He needs to STOP saying that “We know he gives EVERYTHING, he doesn’t cheat us.” No he doesn’t-he NEVER plays defense. Defense is mostly effort. Never said he had to be a DPOY guy but he is/was far too athletic to have never given effort on that side of the court. There are other ways to effect the game when you can’t shoot

This season is becoming fun, as fans we are gaining hope and pride in this team. FINALLY we can watch our team WINNING and having FUN on the court. Not to hate on a man I don’t know, but what exactly is Russ good at on the court other than getting to the rim. Can’t shoot, can’t defend, not a great ball handler compared to other NBA level PGs, doesn’t really set screens, not a high IQ player, now a poor FT shooter too. Genuinely asking because if I’m missing something it’ll be nice to understand why he’s got so many supporters.

Also, if you're taking everything Russ says in interviews at face value, then you might want to learn to read people and situations a little better. Last year he claimed he had no interest in winning a title. Then in the offseason goes and joins a team that is only interested in winning a title. This year he says he doesnt take any of the criticism to heart, but starts hesitating when taking shots and making decisions on the court, then comes out and complains about being called Westbrick. Not to mention the tone of his voice during some of these interviews now. He's acting like nothing gets to him, but clearly it does.
Westbrooks should have been benched a long time ago. Melo needs to sit. They don't play defense a lot of times.

Russ always had issues with shooting and shot selection. He never worked on it because he kept cheating on defensive assignments to chase triple doubles and now that he can't do that on the Lakers he's been exposed.

The thing is he isn’t too old to change his game. He a point guard. Why is he taking these ridiculous low percentage shots? He’s still an incredible athlete with tons of talent and if he would just evolve the game would come to him. There’s no crime in not being who you were in your prime… pick your spots and evolve and he could still be a viable point guard.
