Just installed these today. I have to trim the fender liner more as it’s pretty tight against the top of the bump stop and makes a horrendous noise as the body and frame flex independently. I also added 3/4” spring spacers to the front as my 3.5” rockkrawler springs are sagging. I set the initial length at 8” because I was bottoming out bad enough to hit the fender liners with a 3” bump stop extension. Will hopefully trim the liners and flex the front end to see if any more adjustments are needed tomorrow. Keep up the awesome videos!
You missed one crucial thing during install...you set the new bump to its fully compressed length based on the measurement of an uncompressed polyurethane bump. Those poly bumps will stuff pretty much all the way into the tube they're in. Basically, you lost about an inch or more of wheel travel that you otherwise had with the poly bumps. Looks like you were pretty much maxed out on adjustment, so cutting another inch or so off the mounting tube will get you back to the original travel. At least the way you have it in the video won't damage the shocks, so there's a silver lining at least.
JK Gear and Gadgets I've been itching to wheel Gulches ever since Ultimate Adventure went through there in '13. You just might get to see my rig up close If you make it out to the Rausch Creek event that Eric is planning in April...just noticed you on the invite on FB!
Great video can't wait to see how they perform. I need to fix my front bump stops one is just floating around in the front I just don't want to do it in the cold lol
Sulz obviously price is a huge factor. The kings will perform better and probably last longer. But at some point you have to look at Jeep mods in a realistic way, how often do you jump or bottom out your Jeep? If you Offroad as a hobby every once in a while then the dv8 will more than suit your needs. If you want to race and wheel hardcore then go with the Kings. In my opinion their are a lot of places on the Jeep where you could use the money saved by going with the DV8. To be short, if you have the money to blow then go with kings, if you want a set of hydraulic bump stops and have some fun on the trails and save some cash go with these.
Totally curious do you happen to know what size hole it is that you drop these in?? I’m using them for a different application but want to start brainstorming mount ideas while I’m waiting on delivery, thanks in advance seriously man been following for awhile now always great info you’ve taught me a lot
Really informative video - Plan on either installing these or the KING Bump stops in the next few weeks ( already have the King Res Shocks) - Did you have to Nitrogen Fill ? If so what pressure did you go with ? I read where they say to fill with 200 psi then decrease from there as needed ( this goes for the Kings as they come with no Nitrogen) - any input would be great as info for JK installed Hydraulic Bump stops for the JK is not easily found.
These are maintainence free as well. To an extent, I’f your jumping it offroad daily then they will need maintaining. But for the average offroader these will last years
JK Gear and Gadgets hopefully they last long years before needing recharge like you say. Looking forward to your another review in a future after you get to use them as they are intended. Keep up the good work.
Hey buddy can you help me I have a 2004 Jeep Wrangler TJ I put a 3.25 Rough Country lift on my Jeep the front coil springs are bowing towards the front of the vehicle but I did put the 1 + 7.5 spacer back and when I installed the lift could that be the reason for the bow please help me out thank you love your guys videos
Im sorry I mean all 8 and after I put them on do I take it for a alignment and they will ajust them in the correct way or do I need to know how to set them
Hey, new to the Jeep community... I had a question about bumpstops So I just purchased my new 2019 rubicon jl....I noticed today that both front bumpstops have like a dark residue on them. Any idea what that is? I can wipe it off with my finger, but just curious what that could be. I did have the Jeep rust proof’d could that be over spray? I’m just throwing it out there. Sorry if this is a dumb question. Nice vid Any response would be appreciated, thanks
I’ve never tried that, however you could probably add some nitrogen to make them stiff. However I would be careful because you don’t want to blow the seals
@@JKGearandGadgets yes. Swaybar links and all. I tried prying on the coil as well. Only thing I didn't do was twist the coil to unseat it. I'm going to try again this Sunday. I'm not seeing any coil keepers on it so I'm not sure why it's stretching the whole droop of the axle fall. It's a Rough Country coil I believe. 4in lift.
It’s a mix of components, but Metalcloak 4.5” springs, bilstein shocks, JKS trackbars, assorted control arms etc. I would reccomend rockkrawler or metalcloak complete lifts
What specific driveline are you talking about? Driveshafts are still stock, been waiting to finish the one ton swap first since they require custom shafts
@@JKGearandGadgets hmm i have a jlr with 2 inch lift im thinking about trying these out looks like right now i have 4inchs of travel from my axle strike pad and current bump stop.
@@JKGearandGadgets You measured the urethane stop uncompressed and the hydrostop compressed. So either your urethane stops were not set correctly, and as they compressed, your shocks would have bottomed out, or you set the hydrostop too short because you measured the uncompressed urethane stops.

These poly bumps I had on before were very stiff, and didn’t compress at all. The factory yellow bumps do, I should have mentioned that.
Thanks for the vid! I’m new to this Jeep build stuff never thought of getting bump stops but I will now, thanks.
Thanks for the comment! This reminds me I need to make a video of them in action and really show how they help
Looking forward to hearing review. Living vicariously through you til I get mine installed!
Hoping to go wheeling at gulches next weekend and get some footage and see how they do. Can’t wait to see all the new parts on your build!

I’m about to pull The trigger on them. I can’t wait to see your review on them
Only been on one offroad trip with them so far, but I will say I’m very impressed. Hope to make a full review and action video of them soon
Great video can't wait to see how they perform. I need to fix my front bump stops one is just floating around in the front I just don't want to do it in the cold lol
Haha I hear ya on the cold, probably a lot worse up where you live too. If it’s below 35 I refuse to work on the jeep
Nice!!!!!! Cant wait to see them in action...
They did amazing this weekend up at windrock Park. Didn’t get any footage sadly; it was raining hard all day
RIP that shock
great video, cant wait for the review,,,
Awesome vid man. Please make a video with the review you promised. Cheers.
Sadly haven’t gotten around to getting good footage of them in action. But I would still recommend them to this day! They are sweet
@@JKGearandGadgets Sweet! How do these DV8 compare to KING and Fox? Which one would you recommend?

Very similar to a shock, as long as the seal doesn’t get damaged then no need to recharge

I’m running a 2dr jk. Do you think it would be ok to just run these in the front for now? I was thinking most of weight is in front on 2dr jk…
Good lifting the jeep

With that much lift you will need adjustable control arms to align and center the axle
Thanks so much I had a feeling you was going to say that im no mechanic so if I buy all four how do you suggest I install them

It’s probably just road grime or overspray, nothing to worry about
JK Gear and Gadgets Ok man, thanks appreciate the response. Thanks for your time. Very informative vid. You gained a sub
could you do the same installation for the 97 wrangler tj?
Unfortunately no, the coil buckets are different and it would require much more custom fabrication work.
@@JKGearandGadgets thank you for the reply! and much appreciated. I'll do some more research - the spending continues lol

If you lower the jeep on the bump stop without springs will they fully compress or can you air them up enough to show some shaft?
I’ve never tried that, however you could probably add some nitrogen to make them stiff. However I would be careful because you don’t want to blow the seals
I'm having a problem with my coil spring stretching and not falling out. I'm guessing I'm needing the coil spring compressor tool.
Are your shocks disconnected

Might have to unbolt one side of the track bar.
@@JKGearandGadgets god I hope not lol.
Is there a mounting bracket that will works for these for a rear install?
Teraflex makes a bolt on kit, but sadly they aren’t hydraulic bumps. Most rear hydraulic bumpstops require cutting and welding to the frame
@@JKGearandGadgets yeah i know but i was wondering if you know of any of the weld on brackets fit the dv8 ones
Hector Green ahh gottcha. Sadly no. The rear kits require a clamp or bolt style bumpstop
@@greenteamadventures hey man! i know this is an old comment but stay tuned for a rear bumpstop video soon!!
@@JKGearandGadgets o sweet
Do you know if these are aluminum or steel? I'm just wondering if they are going to rust or not.
Aluminum body

How are they holding up after all this time?, I'm considering buying a set but can't find any long term reviews
Still doing great!
I’ve been meaning to do a review update
Are those real hockey pucks?
100%
Are you running the same bump stops in the rear?
No, still the factory rear. Hopefully I’ll do the rear soon
What suspension kit are you running?
It’s a mix of components, but Metalcloak 4.5” springs, bilstein shocks, JKS trackbars, assorted control arms etc. I would reccomend rockkrawler or metalcloak complete lifts
Are you running stock drive lines?
What specific driveline are you talking about? Driveshafts are still stock, been waiting to finish the one ton swap first since they require custom shafts
Do the dv8 bump stops make alot of noise?
No, unless your not lifted much and they are constantly “bumping”
@@JKGearandGadgets hmm i have a jlr with 2 inch lift im thinking about trying these out looks like right now i have 4inchs of travel from my axle strike pad and current bump stop.
How have you liked these?
They are great 🤘
You lost wheel travel like that even the urethane bump stops compress when bottoming.
It’s set up correctly. The shock is your limiting factor on uptravel.
@@JKGearandGadgets You measured the urethane stop uncompressed and the hydrostop compressed. So either your urethane stops were not set correctly, and as they compressed, your shocks would have bottomed out, or you set the hydrostop too short because you measured the uncompressed urethane stops.
