    For those that have amplifiers with auto turn-on, all you need to do is tap one of the rear speakers for signal if it's a subwoofer amp. There would be no need to remove the radio because the amp will turn on automatically when it receives audio input. It will also shut off after a minute or so once it loses the audio signal.

    you can do this wiring in the trunk right at the speaker so you don't have to tear apart your dash

      You just crimp into the speaker wires the same way except you don't combine the right and left wires, you connect to each one. Then you take the remote wire and run it to the cigarette lighter fuse in the fuse box. Make sure to keep the wire on the protected side of the fuse though, not in the middle

      True, BUT the wires are stripped. Or mine are at least. Theres no color and I don’t know how to differentiate them without one of those pen things

    can you post a link for how to run the power wire to the amp? like where is the best point of entry on the firewall. thanks. tried clicking on the link above but it doesnt work

    I watched this video over and over again and it was very helpful. Positive wires from the LOC taps to that red right-rear positive wire of the factory HU. While the negative wires from LOC taps to the rear left thicker white wire of the factory HU. The blue wire remote from the LOC taps to the thinner gray wire of the factory HU.
    Since my amp is 150 watts, can I tap my 8 gauge red wire to the positive wire of the cigarette lighter? Don't like going thru the firewall to connect to the battery.

      @connectedcaraudio  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Dan alcantara Tha KS glad you liked the video. I would say not to tap into that circuit.. You will most likely blow a fuse very often and also heat up the factory wiring. It is to thin to be able to transfer current that fast to an amp. Run strait to the battery is the only way i would feel safe Installing an amp

      You cannot directly connect you have to use an amplifier. Your only tapping into the audio signal from the speakers. You need an aftermarket amp to power the subwoofer

    • @connectedcaraudio
      @connectedcaraudio  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dee Jay because subwoofer are mono they don't need the stereo left and right separation like vocal speakers, you can just tap into left or just the right. If I was adding amps to a 2 channel amp for vocals I would tap each speaker but for subs it is not nessasery.

    One problem with tapping just one rear speaker is the fact that I hear a lot of music with stereo bass that pans back and forth between the speakers. If you tap into just one, every time the bass pans to the other speaker, or you're playing and old Beatles song that had bass in only one speaker ( the one you didn't tap into ) you'll lose your sub bass. This sounds like crap when it's panning back and forth.

    • @chris2pher44
      @chris2pher44 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ya I have few songs that have bass on one side or the other, you’d only get it from the one side? Am I missing something?
      Think you’d have to hook up pos right to pos right, neg right to neg right, same on left to get full bass for each side? There’s a switch on my amp that would play vocal and bass or just bass so would you not have to hook it up that way so you get bass from both sides ( bass if only on say left or right)?

    • @kokobeatz7222
      @kokobeatz7222 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      bass should be in mono if the song has bass panned left and right then they mixed the song poorly
