  • This is a video showing the process for installing a 1" transfer case drop, along with the calculations of double cardan rear driveshaft and pinion (rear differential angles).
With a double cardan rear driveshaft, it's necessary to get the differential (pinion) pointing directly at the driveshaft, in order to prevent driveline vibrations. In my case, a change in my rear leaf springs and shorter shackles resulted in a fairly large discrepancy between the two angles. The first portion of this job was to install 8° shims, which left the angles about 3° apart, still resulting in some vibrations at speed. The transfer case drop corrected that to within about 1°, which is nearly perfect, as the differential will "wind up" a bit under acceleration, due to the leaf spring suspension.
If this video helps you, I'd sincerely appreciate it if you could like the video and subscribe to my channel, which will make it easier to find future (and current) related videos, and will help me continue to produce them.
    Thanks!
