Never would I bother watching a video of someone crafting a mallet UNLESS it happens in this chanel. As always impressive skills and patience. A real treat to watch your videos after a long working day.
I was thinking to myself "when is he going to put 1000 brass rivets in it?" and then the video immediately shows the addition of texture behind the knots. Wonderful craftsmanship and creativity. Thank you for sharing with us, please continue to post.
🤣🤣🤣 Nice one mate.. He is something else with his talent though. Man he amazes me everytime.. He keeps raising the bar every time he turns out a new project tbf.. Brilliant at this game this guy is.. I don't know his name. He's been the most inspiring for me to date..
@EpicUpCycling Solo uno che ama quello che fa può dare risposte così! Penso che tu possa considerarti una persona molto appagata professionalmente, anche se il tuo dovesse essere solo un hobby (cosa cui non credo)!
Absolutely gorgeous my good Sir. This is true craftsmanship. I love that you render the Celtic knot beautifully with the interlacing exactly right. This is a work of art and a pleasure to watch, thank you.
I read that you've been doing this for 30+ years, it certainly shows in the quality of your craftsmanship.. you do magnificent work, you're very talented. I also like how you improvise during a project, I do that myself.. using the clamp and ruler to create an ark made me smile.😊 I see that you're a bit of a poet as well. "A Mallet Out Of Pallet".. clever man. lol
Something about how you work that just is so calming. I usually watch videos muted, but the scraping, sawing, and hammering noises soothe me. The hammer turned out lovely. Thank you.
I'm loving your channel. I like to accompany artisans who show their work without the need for words, just showing what you can do with simple things like pallets and scraps of wood. Thanks for posting.
Well, I've been all through the videos on your site, absolutely addicted to them. My dad was a joiner, served his time at Vickers Armstong (as it was then) at Barrow-in-Furness, Lancashire (as it was then) He would have spent hour after hour of pure enjoyment watching them over and over as I do. I'm originally from Cumberland, yes also as it was then. Now been living in Canada for nearly 50 years. Looking forward to the next video anxiously. Take care and all the best.
amazing, Jason you are certainly gifted. everything you produce demonstrates skills, love, and care. three things we rarely see now many thanks for sharing Barry
Sorry I have to say this. All the tools you have at your workshop. There is only two I would want from you to bring here and let me use are your steady hands. Lovely Thor's hammer. Thanks for all the fine woodwork. All the best Neil.
That is just the prettiest mullet I have ever seen. I think if somebody would hit me with it I forgive him/her. 😄 I think no way I would use it only for display.
Yup, you've inspired me. Not sure about an oak pallet but I know I have an oak 4x4 outside waiting for me to do something with. Absolutely beautiful mallet ❣❣❣
Neat trick with the rule & clamp! Gonna pinch that one! You need a slitting gauge to do those border cuts, much easier and more accurate than using the knife.
Man I wanna be like Mike! I mean that is the best mallet I have ever seen. You sir are true artist! This is the kind of work that they used to do in the late 1800's. Thanks for doing the video's I love watching them all. I have done a lot of stuff with pallet wood but you sir make me look like an armature! Keep them coming please!
I was thinking that a nice dark hardwood inlay on the striking surfaces would look nice and would also help by evening the force of each blow across the whole face of the mallet. So that there is no risk of it splitting off one of the side pieces or getting something jammed into the seam and causing damage to this beautiful piece of work. I know it is not used with a heavy amount of force, but it was just a thought that I had while watching it be made.
A nice idea. I've been very surprised how well this mallet has held up. I was unsure how long the oak pallet would last. It's had a lot of heavy use over the last year but still as good as new :)
Kind sir ... You did not build a mallet; you created a work of art!!!!! Spectacular!!! Absolutely magnificent!!! Again, please keep the videos coming!!! Me and mine wish you and yours all things great and good!!! Take care, be safe, all my best and God bless!!! Chuck Knight from Buffalo, Texas, USA. PS: Could we have your first name, please? Again, God bless!!! Chuck. 🤠🐩🖖✝️🐩
I'm not at the end of the video yet. You're just starting to skech out the design on the handle. But I'm excited to see if you burn the wood to seal it and make the carvings pop. So cool. You should teach a class. You'd make nice money doing it too. Videos are a great source of ideas to try but hands on with explanations on why or why not, priceless.
Nothong wrong with a pallet mallet. Pallets are usually made of hard wood, so it is a good choice of woods for such a project. Love the relief carving and that you champhered the edges to reduce the chances of the mallet edges chipping off.
Wow. That could certainly be used as a commemorative judge’s gavel. Absolutely gorgeous, and light stain, all the better to admire your meticulous carving and design.
Every video you have I see something amazing I never would have thought of on my own. The dimpling effect with the punch is definitely something I will try. Thanks for sharing your craft!
Totally loved this one. Started on my own mallet yesterday including the carving and everything. Thank you for making it look “easy”. Using an old bookshelf, because UpCycling is a major part of it :-)
it's amazing sir. hi from Türkiye
Thanks :) 🖐

Thanks very much :)
I'm guessing the "thumbs down" blokes are the ones no good at using their hands to make stuff.
Impressive mallet. Nice job, mate.
Thanks very much :)
Possibly the ones who smashed their thumbs.
Can you do a video on how you sharpen all your tools, especially the ones you do such precision carving in hardwood like oak.
a man that can make his own tools is truly a master crafter. :)
Why can't tools be art? Cheers mate.🧙♂
You have a great talent my friend ,fantastic mallet 😊
Thanks 🙂
Thanks for the inspiration to get my ass up and do something today. PTSD can be a ball and chain to us old vets.
I hear ya brother. I know that feeling all too well myself. Bad day today, helps to know I'm not alone.
@@mkbman45 Same here, my friend. Welcome home and be safe.
I know that feeling - Sometimes you just need to try and get something done, even if it's not anything major.
Hitting things with hammers always helps doesn't it?
Hear! ! ! ! Hear ! ! ! ! !
So he,s going to make a mallet, won't be any old mallet.still surprised me.Lovely to see every day things, made beautiful.
Thanks Sylvia :)

Thanks Freakazoid. I might make another one with rivets in it :)

Maybe Thor could borrow it some time 👌👍. Good edition to your tools. Keep the good work going.
*almost like Mjølne...there is power* 💪😉
The mallet of All mallets!!!
Wow! Loved your technique for using a clamp and a rule to get an arc you can trace a curve from! I just puth that idea in my bag of tricks. Thanks!

You used a tool to make a tool that does the same thing as the tool you used to make it. Love it! Thanks.
I've seen many mallets made and it always tempts me to have a go. Maybe do at some point. Great video as always Jason.
Thanks Ian. It's always nice using a tool you've made yourself. I definitely recommend having a go.
