You are cool Ryotaro. Next time I'm in Japan I'm going up to Akiu to eat in your restaurant. You, Chris and Natsuki are the guys who made me decide to visit Japan for the first time a few years ago. And it became my favourite country.
When I visited Japan and went into a starbucks I tried to order their special, the Goma goma goma drink. I tried to ask how much it was, definitely pronounced Ikura in the way that you said most people mistakenly do. Listening to your tip and how you're saying it, I'm wondering if its a matter of pitch accent, as well as regular accent. To my uneducated ear, it sounds like a high --> low falling down to low on ku and ra. Wish I had Dogen around here to double check me
I guess its like that, but its not quite ick lah, its i (い) ku (く) ra (ら) more like e-ku-la pronounced like e-mail, and then deska, the ka (か) at the end is like a question mark. Just like in english you raise the pitch at the end of the question. In japanese theres equal emphasis on each character so dont hang on the い in いくら(ikura) too long, i think that's what hes getting at with "ick lah". The only problem is that いくら is 3 syllables, and "ick lah" is 2
I am happy that you have been to Australia and that you had a good experience here. You worked very closely to where I live. It is a nice part of Sydney.

You have good taste, sir
Ryotaro you are an inspiration!
It's official, Ryotaro is definitely cooler than Chris.
Seriously, was there any doubt?
What a low bar to set :P
Chris rules!
That’s harsh. Snap
I thought we were all watching his videos for Ryotarou anyway? ;)
Very keen for a Ryotaro channel, can't wait to see more videos!
On your own I can hear the Japanese twang but with Chris you bring home the British accent. I recommend that you drink a pint of Ale before recording. Keep up the good work.
It was nice to get to know the man in front of the camera, Ryotaro. Thanks for sharing your life. It would explain why you're confident with English too!いいね!本当に珍しい。ビデオありがとうございます。
Ryotoro, I would like to know what the greeting is when you enter a shop and what the polite response is.
We know how Chris LOVES umeboshi! Let's all send him some!
Glad to hear you spent time in Seattle! Dicks IS the best burger place that I've had in the US. No substitutions allowed, no seating, open until 2 AM, always near bars, and only like 5 things on the menu... if you know you know
Hearing Ryotaro speak Spanish brings a Mexican tear to my eye. =')
You are cool Ryotaro. Next time I'm in Japan I'm going up to Akiu to eat in your restaurant. You, Chris and Natsuki are the guys who made me decide to visit Japan for the first time a few years ago. And it became my favourite country.
Nunca me imaginé que tú pudieras hablar español. Que interesante.
It's the Ryooo-maaan!!! Lova ya dude you always crack me up in Chris' videos
No way, I work in Hornsby at the moment. Crazy that you used to work there
It was a company called Support Solutions. Just googled it. God, it is still there!
Enjoyed your video, looking forward to being entertained during your upcoming adventures! Arigatoo!
Wish I had Dogen around here to double check me
I think its also important to emphasise "ik", rather than "ura".
I’ve always wondered for a while who Ryotaro is after seeing you in Chris’s videos. Mystery solved.
Great to share some of your youth memories with us. Funny you went to Düsseldorf for you first job of all places. The Japanese epicentre in Germany! Although we have some Japanese in Hamburg as well. I went to elementary school with a Hideki from Sapporo. Haven't heard of him for a looong time.
A good phrase to know would be: "I'm lost, where is...?"
Start with the place, for example, convenience store/konbini/コンビニ and then add wa doko desu ka / はどこですか which is how you ask where something is
@@walterwhite7325 Look mr. White, I don't want you to get mad at me and shoot me but that's the normal way to write it, not the Ryotaro way to say it. Thanks anyway.
Walter White doko* desu ka isn’t it?
@@XTingler yes こ is ko, くwould be ku, my error, nice spot
As I can tell from experience: The problematic part is not the question itself. It's understanding the answer!
Awesomme ... thanks Ryotaro san for starting this channel ...keep it going ...cheers
