Great video Jack. Apologies if it's already been pointed out, but a fast way to inherit the accurate coordinates for the spherical field onto your geometry sphere, is simply to nest it under the SF and zero out the xyz coordinates.
Haven't tried it, but Octane has a similar function for ignoring lights - for the emissive material I believe dirt would be your best best. Let me know how it goes!
