    Many of us are looking for ways to be legal with our dirt bikes on public land and save a little coin. Sometimes I'll install an entirely new silencer which is internally spark arrested, and other times I'll install something like this product from Fisch Moto.
    This thing is USFS approved and installs in only mere minutes. It might be just the thing you've been looking for.

    Keep in mind that on a 2 stroke bike, I'd MUCH rather install an FMF Turbine Core 2.0 USFS approved silencer because I don't want to plug up my exhaust with a screen, but this is a good option at a much lower price point for the 4 strokes. Just throwing it out there for those on a budget.

      Just installed the 2.0 and it really works well with the fmf header… power band is expanded and lower end lug feels smoother

      My experience with the Fish Moto insert (we use one in four 2 stroke bikes right now) is that the screws don't come back out very easy without the Allen wrench rounding out inside the screw or else it rounds off the end of the Allen wrench so I just blow them out periodically with a propane torch while leaving in place. If you do remove it to clean it, just using a cleaning solvent or whatever else does not clean it out as well. The torch sure does though.

      I completely agree if you do not clean this spark arrest or screen after every 4 to 5 hours of writing it will get clogged up and you will have problems

    I just installed one of these on my kx250x and was super impressed with the package. Lock tight, tool, extra screws...made well. The cost savings over buying a muffler with screen is absurd. Worth every penny.

    I love this thing. I bought one for my YZ250FX when I bought it. Works like a charm. It did soften the power a touch when I installed it. Nothing that is super noticeable or bad I'd say.

    We use these 3 of these on 6 of our 2 strokes. Just remember to clean it out after a few hours run time with a propane torch because they will plug up.

    Good solution to get compliant if you you don’t want change out an exhaust. But it makes me wonder ever seen a spark coming out of a MC exhaust? 40 years never seen one. How long do you think a bike that is spitting hot chunks of steel will run? Good story line for Myth Busters.

      I also thought that SA were not necessary. That is until last winter where the group I was in actually caused a fire in dry leaves. Luckily we stopped shortly after and saw some smoke coming up through the trees about 1/4 mile back. We were able to go back and kick it out.

    That's exactly what I used on my KTM 450 XC-F, works perfect and saves a s*** ton of $$$ plus it softens the power a touch which is nice for trail use and quiets things down a touch!!

  • @JohnSmith-dj5gf

    Don’t run these on carbureted two strokes, especially if you ride at varied altitude where your jetting may not be perfect. They clog up and cause poor running esp at high rpm with ~50% power reduction. The issues are almost identical to a poorly jetted bike so you could be chasing jetting problems for months when the true problem is the clogged screen. I installed one in my brand new YZ250X and slowly over time the performance got worse and worse. I kept changing jets trying to improve it with no luck. My buddy recommended removing it and when I did the bike turned into an animal. Couldn’t believe how strong it ran without that clogged spark arrestor. When I pulled it out it was like having a wet sock stuffed in the exhaust. I ride in New Mexico between 4500-9000ft, JD jetting kit, 172 main, blue needle third clip, air screw 1 1/4 turns out, runs perfect now.

    Been using thus SA on my KTM 300 XCW for 2 years in order to pass tech….works fairly well..the only issue is when you install the insert using the 3mm set screws with locktite…come service time..you’ll never be able to remove the set screws…you’ll round off the set screw….they are way too
    small…be warned..

    • @carlatamanczyk3891

    On mine, I didn't even have to use the screws. The fit was tight and exhaust exerts almost no real pressure so it ain't coming out. To take it out, I can pry it out with a screw driver or just unbolt the end of the exhaust up and take off to clean. Easy peasy and so cheap. $80

    I use one of these on my stock 2021 YZ250FX exhaust. Works great. More affordable than a new slip on and easier to install than an exhaust end cap from someone like Fastway. Rode a whole season on it. Never fell out.

  • @Vex_Offroad

    Seems pricey for the 2 stroke KTM crowd. EE makes a whole replacement end cap that doesn’t restrict the size down for nearly the same price.

    • @Dat_Sun
      @Dat_Sun 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The ee cap doesn't fit the new mufflers. I ordered one for my 22TE150I and it is entirely incorrect. The mufflers have been changed but the ee screen cap did not get updated yet. I said enough of this bs and I just ride with the original muffler as is. So far I haven't burnt any forest down with my bikes. In fact I don't think anyone has.

    • @DirtBikeChannel
      @DirtBikeChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      EE replacement cap/screen for the 2 strokes is nearly the cost of the FMF turbine core 2, so I don't buy those anymore. And yes, they can still plug up with oil, which the turbine core 2 and 2.1 doesn't.

    • @Dat_Sun
      @Dat_Sun 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DirtBikeChannel
      I bought the turbine core for my new te150 (needed a screen to be compliant).
      I felt the turbine core fit and finish was China at best. The end cap and inlet are pressed on and the can has no finished edge at the endcap. This makes the can look unfinished and pre-dented. Fmf slapped an ugly sticker all the way at the end to hide the unsightly dents from the press fitted endcap.
      Fmf was a step down in appearance and quality, I didn't keep it on the bike. If the ee cap would have fit the new design oe silencer and not be prone clogging like you stated, I would have it.
