    It looks like some of the old photos were pre-revolutionary.
    The special scissors are not to extinguish the candle flame, they are to trim the wick.

    • @bluesky-pb9di
      @bluesky-pb9di 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Probably both. It's kind of enclosed. To snuff the flame and trim at same time.

    • @funstuff2006
      @funstuff2006 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@bluesky-pb9di No, those scissors were created at a time when candle wick didn't incinerate itself efficiently like ours do today. The box is to catch the wick you are trimming off, not to snuff out the candle.

      I hope you read this Valeria, in a place such as this; what would be something you would love to buy if you had lots of $$$ ?? I noticed you looked at things you were just curios about or simple knick-nacks. Do you like jewelry? Jewelry boxes? Do you even wear Jewelry? Or are you just interested in useful objects and art supplies ( or garden supplies)? Seriously, I am very interested in your likes!

    I inherited a Japanese Noritake dinner service. I thought nothing of it until I broke a plate and tried to replace it. Now I understand why that stack of 6 plates was $500!

    It's more an antiques market than a flea market really. Lots of beautiful stuff and honestly, not too expensive. The prices are fairly decent for the items.

    Absolutely fascinating, 🙏🏿 I have always loved the Russian Blue tea sets. Did you notice the photo of the little boy as you browsed through the black and white pictures. He was about 4 years old with a little Afro, perhaps a heritage of African and Russian 😊😇💝.

    I bought a complete Limoges dinner service for 10 at a U.S. garage sale for $40.00. With today's lifestyles, many young people no longer want to pay $150.00 for one plate.

    Here in Toronto (Canada) we have a flea market for rich people -- or rather, uninformed rich people, as most prices are quite inflated. I'd rather go to church rummage (or jumble) sales, which one can find collectibles at very reasonable prices. If you ever visit Toronto, you'll find that stacks of plates go for a song at such sales. It was fascinating to see the market -- thank you!

      With all due respect, there is good junk versus bad junk. And I know many rich folks who shop at these places here in Florida. But, generally they do ‘pay up’ for the same junk online or at these Moscow type socials sales events. I would go to anywhere and anytime to look for what we “affectionately” call junk. Hence, one mans trash is another’s treasure. And thus they turn someone else’s trash into cash 💷 💵 and I’m glad to buy it world 🌎 wide, at the right prices

    Such antique markets in Russia are very expensive, and not so many items are actually made in Russia, most are Western-made. Costume jewelry is all western. Some items shown are made in China in the 50-s (enamelled vases, jewelry boxes as shown). I spotted some Russian-made pre-revolution silver teaspoons, but they are always too pricey. Such markets are cheaper in UK and Germany, probably even more so in in U.S.

    Yikes, that is an expensive flea market! A lot of interesting things there indeed but, wow, $8 for a picture! That is crazy.
    A lot of rich people there I guess. Valeria, I wonder, are all the items authentically Russian? I ask because I would like to get some Russian items someday and have run into stuff that said it is Russian but is really Chinese or something and not authentic. My other Russian friends tell me to be careful when looking for Russian items of any type because there are a lot of fakes out there and I heed their words as I would have trouble telling fake from real Russian products.

    • @bluesky-pb9di

      Who could afford to buy those expensive items when new. The Russians were mostly blue collar workers. Those items would be unnecessary luxury items. Not talking about the cheap items.
