of Kyrem (which is kinda it's whole point) even I understand why it's the Trio Master of the Tuo Trio… it's about the ABSENCE of Yin-Yang, not BALANCE… it was literally the leftovers after the Twin Kings disagreed, and broke the original Dragon apart for crying out loud! I wouldn't want balance if _I_ was just the leftovers!

It might be interesting to see Zygarde in the Gen 5 Legends arceus game. Since we know a lot about what was going on in the ancient past of unova. Kyurem wouldn't make all that much sense to stop the Union Yang from scorching the world and subsequently destroying it. But you know who would Zygarde. It wouldn't even be all that far fetched to say it wasn't in unova around the time. It's a ground servant one known to dig through the Earth. As it lives in deep cave systems.
if there's one thing we can learn from this video, it's that zygarde deserved so much more
Two things, firsr: technically AZ Floette data is in Pokémon Home, but it doesn't completely work if you hack it in (like it doesn't shows its sprite in the Switch version). Second: for Beta Arceus you used a black Arceus (probably a plate dark/ghost type if it even exists the sprite), but the original form is actually light brown, I'm not sure why you used a black version if not to resemble better Marshadow and to have a nicer image for the video, though it goes further away from the theory of them looking like each other, I would have preferred you pointed that out honestly.

I personally think the Zygarde Gen 5 theory to be true. Not only does it fit perfectly, but Zygarde did happen _one generation later,_ which makes it likely to have been cut content from a previous game. Yes, the design doesn't fit, but who knows how Zygarde actually looked in Gen 5. It could have had a very different design, after all.
They better not give us a lackluster gen 6 remake when the time finally comes. Would be really cool if we get a legends zygarde game. You know, in the year 2047

The two Kalos reserve entries prove NOTHING. Way to conveniently forget Japanese Blue and Yellow in Gen 1. The "Reserve 3/Reserve 4" thing was probably done for EVERY gen as a contingency. The XY&Z portion of the anime's proof enough of ONE game.

The theory with Zygard being a part of the Tuo Trio fails very fast actually when you think about it. The thing with the Tuo Trio is SUPPOSED to represent opposites and the ABSENCE of those opposites… not the Order and Balance of them.
Plus, Kyurem's supposed to be a husk of the what was left behind when the Twin Kings caused the split, a snake leaves BEHIND husks, but is not a husk itself.
Therefore, Zygard couldn't possibly be the third legendary of the Tuo Trio at all because lore and actuality wise… it wouldn't make sense at all.
And that's coming from someone who's terrified of Kyrem, by the way!
I will say, Lockstine goes into a good half hour explanation about the lore behind the Tuo Trio and how it makes sense (like how there's no Pokemon Grey, and why Kyrem specifically only goes after one or the other not both…) a lot more than I can explain in a simple comment.
I'm sorry but Zyarde was never gonna be the gen 5 legendary,
we can look at the in game evidence for this, as they have never had a starter be the same colour AND animal/base design as a legendary/ box art.
gen 1, green flower toad, blue cannon tortoise, red dragon - white and purple humanoid cat, pink cat
gen 2, green dino, blue croc, yellow and black badger - red/orange rainbow bird, white bird thing
gen 3, green gecko, red humanoid chicken, blue mudfish - red lizard, blue orca, green snake dragon
gen 4, green tortoise, Red monkey, blue penguin - blue dragon, pink dragon, black, white and red demon dragon
BUT your saying;
Gen 5 green snake, red pig, blue otter - black dragon, white dragon, green snake? not grey dragon
i don't buy it.
now balance works just as well for truth and ideal or yin and yang, as you need a balance but the point was they are split from the og dragon, so it should be devoid of balance, or be wuji so, once again Zyarde makes no sense.
fire and electricity generate heat so ice makes more sense thematically then ground does other then ground beats fire and electric, which would make more sense if zyarde was the OG dragon itself.
This beta Shinx sprite looks even cuter than the actual Shinx! That’s incredible!
The marshadow links are tenuous. This is just two Pokémon with Black/grey body and red eyes. Not that uncommon or original. A bit of a stretch to think they were even remembering a generic early design
Another thing about Zygarde is that in the anime, Complete Forme Zygarde is a combination of a two Zygarde Cores (one has red spots and the other has blue spots) and a bunch of Zygarde Cells. Zygarde being completed by combining two Cores might be another leftover from its supposed original design as a Gen 5 pokémon. Maybe the "green cobra" pokémon is supposed to be the Original Dragon where Zekrom and Reshiram came from.
I'm now super dissapointed we didn't get X2,Y2 or Pokèmon Z. I really enjoyed Kalos as a region despite the games flaws

As a potion vs a max potion or full restore
As for the chip it says you need a number of them to attract a pokemon, like how you'd need a number of potions to heal your pokemon since plain old potions only heal 20 hp
But for the piece you only need one to throw to attract a pokemon, much like you'd only need one max potion to heal your Pokemon's hp to full or a full restore to heal both hp to max and heal all status conditions
Zygarde's design, now that you mention it, does fit the style of the unova pokemon

I noticed a little oversight. The forest was actually not a reference to the forest itself but was a cleaver reference to Logan Paul.
Instead of pokemon Z we got omega ruby and alpha sapphire peris a sapphire. We were not robbed.
What do people think is going to happen with the anime? S&V come out in 3 months so they're going to be rapping up this season of the anime soon.

Arceus and Marshadow have no connection? Marshadow could have been Arceus' shadow, and was given life... originally names Archadow.
Judging by the 100%zygarde idea, the next 2 kalos games were 'orange and purple' which they used as colors for Sun and Moon... but what games are releasing this year, and has a region close to kalos? I've also speculated that next will be gen 6 remakes, since we already had 4 gen5 games.

You easily could have said "Xerneus is blue, Yveltal is red, and zygarde is green" thats the same concept and same generation
@@PatGencarelli yep but he was taking about the theory that Zygard was intended for gen 5 as the counterpart to Zekrom and Reshiram so that’s why I made that comment
I don’t buy that Gen 5 leak mainly because it says other things that were also incorrect. Would have been a way better fit though!
