I’ve been watching all your Ornaments and Crime tutorials and they’ve all been very helpful. This app would be very nice for ambient music. Thank you for sharing!
I need an O_c module stat! Thank you for this awesome tutorial. The SWN has an arpeggiator mode but this gives you better control over making chords than using the spread control.
Glad you found it helpful! I really like the arp mode on the SWN (and have been playing around with it a lot). Harrington + spread mode on the SWN is a killer combo
I’ve just bought a uO_C (and recently sold my SWN, but no matter) and am finding this series invaluable. I’d had the idea of semi-random triggers from Pam’s before you mentioned it, so my brain must’ve attuned to the H1200 concept faster that it did Quantermain!
GREAT ! Super clear and usefull tutorial. I am a big O & C fan and use it a lot (mainly Piqued, Quantermain and CopierMaschine) but still this video helps me further, as I have not been using Harrinton 1200 much till now. But this will certainly change as results of this video.
Superb video, very explicit and easy to follow/understand. Stupid question: would there be three VCOs required to produced a chord? (question is based on yours having six but only using three) cheers and thanks!
@@SynthDad One final thing - would you mind (time permitting) making a tutorial on Noise Eng.’s Mimetic Digitales? it’s such a useful sequencer, but it confuses the be-Jesus out of me!
Thanks for this. I'm looking to use more chords in my tunes but can't afford to use 3 or 4 oscillators doing so! Is it possible to run the chord outputs to something like the microfreak (paraphonic) with a cv to midi converter?
question about that Decca. I got one awhile back after seeing this video; but I notice the push buttons "bounce" a lot of the time. Meaning they will trigger twice. Do yours also do this?
excellent, thank for sharing. This firmware in the Ornament does other things as well right? is the inly firmware that does this? its confussing between firmwares and modes...
Yes it does, "standard" firmware comes with 13 'apps' built in which I cover in these videos. Because it's open-source in design others have developed alternate firmware images for it. You load these using a USB cable - I show how to do that in my Hemispheres tutorial video in this series. Different firmware provide new apps, or a whole new way of using the O_C
Hopefully you ll be reading this, can i utilise pams instead of deca to send open gate? - obv given the question im new to this world Thank you again for all the videos very helpful
Hi - yes Pams is perfect for gates/triggers. It is one of the most common uses for it. Lots of videos explain it, and the manual covers it in great detail too
You can choose gate types on Pams, for example there is a mode to fire a trigger once only, or open a gate and keep it high for the duration of playing. If you want the gate to remain open for a vaiable amount of time map the Width parameter to CV1 and modulate it with a CV into CV1
Great video....but...as a total noob who's just built o_c and doesn't have any experience of pams/SWN/whatever that other module is, it's kinda hard to follow what is actually happening.
This was excellent! Thank you for doing this. There is a real shortage of good O&C demos/tutorials out there.
Glad it was helpful!
Top notch production and great explanation as always. Love the videos. Thank you for all your work. You are a incredible source of inspiration.
Thank you so much for the kind words! I enjoy making them, stay tuned for more!
This is by far my favorite video series on ornament and crime so far. Thanks.
Thank you for watching!
@@SynthDad Thanks for creating them.
What a convoluted way of making music
Pre cicely - eurorack is all about making the easy stuff hard and the hard stuff easy
my brain is humming along thinking of the possibilities of making music with these type of tools! Very stimulating! Great exploration. Thanks
Awesome, thank you!

Thank you for taking the time to watch!
Every video you make inspires me to try something new, thank you very much.
Happy to hear that!
Inspiring! Def moving my OC to my skiff and going through your tutorials. Thanks again SynthDad!
You’re welcome!
So good! You made me buy an o_C. I would love to see more videos like that.
Thanks! I’ve a series of them on my channel which I’m adding to all the time. Stay tuned for more
very cool. please do more in depth videos on making chords with the oc plz :)
Thanks, I’ll keep that in mind
Thanks for quieting the menu dive demons that take hold with this one.
Happy to help quell those demons!
love this series, thanks for your hard work!
Thank you for watching!
absolutely stellar vid
Thank you appreciate it!

Great to hear! I need to go look at Piqued and Quantermain next
Superb video, very explicit and easy to follow/understand. Stupid question: would there be three VCOs required to produced a chord? (question is based on yours having six but only using three) cheers and thanks!
Thanks for the kind words! Yes you would need a 3 VCO setup to produce a triad chord, or 4 VCOs for a 4-note chord etc.

So helpful aided by your delivery. Ta.
Received my O_c yesterday. Thanks, friend!
Hope you enjoyed it and found it useful!
Great video! I’d love to see you cover other apps in the o_C.
Working on it - stay tuned. Have you seen the tutorials I made on Copiermaschine and Sequins? Let me know which app you'd like to see covered next?

Yes absolutely! That would be a very clever idea
question about that Decca. I got one awhile back after seeing this video; but I notice the push buttons "bounce" a lot of the time. Meaning they will trigger twice. Do yours also do this?
They do unfortunately, seems like it is part of the design

Hi - yes Pams is perfect for gates/triggers. It is one of the most common uses for it. Lots of videos explain it, and the manual covers it in great detail too
@@SynthDad thanks. Is there a way to send a continuous open gate - or is it a case to play with modifier values?
You can choose gate types on Pams, for example there is a mode to fire a trigger once only, or open a gate and keep it high for the duration of playing. If you want the gate to remain open for a vaiable amount of time map the Width parameter to CV1 and modulate it with a CV into CV1
Nice tutorial, thanks. Do you know another module similar like Decca? Thanks again
Not sure really; a quick search on ModularGrid should give you some ideas
hello i m looking for a module as modular maritime DECCA ; do you have an idea about something similar. Cause i can t find the DECCA
thank you
by the way thanks for yous modulars tutorial
Very good tutorial , thanks!
Thanks for watching and glad you found it useful!
I recently heard that the term 'hipster' was started in the 1940s to refer to fans of jazz music and their friends. It wasn't meant as a pejorative.
It's funny how words shift and change over the years.
@@SynthDad Yes, now 'hipster' is developing a connotation of someone who is trying too hard to be trendy but disingenuously so.
Nice! Thanks for the excellent info!
Thank you for watching!
Is it possible to input 3 pitches from an external source that are already in a chordal relationship and have it do a transformation?
Unfortunately no - the CV inputs are only for mapping the transforms or euclidean mode parameters
these videos are great man. thanks.
Thanks for watching!
wonderful and useful
Thank you!
thank you, very interesting
You are welcome!
Great explanation, Would you be so kind to do the same for Curds? That app just baffles me :D
Yes Curds, Piqued and Quantermain are next on the list to make tutorials on. Stay tuned!
@@SynthDad subscribed :) Keep up the good work!!
Great video....but...as a total noob who's just built o_c and doesn't have any experience of pams/SWN/whatever that other module is, it's kinda hard to follow what is actually happening.
Thanks for the feedback. What parts of it need better explanation?
o+c is so good for microtonal
does this work in hemisphere?
No this is the standard firmware not Hemispheres
thanks for French subtitles
You're welcome!
btw if you haven't fell down the rabbit hole a purchased a sinfonion, it's a super module. Not for then bank balance.
Yeah I've been steering clear of the Sinfonion, not because it's not amazing (it is) but because of the cost!
I was using this app on my O_C but when I shift chords, it keeps pitching down infinitely... is there any way around that?
Oddly enough I find that mine pitches up constantly. I found the best workaround was to send a trigger into TR1 to reset it
Wow. What perfect timing. I just got my uO_c yesterday and am pretty lost. Great video and thanks for posting!
You're welcome! Enjoy exploring the module
Hipster friends.. Lol... They can't afford the modular my synthnerd friends have. They spend all their money on other thiiings... 🤔😁
Also. Nice tutorial. Subscribed.
Thanks! I don't think hipsters want to spend time with an uncool synthdad like me :)
@@SynthDad You will be fine.. Lol ;-)
