@@Hvacnc I just bought it last week, its coming tomorrow. If I can remember in a few weeks ill check back in and let you know who it compares to the DR58. It is important to remember the Inficon is a IR leak detector.
@Mudo94 I've had the d tek stratus for a few weeks now. It's amazing! Way better than my fieldpiece and definitely worth the money. No more false positives that my dr58 suffered from.
That’s how most infrareds are. I’m considering buying the HD spec of this leak detector because I have an ultrasonic for when I want to pin point or can’t accurately gauge what my tek mate is saying. But I honestly think either of these are good choices they both tell you if you are getting closer and they both check down to the same leak level at 0.03 which is lower than any soap bubble. Fieldpiece has Inficon beat imo for the price
My DR 82 needs to basically sit on the leak. Not good for really small leaks. The heated diode inficon catches the general leaks better. Right evap leaks the DR 82 fails every time. I replaced the filter
I have the HD one, that baby never lets me down
I have the HD one, it always lets me down. So many false positives and never consistent. I just bought a d tek stratus. Buy once cry once.
@@ZRock7771how are you liking it? I seen another YT channel and he has went thru 2-3 of those stratus

As I understand, the IR model is triggered by a differential. Accordingly, one has to keep the wand sweeping during the scan unlike the HD model.

Thanks for the info brotha… Took your advice and bought my first leak detector. Ended up going with the DR82 based out of your recommendation.
In your opinion which one is better?
I’ve had better experiences with the DR82, its my go to and i grab the DR58 as a second opinion. So I if you only plan to get one I lean toward the 82
@@AZSolutions92even tho in the video it looks like you struggled a bit to find it with the 82 compared to the 58?
Yes because if the leak has contaminated a whole are it's hard to find if the detector goes off everywhere.
Does the dr82 detect all kinds of refrigeration? really thinking about buying one but wanna make sure before spending all that money
Reminds me of the Yellow Jacket leak detector.
Good~~! Thankyou!
