Thanks for watching! Do you know any foster kids who may need your help as they age out of foster care?

This is exactly why my family will be choosing older kids to foster.

Lucrece, wow! This was my first time watching one of your TH-cam videos, simply amazing! Angela's story brings to mind numerous teens we have encountered through Teen Reach Adventure Camps (T.R.A.C.) (. Many of them hold on to that victim mentality and have a difficult time dreaming, drawing, singing about the future they really want. Thanks for all you do and for sharing this story.

Actually in my state it is that way unless you've become close with a foster family or are good terms with a parent I have three friends that are homeless cause they aged out and have no where to go and because they were moving around couldn't get a job so no money either

I always wondered why most kids that end up aging out of the system have no where else to go and are homeless. If the family they were living with decide they want to keep them and continue to care for them, why can’t they? They are all adults can’t they make an agreement amongst themselves?

Did you ever speak to your foster mother about why she didn’t feel safe with you living there?

    • @Lucrecebundy
      @Lucrecebundy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

Hi, she did speak with her foster mother. This video is an edited version of her full story. You can find the link to the full story after I upload it. The gist of it is that her foster mother was a liar, brought men to the house night after night, would leave Angela alone with strangers all the time and accused her of partying during the day...there's a lot more but I didn't want the story about the foster mother to dampen what this video is about - Angela. The truth is that Angela should have never been put in that foster home because it was terrible.

Lucrece, what do you think about mixed-race foster homes? Specifically, a black married couple fostering white and Hispanic kids? How common is this? Is a same-race placement preferred?

This is something. Be like a parent to orphans,
and take care of their mothers
as you would your own wife or husband.
Do this, and you will be like a child
    of the Most High,
    and God will love you
more than your own mother does.

Now that There is marriage equality between gay and straight couples There should be equality between foster children and adoptive Children.

I'm having a hard time believing this. All homes aren't great this we know. The system will help those that are trying to help themselves. You can remain in care after 18, or you can choose independently living. When you turn 21 you automatically go to independent living still with a social worker, it's kinda like foster care with more freedom. The only time you would most likely be out out of care is if your extremely defiant, breaking rules basically negative behaviors. The older you are the more difficult it is to find a just place now imagine someone with trauma that's 18yrs or older mad at the world and taking it out on everyone. I believe there's more to the story.

I'm not trying to ca you a liar but the whole bit about being able to go there for holidays. Isnt always right. I was in 18 "homes" and 0 of them ever contact me or reply when I try to contact them. And they never gave me any resources they made me leave the state so didnt have to help me. I was homeless for 4 years.

Blessings to you. You have immense strength. You're also right, it's kind of suspect what she is saying. I aged out too, so I do understand where you're coming from.

Why did you choose to only cater to black and brown people though? You could help so many more of you didn’t put races into it. I don’t understand that. Anyways, I am proud of you and what you have over come. You have a truly amazing testimony and ability to change peoples lives with your story.

Most kids in foster care aren't white. Black and brown people often carry additional trauma from the racism they face, and they also face higher rates of poverty. These kinds of things not only affect foster kids themselves but may be contributing factors to how they ended up in care in the first place. Every kid in foster care needs support, but kids of color have to deal with extra challenges and so need extra support. If race is a key piece of the problem, race is also a key piece of the solution

    • @sobeliever1638

Why wouldn't she? Most kids in the system are black, mixed race and hispanic. More people need to focus on them and encouraging good people from these cultures to adopt and foster. More black and brown people need to focus on the negative issues black and brown people are disproportionately affected by.
