I have made sausage, bean and cheese casserole with mashed potatoes on the side, but never thought of making it into a pastie. Great idea for an on-the-go meal or to pack in your take-along lunch to work. Your co-workers will be food jealous watching you crunch through that! Yum!
I make a casserole with baked beans and mashed potatoes. The bottom third is beans mixed with mashed potatoes. The upper layer is mashed potatoes with cheese on top. The surface of the casserole is golden brown. A casserole is less work than a pastie although both are tasty.

Whether it's something involved or really simple, it has this quality of being beautifully made. Simple food can be stunning and all your creations certainly are. Hi Rik, Can i take this opportunity to thank you for your reply on the custard slice recipe.You took my comment as i would have ment it, Can i just say Mr Kipplin has got a lot to worry about, doorstep custard whatever next. I would also like to say having been diagnosed with cancer in 2022, finishing work in late 2023. i thought i would never be a cook, coming from robot development technology, i found your channel which contained a lot of Chinese mixed with English cuisine. So i bought a Hysapientia oven so i could follow your recipes and found a new passion. But as an inventor i have that experimental mindset and i need to fiddle. I do find your enthusiasm to eat what you cook with lets get it in there i do find it funny, because it is what i do, then suffer with intergestion, on your sausage and beans pasty what can i say masterpiece anyone can do. @@janwong9437 Not at all. Also use it to line trays when grilling or baking vegies in the oven ... even fresh homemade chips & they brown on both sides. I wish that I had've used it MUCH SOONER to avoid unnecessary washing up.

@@BackyardChef just salt and pepper. 20% mince. I first had them in Brighton and I made them in Plymouth in a chip shop. Oh and short crust. If you use chopped tinned pots they stay firm through cooking.
Not a classic combo to Americans. Love baked beans, but can't fathom it in a sandwich. On the side, yum. I can't even get the Heinz tomato sauce beans Brits like. The husband likes his with lots of onions bacon and brown sugar!
