Me 18 years old with a hillbilly lift XJ air shocks in rear cut fenders 31/10/50 tires coil lowering clamps flipped upside down yeah that sounds within my 10 dollar budget! lmao goodbye fenders hey it kinda worked
I mean if we done all these upgrades over the course of our own xjs life id say we end up spending about the same. I know im 10 k in just because i went taller than i thought i wanted then had ti go back down. Then started finding trails i couldnt do so i had to go up once again had to buy lift and tires two times cause i had sold everything on the low when i lowered it haha. And when i went back to 4.5 i got fox suspension so that cost me a lot. I put one tons on it with dana 60. The jeep itself started as a zero rust alabama jeep that had never seen mud or salt so its literally perfectly clean underneath so it cost me 6k right off the bat back when it was kn 30s and a 2.5 inch lift. So if you get to thinking about everything you do to your rig ti make it trail worthy and not dangerous on road. Along with relocating electrical components like alternator that costs too cause while youre at it you might as well switch to a 160 amp durango alternator to supply you more power for auxillary batteries and such. Plus the durango alternator is plug and play so its so much easier ti replace when you need to.
How is installing bump stops defeating the purpose of an off-road rig? Also installing a long arm won't fix the problem. The tire will still come in contact with the fenders. Bump stops just like shocks and springs have a purpose on an off-road rig.
Pretty sure what they mean by not putting in bump stops is the the bump stops will limit the height travel of the wheel. That means it will be just a little bit more limited. By doing something else they give you options and more stuff to show us what can be done.
We just stated this in one of our videos about how many 4x4’s choose to go another route rather than taking care of their bump stops. Bump stops aren’t cool in most people’s mind so not much time is given to the topic.

I have 2 jeep cherokees one a 4.5 short arm and one with a 6.5 long arm .. both have trail badges. But the 4.5 blew the doors off the 6.5

You have to bump and strap travel. It's a must in order not to break axles and shocks, coilovers etc.
Whats the plan with that '79 F-150 dually in the background? That oughta be a cool project
Very nice. Great addition to a cool Jeep. I’ve got a 90 model 2 door that’s almost the same blue.
I'm curious as to why not remove the "rock sliders" to install the other bracket.
