    Hi! My name is Rachel. I am the creator of Sleepy Santosha. I am a certified yoga instructor who specializes in yoga for chronic illness. Although I hold two teaching certifications, the classes I teach are largely inspired by my own firsthand experiences with chronic illness and my personal yoga practice.
    Because I know what it is like to live with chronic illness, I am able to create yoga classes that intuitively support the needs of someone who is experiencing chronic pain, fatigue, brain fog, etc. and many of my classes can be practiced in bed.     As someone with chronic Lyme, dysautonomia and chronic mental illness, your videos are so perfect for these types of illnesses and I love how you aren’t trying to push people out of their illness, but be gentle with it and just be soft and understanding- which is something people with chronic illness really need and rarely get in a world that tells us to push ourselves all the time to “get better”. It’s truly healing and so amazing what you do! Thank you for your presence online! ☺️💕

    Just started doing your bed yoga for POTS a few days ago and I just finished doing this one, and I just wanna say thank you for doing these yoga practices for people with chronic illnesses!! I’m really trying to find ways to start feeling better and to be able to live life a little more, having POTS and chronic fatigue has taken so much away from me but I don’t want it to stop me forever. So far these have helped me quite a bit 😊❤️

    I would definitely see myself as Sam. He is just adventurous when he needs to be and doesn’t get himself involved in tricky situations when it isn’t necessary. He is such a generous soul and gives to those around him. I hope I could be just as good of a role model to others some day!!

    I would be Frodo. Because, like him, I have been through quite some “quests” in life which have wounded and burdened me but have also made me wiser, more understanding and more compassionate. Plus his personality is pretty similar to mine. ☺️

    I am 25 with long covid for the past 18 months and have been experiencing a crash lately. I tried this today as I was feeling really down, and feel so much better, physically and mentally now. So amazing!! I actually cannot believe it. Thank you so much! Can't wait to try more of your routines.

    as someone with chronic fatigue this was great, ive been laid in bed so far today and its 1.40pm but i managed to get myself up to do this for 12 minutes which was a great light exercise with breathing technique to help with my recovery, thankyou so much

    Sam: he is a loyal friend and enjoys being home but still is brave enough to go out to the wide world if the need arises. He doesn’t hesitate to share the things he loves (food for example) and do things that scare him to help others. He is a good role model in his courage and compassion

    Wow, I woke up feeling so exhausted, physically and emotionally, as a result of my chronic illness, but after this class I am feeling worlds better!!!!! Something about your breathing instruction made things click like never before & the intentional breaths made a huge difference in my energy!!! Thank you so so much for this wonderful class!!!!!

    oh I would definitely be a Hobbit that stayed back at the Shire. I will wait to hear the story and let the rest of them go off on their adventures while I’m cozy and well fed at home.

    I qould definitely be Frodo because he is brave and has to overcome many challenges. And I like to see my life as a hero's journey where there are challenges along the way that I have to overcome and I'm brave to face those challenge no matter how many times I fail.

    Been doing this practice for a month and finds it slowly ease my sinus pain and I feel calmer doing "ujayii" breathing
    Also great for my FMS since I was diagnosed years ago

    I would most certainly be Gimli, possibly Pippin Took as well! Both are incredibly loyal to the ones they care for the most and I feel I am just as loyal to those that I love! I enjoy being goofy and making people laugh which I feel that both Gimli and Pippin do so well. Gimli always reminds me to never take life to seriously and to hold my own when I need to while Pippin reminds me to never let anyone or anything get me down. Both Gimli and Pippin have similar qualities that I feel I relate to the most.

    I have always had a soft spot for Gollum and his mania. But, I am usually not that intense so Merry (breakfasts, friendly, lots of hair) and Gollum on rough days.

    I loved this class… and the mat 😍! I’m a huge fan of Tolkien and I’m trying to re-read the Silmarillon despite of brain fog 🤪
    I guess I would be Sam… Ready to go anywhere if needed, but deep inside I just want to live in my nice comfy hobbit hole, with family, plants and good food 😋

    I would definitely be a Hobbit, probably Sam, because I love food, nature, gardening, and enjoying the simple things in life. Like all of the Hobbits, I am sometimes reluctant to go out of my comfort zone but I love it when I do. I would be Sam because of his loyalty. He is also the real hero of the story.

    I practice your yoga every morning and watch the videos in rotation as you have several for Chronic Fatigue. I do them in bed shortly after I wake up. I'm just wondering what do you say at the end of the video it sounds "like have a nice day".

      Glad to hear you’re enjoying the classes ☺️💞 I say “Namaste” at the end of each video. It’s a Sanskrit greeting that means “the light in me honors the light in you.” It’s a deep recognition that we are all the same and connected.

    With cobra pose my stomach started to get a little fast pulse .. Intrigued to know if that is an activation alert ?

      I’m thinking this is a sign this pose is stimulating your sympathetic nervous system which would cause your heart rate to speed up. This is normal when we do backbends and not necessarily a bad thing. Over time it can help strengthen the resilience of the nervous system. But is it uncomfortable for you in any way? Do you feel lightheaded? Do you feel pressure in your head? Do you have POTS or any other kind of dysautonomia? If the answer to any of those questions is yes, then I would recommend avoiding this pose.

      @@SantoshaSpirit my head was fine, it was just a rather intense pulse in the lower stomach area. I found it interesting and feel it was helpful. thanks 🙂
