    “INDIGO und die vierzig Räuber“ was the first of Johann II’s Operettas, and was staged on February 10, 1871 at the Theater an der Wien in Vienna, Austria. • Indigo und die 40 Räub... The Operetta lasted almost four (4) hours! The story is based on the tale "Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves" from The Book of One Thousand and One Nights. Thus, the Operetta contains some charming un-Strauss-like “exotic” melodies. 3 Potpourris were arranged by the Publisher based on Johann II’s original score prior to the premiere of the Operetta. drive.google.c... (Pages 1-19 contain the original score of 1001 Nights Waltz op.346 • Tausend und eine Nacht... ) Therefore, the Potpourris contain some songs that were discarded from the final version of the Operetta.
