Thanks for an excellent instructional video. It is better than all the others. It also convinced me to learn to live with my radio's non working Bluetooth. No way am I going to subject myself to that pain in the ass job....
Yeah awesome, I would never have figured that out (and was wondering how to access the MFD, and whether I was just going to have to give up on the backup camera).
Thanks for the video but I got sea sick after watching it. A tripod or a second person would help, so does slowing down and actually showing clearly (i.e. in focus) what needs to be done.
This is a very helpful video. It looks like the stock head unit removal is fairly straigth forward. But I was wondering if any of the cables you removed from the back of the radio were USB cables that could be connected directly to the back USB port of an aftermarket unit or if some sort of adaptor would be needed or if it is simple not possible to keep the stock USB/AUX inputs located in the center console?
Are you referring to the climate control connectors? They are a major pain to get off the first time you do it, it can help if you can use something to help depress the connector lock but I definitely remember it being a major pain.
Is it necessary to disconnect the negative battery terminal before doing all of this? I read that in a forum but wasn’t sure if that was necessary. Thanks!
I personally did not disconnect the battery and had no issues but if you feel safer with the battery disconnected it wouldnt hurt, just have to reset you clocks
If you have to ask, maybe you’d better disconnect... esp if you’re going to be stripping and splicing wires, and having them hang all over the place... worst that will usually happen is blowing a fuse. 12V won’t hurt YOU.
Thanks for the vid. In my Forester with the full automatic air conditioning it was easier as there was no need to go through the side to disconnect the "bowden" cables - just a plug ... unfortunatelly the radio I got from a salvage yard also turned out to be faulty, therefore another attempt next week, when I grab another one to try. th-cam.com/video/4Sy5b8bu7aA/w-d-xo.html
I think this might be the best SJ Forester stereo video on all of TH-cam. When the camera dropped it scared the daylights outta me!
Yes😂
I've been looking everywhere for this removal! Thanks a mil!

A man of few words.. Great vid
Excellent. I assume this will be very similar if not the same as the 2015 Forester. Thanks for uploading this.
Thanks. Thats just what I needed for my 2014 impreza. Its the same with the wired temp controls

I took a Dramamine (and Valium) before approaching car stereo installation.

It’s a weird pseudo USB, adapter is cheap!
I cant get the dash wire connector clips off. And suggestions?

@@Joe333x Yeah. Finally got them thanks to your help.

The auto hvac controls don’t have the cables. This is more difficult. Ty
Awesome dude!
Thanks you sooo much!
By changing the head unit to 3rd party part
Will that disable harman kardon sound system?
depends on if the system is amplfied with a seperate amp outside of the headunit.
Is it the same with a 2011?
You BEST!))
Thank you!!
Thanks you very much!
