Remember, the Demon Gauntlet is not unlocked until you free the monster. So really you're not that "thrown into the hard stuff" as you said, because you will have to skip this gauntlet at first anyways.
I really appreciate you calling out Rafer's user coin gimmick. I was playing In Silico recently, and I just kept thinking the entire time I was playing that there was no way anybody would be able to find these coins on their own, and it blew me away how many people didn't care simply because it looked cool. Really solid video btw, I don't agree with everything but I did enjoy watching the whole way through. Hope you'll rank all the newer gauntlets when they come out!
This is gonna be a massive hot take, but I think bad levels are necessary and must be endorsed by Rob in these gauntlets. In the time you're gonna be playing the game, you're not gonna see all rosy and good levels in the custom levels section, and so these bad levels help train and prepare you for them.
The reason why I love Slam by Rafer is because the entire level is flukable if you're remotely good at the game 😂 so it becomes free, I actually don't care about the coins at all but it's fair to say they suck because they're too complex to get
I definitely agree with most of the opinions presented in the video, to be completely honest the only thing that I disagree with you on is the fact that I would prefer for Buried Angel to be shifted around with Extinction. Not only do I think that Buried Angel is easier than Extinction to start the gauntlet but I also feel like the slow gameplay of Buried Angel would be better suited for the start as having a bit of a faster paced gameplay on the second level with Extinction would make a nice segway into Shrill Hallway. Always thought that it was weird to make such a radical exception with the Demon Gauntlet in terms of reducing level count to 4.
It's interesting seeing someone else's opinions. When we got to the Galaxy and Univers Guantlets, my thoughts on them couldn't be more different. I didn't like Fizzy Fossils very much, Koenigstein is genuinely one of the best easy demons ever made, Ruta Del Sols gameplay is legitimately peak, Asadal was extremely memorable for me and Bismarck was just okay. Not hating on your opinions cause everyone is different, but it's honestly really interesting that we are polar opposites when it comes to those two guantlets.
10:59, No, this song does infact make sense, temple (Zelda 2) is a song that is usually paired with dark link being the final boss of that game. A "Shadow" of link who has his entire moveset. Don't know why the theme doesn't reflect that though
I really like fire aura despite its horrible balancing due to how it goes from 0 to 100 immediately just like the song. Also everything after the 3x speed wave feels so much more intense despite being a lot easier other than that choke mini ship. I’m just the only person to ever exist who doesn’t mind a random difficulty spike halfway through just because.
In my opinion the early gauntlets are all extremely mid 2.0 levels, the middle stage gauntlets are slightly weird 2.1 levels and the 2.2 gauntlets are pretty good But that's just a theory
glad the behemoth got some love, i love that level. one of the reasons it makes me like it so much is that it has a readable bossfight. the boss is on the left of the screen, which makes it WAY easier to read the level since it isnt covering like half of the screen
35:50 Demon Gauntlet gives those vibes of "The place where you fight the final boss" while the Doom Gauntlet gives those vibes of "The True Final Boss with the True Ending" Doom Gauntlet has two Hard Demon level (14-4 Nowise and 14-5 Darkness Keeper) making it harder than the Demon Gauntlet
Why am I always surprised that I disagree with videos that give opinions of all things. Anyway, I respect your opinion and can mostly see where you're going from, but I will not let the Ruta Del Sol slander pass >:(
I completely agree with you on Fire Aura being a Demon, but it’s not the hardest seven star I know. Butiti is almost Medium Demon difficulty and it's rated seven stars for some reason. I also completely agree with you on Dark Drop, super fun level. HeLL is one of my favorite levels that I hated playing. The theming is on point and some of the best 2.0 has to offer, but the first 40% is pain, and very annoying when you aren't very good at the game. However, the rest is great. I'm going to be completely honest, Nowise and Darkness Keeper shouldn't Hard Demons, they are mid tier Medium Demon at best. Levels like Resurrection by Hinds and Lava Temple by GGBoy and Michigun are way harder than both Nowise and Darkness Keeper and should definitely be Medium Demon. The Universe Gauntlet is really funny to me because all of the levels are very unsightreadable, but all for completely different reasons. Ruta Del Sol, is more of your classic Demon that has some awkward transitions. I don’t even know how to describe Bismark's gameplay. Lutetia has what I could probably call "speedcore-ish" gameplay but for a level that isn't Insane Demon or harder. Pabrik is basically a memory level, love to see it. Then Asadal is your flow gameplay. I honestly really liked all of these levels, but I just thought it was interesting how non of them were sightreadable, I mean most of the World Gauntlet Demons were like that anyway.
No way Lava Temple is harder than Nowise. Lava Temple is very inconsistent in terms of difficulty. While Nowise steadily rise difficulty, from easy cube section to hard ball-spider section in end. Auto parts ruin atmosphere a bit though. (I respect your opinion and share mine)
I love Fire Aura to be honest. I used to hate it because I wasn’t good enough to beat it, but now I love it because of the thrill and how exhilarating it was to beat the first time
I’ve only played like a third of the new gauntlet levels, but I loved Ruta Del Sol. The decoration is beautiful, the theme is amazing, and the song is my second favourite gauntlet song so far. I can only think of a couple places that, to me, had slightly sub par gameplay.
I'm definitely an alien or something because I've never really struggled with Fire Aura, although it probably should be an 8 or 9 star. Also I enjoy most Chase gameplay somehow
37:30 honestly I disagree, I found Darkness Keeper to be harder than Nowise. Maybe it’s just because I beat it on 60hz mobile, or because I’m bad at boss fights. Either way darkness keeper was a little bit harder for me.
I actually disliked scarlet surge for a reason i haven't seen anyone talk about. I hated the 90% cube duel cause you can undershoot or overshoot an orb. I still like the level a lot and idk why people think it's the worst level, boring isn't the worst a level can do
I'm sorry, I'm 2/3 of the way through the video right now and there have been SO MANY bad takes here. Just atrocious. Also Rafer's name is pronounced Ray-fur. Ice gauntlet S tier is an abomination. Poison gauntlet E tier is downright disrespectful. Lava gauntlet F tier is so bad, especiallt when Magic and Crystal gauntlets exist, and HOW are you knocking Shadow Gauntlet down to B tier when you said it was "almost perfect"?!?! Look, im not trying to flame you here, but holy it just seems like you're only trying to have controversial takes, throwing in a few good takes here and there to pretend like youre not trolling.
As someone who usually only plays demons, most of the non demon packs didnt really stick out much (i will give the new packs and slam some credit because those were pretty good) The new demon gauntlets were pretty good overall too, but getting all the coins was a bit of a chore, especially with bismarck
I can promise you Extinction is more difficult than Buried Angel, reason being that Extinction is just consistently very difficult whereas Buried Angel is difficult in some places. Also, Buried Angel is like 30% transition.
calling Extinction a “great introduction to easy demons for new players” is pretty ridiculous… i mean, if the new player we’re talking about here is absolutely godlike at the game, then sure its a good introduction. but this level is at the very top of easy demon difficulty, and harder than some medium demons ive beaten.
With the exception of the ice gauntlet, every gauntlet has at least one level I love and one level I absolutely despise (e.g. in the demon gauntlet, I really like Sidestep, but I really DON'T like Vibration)
I've beaten half of the gauntlets after 3 months of on and off grinding. Here's my tier list. A:Discord Gauntlet B:Time Gauntlet C:Shadow,Poison,Ice,Fire, and Chaos Gauntlets D:Bonus and Lava Gauntlets F-:Spike Gauntlet Mostly C and D tier levels I've beaten sadly.
I go into the comments of Fizzy Fossils and literally all I see are comments saying it's terrible and I have zero clue why. I must regretfully inform you all that that level is good. My sincerest condolences.
I went into this video for specifically scarlet surge. I was so happy to see you didnt shit on it, since it has such great theming! I loved it so much I made my own level based on it. I also like the sequel sapphire surge. Both of these levels have amazing songs and great theming!
wow i have been working on a gauntlets tier list video too hahaha! it also doubles as a retrospection since i was pretty bad at the game when the og gauntlets dropped (i had a similar experience with fire aura but the level has grown on me since then) im glad i got this recommended to me since i like hearing what others think on these gauntlets. its good to see more people that dont like acid factory or the galaxy/universe gauntlets
Great vid! Regarding the monster gauntlet, I'm not a huge fan of mechanism because I find the boss boring and the deco underwhelming. DanZmen said it best in his comment, talking about how haoN doesn't use the pulse triggers. What angers me the most is that it stole the placement of "The Massive" by 1374, which not only has better gameplay but one of the best bossfights I ever played. If you think the saw blade animations were impressive, see the ones in this level. It goes above and beyond and really urks me that it isn't in the gauntlet
I agree with most of your takes here. My favorite gauntlet is also chaos because I love scarlet surge and how other levels are also fun and follow the theme quite well. I love the doom and demon gauntlet because made me a lot better at the game. Before my hardests are only easy demon, but after those gauntlets I can beat hard demons like dance massacre and the badland by taman. However, some of my opinions are different, like how koenigstein is actually my fav level ever and Chase is actually a really good at creatinf gameplay. Still, this is a great video because I actually watched the entire thing. I always enjoy tier list videos, they are just extremely fun to watch for me.
my opinion is probably wrong, but imo shrill hallway is one of the most fun demons in the gauntlets idk i just found myself really loving everything except for the ship which wasnt even too bad, the balancing is a bit weird but i still thought the gameplay was great
17:32 I hate scarlet surge and the chaos gauntlet because of the flashing lights, the one mandatory gauntlet is also the one to make me want to rip my eyes out.
Honestly the sad part is that I actually enjoyed Crystal Essence more than the rest of the Crystal Gauntlet. Technically Lustre I consider better, but on an enjoyment level, Crystal Essence is the most enjoyable level, because I can actually SEE WHERE I'M GOING. Yeah... And I used to hate Empyrean, but it grew on me because it's honestly much better compared to the rest of the gauntlet, more or less being a victim of how the contest was like. Honestly if there was two separate gauntlets instead of two levels, one for unknown creators and one for famous ones, I'd be fine with that. Also I firmly stand by the fact that Sidestep is the best level of the Demon Gauntlet and HellGate Menace is one of my favorite gauntlet levels. ChaSe's levels are enjoyable and he's honestly overhated as a creator. I actually would like to see him make more levels in the gauntlets despite the backlash, like how the Generation Retro creator is making a sequel despite the hate the level got.
Fully agree with you on Hellgace Menace. I believe this is, to date, the only level I have ever made a copyable for anything easier than an easy demon to practice.
I don’t understand how everyone loves the chaos gauntlet. I hate it. First up, we have a buggy 5 star with bad transitions and it’s almost all luck based for me. Second, we have a long level, it’s very repetitive with color scheme and gameplay, and I don’t blame them. Only 4 color channels in 1.9, but people make stuff like revolution by funny game or Lightwave by splenetic. Third, we have the surprisingly easiest level of the gauntlet. It’s still very mid, but I never thought I’d be happy to see a mid Danolex level in a gauntlet. Fourth, we have an annoying level. I never liked it for its horrible ball section, the dual ship was never hard. Fifth, I hate this level. I don’t understand why everyone loves that level. You have a boring repetitive start, and then you jump into a sudden 3x section. It’s physically draining to play that level, for the spammy and annoying to learn parts. Idk what you are smoking to enjoy this level.
Personally, I think HellGate Menace is one of the best levels in the 2.1 gauntlets. I admit it feels misrated, but I had a pretty good experience with it. You just have to go through it in practice mode to learn how all of the different attacks are telegraphed and what you can do to avoid them. In fact, I'd even say it's the second best level in the Monster Gauntlet - behind SLAM, but ahead of Monster Mischief (which I agree is a really good level as well). I'd even go so far as to say I like ChaSe's gameplay style - all you need to do is know where to buffer. Crystal Essence does have that one annoying part with the dual wave or whatever it was, but other than that, I've enjoyed all the ChaSe levels I've beaten. Even his part in Empyrean is basically just clicksync.
YES, finally someone actually brings out the point of having 2 levels IN A ROW with the same song, which don't correlate in any other way Also seeing Scarlet Surge and ESPECIALLY The Behemoth getting praise warms my heart I would say tho, I believe if you generally a buffer person (I casually tend to buffer every orb), levels by chase or with chase parts didn't feel bad to play (except HellGate Menace: despite it looking epic, the boss gameplay is confusing and requires a lot of practice) and I actually enjoyed SideStep
Oh and how fire aura took him 1600 attempts, and he proceeds to say its an easy demon. Like yeh its decently hard but 8 star at most. All this guy does is whine about shit because he sucks ass
I have a soft spot for the map packs. I'm a 1.9 player that only recently picked up the game again, and I find modern gameplay to be very unreadable and irritating as a result. Map pack levels may look like shit, may be full of blind jumps and obnoxious flashing lights... but they're what I know the game for. Gauntlets are great too, but I still haven't gotten around to beating them lol.
Similarly to another comment, I have a job interview early morning... It's about 2:00 AM and I'm not going to bed until I finish this video. I really hope this gets increased views! Good video, keep up the hard work.
Actually, I was agreeing with everything in this video up until you said that Traction is a good level. Literally, it's the worst level in the whole gauntlet! The only thing good about it is the song. The gameplay is not hard, but annoying, with blind orbs, tragic transitions and janky af parts. It's the only level out of the entire gauntlet that I hacked and it's not a skill issue. I genuinely felt annoyed playing that level. Mechanical Showdown was much harder but I beat it just fine (and was actually kinda sad when I beat it as it was so fun). Traction's deco just screams low effort. About Vibration, I'd say that it's not that bad. Yes, it is extremely forgettable but it's honestly fine. At least, the gameplay is not annoying 🙄. Still a pretty good video though👍👍
17:30 I agree. I love scarlet surge, and I don’t understand the hate. Even though I don’t agree with some of your opinions, it’s neat to see you explain why you do/don’t like a level, instead of just saying you do.

Thats like saying I should eat rotten food to prepare myself for when I actually get food poisoning?? What??
@@enderluckjarmg985but this time, bad levels only waste your time and are EVERYWHERE
i actually love slam, without the coins it genuinely plays so well
it all flows together so perfectly
i never thought the coins could drag it down
The reason why I love Slam by Rafer is because the entire level is flukable if you're remotely good at the game 😂 so it becomes free, I actually don't care about the coins at all but it's fair to say they suck because they're too complex to get
Literally, most forgiving gameplay possible
"The levels themselves could be good, just not good in the context of a Gauntlet"
This is basically the entire Portal Gauntlet.
I really like fire aura despite its horrible balancing due to how it goes from 0 to 100 immediately just like the song. Also everything after the 3x speed wave feels so much more intense despite being a lot easier other than that choke mini ship. I’m just the only person to ever exist who doesn’t mind a random difficulty spike halfway through just because.
babe wake up new nothingisscary upload
12:08 Bro called Viking Arena a Subzero level
In my opinion the early gauntlets are all extremely mid 2.0 levels, the middle stage gauntlets are slightly weird 2.1 levels and the 2.2 gauntlets are pretty good
But that's just a theory
What the FUCK are those numbers man you deserve WAY more attention
glad the behemoth got some love, i love that level. one of the reasons it makes me like it so much is that it has a readable bossfight. the boss is on the left of the screen, which makes it WAY easier to read the level since it isnt covering like half of the screen
35:50 Demon Gauntlet gives those vibes of "The place where you fight the final boss" while the Doom Gauntlet gives those vibes of "The True Final Boss with the True Ending"
Doom Gauntlet has two Hard Demon level (14-4 Nowise and 14-5 Darkness Keeper) making it harder than the Demon Gauntlet
New sub here, really liking your content so far I love these typa critique videos where you don’t hold back , nicely done
I think I know ehy kappaclysm is in the chaos gauntlet, it's there because it was the level that replaced "Blade" from what I heard.
I can only think of a couple places that, to me, had slightly sub par gameplay.
universe gauntlet --> best one imo
I love the split gauntlet too
I'm definitely an alien or something because I've never really struggled with Fire Aura, although it probably should be an 8 or 9 star.
Also I enjoy most Chase gameplay somehow
I have never seen Slam’s coin route before, that’s crazy. I still think Slam is one of the best levels in any of the gauntlets
37:30 honestly I disagree, I found Darkness Keeper to be harder than Nowise. Maybe it’s just because I beat it on 60hz mobile, or because I’m bad at boss fights. Either way darkness keeper was a little bit harder for me.
Finally someone who also appreciates The Behemoth
23:08 for the record this is not just a you thing, the hitboxes are pretty janky here
First of all gameplay of Rafer's level's is amazing
the only thing I can agree on is Fire aura difficulty take, anything else is mostly "Uuuuugh, I don't like the level/creator"
As someone who usually only plays demons, most of the non demon packs didnt really stick out much (i will give the new packs and slam some credit because those were pretty good)
The new demon gauntlets were pretty good overall too, but getting all the coins was a bit of a chore, especially with bismarck
A:Discord Gauntlet
B:Time Gauntlet
C:Shadow,Poison,Ice,Fire,and Chaos Gauntlets
D:Bonus and Lava Gauntlets
F-:Spike Gauntlet
Mostly C and D tier levels I've beaten sadly.
scarlet surge and sidestep should switch opinions
the beginning of wild card looks like a mobile game ad
you are extremely underrated. Ive been watching you since 4.5 k or 2 ish years. you should have atleast 50k (big for gd)
I go into the comments of Fizzy Fossils and literally all I see are comments saying it's terrible and I have zero clue why. I must regretfully inform you all that that level is good. My sincerest condolences.
It’s harder than it looks so people rage, if they would actually practice it they would enjoy it
Amazing work man, u deserve more recognition
2022 was such a good time to play gd, the world gauntlet contest was so hype
i agree with the statement about fire aura. that level was my roadblock to completing the lava gauntlet.
Cool gauntlets tier list video!
I always enjoy tier list videos, they are just extremely fun to watch for me.
my opinion is probably wrong, but imo shrill hallway is one of the most fun demons in the gauntlets
idk i just found myself really loving everything except for the ship which wasnt even too bad, the balancing is a bit weird but i still thought the gameplay was great
Opinions can’t be wrong, I agree with you it was very fun to complete
I agreed with every opinion you had lmao. This video is amazing and had me entertained for almost an hour, awesome video bro!
I disagree with like basically every point you brought up, but I appreciate the work you put into this! Cohesive, and interesting.
17:32 I hate scarlet surge and the chaos gauntlet because of the flashing lights, the one mandatory gauntlet is also the one to make me want to rip my eyes out.
12:10 i loved viking arena, had to be the best Subzero level.
Yea is a meltdown level I misspoke
Him saying alkali is underrated when he is at 14 on the creator leader boards 😅
YES, finally someone actually brings out the point of having 2 levels IN A ROW with the same song, which don't correlate in any other way
Also seeing Scarlet Surge and ESPECIALLY The Behemoth getting praise warms my heart
I would say tho, I believe if you generally a buffer person (I casually tend to buffer every orb), levels by chase or with chase parts didn't feel bad to play (except HellGate Menace: despite it looking epic, the boss gameplay is confusing and requires a lot of practice) and I actually enjoyed SideStep
Planet X is by far one of my favorite levels in the game. While the gameplay is a tiny bit boring, it is very unique and I love the style.
The entire SLAM part is [EXTREMELY LOUD INCORRECT BUZZER]
But points for having the bravery to critisize one of the most beloved levels and I don't have the coins so
Please, I genuinely want to know why you refuse to mention Vibration. I remember actually really enjoying it when I first beat it.
If you don't like Rafer's coins, there's a very easy workaround called: Don't get them lol
What drives me nuts is robtop put one of those dumb trigger orbs in dash and I actually die there fairly often
38:54 ☠️
Overall I did enjoy the video! Good job :)
i really don't like this video. too negative and too whiny.
Oh and how fire aura took him 1600 attempts, and he proceeds to say its an easy demon. Like yeh its decently hard but 8 star at most. All this guy does is whine about shit because he sucks ass
@@SertQuos and you're whining about his opinion 😂
I have a soft spot for the map packs. I'm a 1.9 player that only recently picked up the game again, and I find modern gameplay to be very unreadable and irritating as a result. Map pack levels may look like shit, may be full of blind jumps and obnoxious flashing lights... but they're what I know the game for.
Gauntlets are great too, but I still haven't gotten around to beating them lol.
Finished the demon gauntlet recently and was surprised there were only 4 levels. (Vibration is a horrible level where the constant spam hurt my hands)
Similarly to another comment, I have a job interview early morning... It's about 2:00 AM and I'm not going to bed until I finish this video. I really hope this gets increased views! Good video, keep up the hard work.
Amazing video but man my opinions and your opinions won't ever be compatible lmao
I don’t know why you don’t have more views on this. This is a great video
fire aura was one of my first videos and the only completion video that isn't demon because it should be demon (also kappaclysm was kinda hard)
"none of the levels have a fire theme" *proceeds to show a fire themed level*
I'm pretty sure @DubstepJoltik did this idea first but still good video
Magmatic sanctuary belongs in the lava gauntlet.
I can agree with that
Actually, I was agreeing with everything in this video up until you said that Traction is a good level.
I think the newer gauntlet levels are slightly too design complicated and map packy
17:30 I agree. I love scarlet surge, and I don’t understand the hate.
Even though I don’t agree with some of your opinions, it’s neat to see you explain why you do/don’t like a level, instead of just saying you do.
Are you ever going to review the 2.2 gauntlets?
