  • An old fashioned steamer trunk treasure chest made out of scrap pallet wood. Even the pallet nails get used.
This was a lot of fun to build. Just got to decide what to put in it now.

I’ve heard that same saying before. The version I know was on the bulletin board in the operations control room at the power plant where I used to work. It went, “we the willing, led by the unknowing, have been doing the impossible for the ungrateful, with so little for so long, we now feel that we can do anything with nothing.”

Your craftsmanship is second to none. I've got three from my great grandparents when they came to America in 1890 or so. I've thought about restoring them to display in the bedrooms at the lake house. You're giving me a motivation here.
And, it's all from pallet lumber huh? I particularly am impressed with the metal working skills.
You remind me of my father. He was an industrial arts teacher and built all kinds of things.

The only, ONLY thing I would have done differently is to use either screws or through-bolts to hold the side handles on. People will tend to pick up the loaded chest by those handles, pulling the nails right out. Through-bolts, with a wooden gusset on the inside would solve that problem. Nice build. I was on pins and needles watching you masterfully notch that thin lath to accommodate the even thinner lath strapping.
One might say your craftsmanship is a notch above the rest.

I love the way this guy films his work. I was going to click to something else, but I got hooked. And liked and subscribed. But, does anyone else see the resemblance in this guy to Stephen King? They could be brothers :O

Same, It's all about the craft... interesting how it is filmed. I thought the same thing about him looking like Stephen King... too funny

Since I was eight years old I was carving statues for pass time and gave it away because it was not popular for girls to work with wood 50 years ago My last name says oak in French and I never changed it. I love watching the reverence you have with your work. I'm very old now and can't do wood work any more and I love to watch your work over & over again. I have statues in churches.
