Oh wow! I knew Stephanie could sing.. but I never knew she could SING!! Beautiful.
Some videos from a view years ago, Stephanie sang a few times when a music group held a music workshop at LaLande
I spell my Patti with an i too👍🏻
Trained in Opera.
I am sorry she seems to have stopped singing. But I guess her life has taken a different turn.
Beautiful voice 😊
Use the old towels for Lancelot to lay on around the house. You could even embroider a dog on the corner to know which are his.
That's a really good idea!
Stephanie’s singing was so beautiful. Didn’t know she could act, too!
They can also be used as wadding in quilts or like sewing.
Great minds think alike. I was thinking bath time but yours is better.
Yes, we would use old towels to dry our dog after a walk.
I love going thrift shopping with Philip. He finds the best functional and sometimes optional accent pieces. He also has a terrific way of defending his purchases. 😂
The best towels in my humble opinion is one that absorbs the water so you feel it has actually dried you!
Exactly! It's so strange to use a towel that almost seems waterproof.
So never use clothes softener and don't tumble dry them. The most absorbency comes from line drying.
Years ago I didn't use any washing soap at all, I used wash balls which had little stones(?) in, in my washing machine and after a few washes to get rid of all the buildup in my clothes, especially jeans and towels, they were the softest ever when line dried.
I’ve noticed with towels with ‘decorative bands’ near the ends of the towels can shrink from washing & drying. The result is the ends no longer lay flat.
@@kmarch6630that’s because now a days they are made from micro fibre instead of Terry cloth.
@@ChristineKelly1000 I didn't realize that. I'm not a fan of microfiber sheets either.
“I’m all porcelained out”
Phillip, what makes you want to lie like that? 😂😂
Marie is so funny! Love her! 😂🥰
And Stephanie, you have such a beautiful voice! 👏🏻🥰👏🏻
Yes. Phillip. How can you 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Philip I love the vase you should get it
Dear Stephanie, PLEASE, PLEASE sing again sometime soon. Encore! 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Yes we all love to hear you sing every time you are just superb ❤❤❤❤
Yes, the restored chapel will be calling for an opening celebration!❤️
Wow, Steph! What a performance!
With a voice like yours you can't possibly retire Stephanie! I love the happy atmosphere at Lalande .
Note that she has to retire because in order to sing opera the performers/singers have to practice every day and now, she is busy with the château, she does not have time to do so. Same goes to ballet, etc.
Here! Here!
...there's always time to make music ✨🎵🎶💃& art!!
p.s. Stephanie could sing out of the phone book & we'd all be enraptured!!
I love to see Marie so happy now
What a lovely surprise Stephanie you never cease to amaze & entertain us! That last shot of you & Lancelot….Adorable 😊
Room names on towels are great idea. Keep a lot with no names to use in emergency and ready to be embroidered as replacement
Actually they could just do a few with the room name and then the others as generic with the regular logo.😊
Great idea
Towels and facecloths are one of the highest expenses running a hotel or B&B. They get destroyed with make-up stains (lipstick, mascara, foundation) and other things that don't easily wash out. They get taken home by guests. Especially if they're really nice and plush. It's part of the costs, not much you can do.
As a guest, I would be happy even with just hand towels embroidered. If “the state of the people” (lol) needed extra bath towels, plain would work...for me anyway. Embroidery on towels can feel scratchy.
Wonderful clip of Stephanie singing Poulenc, not an easy piece. Congratulations!
Natalie's statement "depending on the state of the people" is so realistic of what goes on behind the scenes at all places around the world 😮
I thought it was hilarious 😂
Ellen,
Actually what she did was
" translate " from Spanish to English, but unfortunately it was not the word in English. In Spanish the word is Estadía, which of course means Stay ( as in how long at the inn )so that is why she used State. We here at home immediately understood what she meant.
I thought that Nati actually meant the word 'stay' and was meaning that it "depended on the guests stay" as in how long the guests were staying because obviously if they stayed longer, they'd require more towels.
The more you customize the towels, the more in demand they will be for guests to take home. But that may be a good problem to have. I imagine detailed embroidered towels would sell well on your website.
That's a great idea! Or before the guests leave La Lande.
Great selling point
A wonderful thing to buy in memory of LaLande and your room.
Yes especially for some who can’t get there yet
Omg! Stephanie’s face when Marie asked her if Phillip deserved a kiss! 😂💖
I laughed so hard, had to watch it several times!
It was a beautiful surprise to hear you singing ❤️ how fantastic.
Thank goodness there are people who still care about restoration. If not for the few so much would be lost to the world.
I agree. Thank goodness Stephanie was the one who bought and rescued LaLande. One would shudder to think if a developer bought the property. Bull doze the Chateau and build a gated community of townhouses or a shopping center. It's enough to make your eyelashes twitch.!!
Philip, you must've fallen even more in love with Stephanie in that opera clip, so stunning and with her awe-inspiring voice.
Sometimes I feel that Phillip and Marie are like brother and sister.
very well said
Mmm no, too flirty
More like family banter. No flirting
That was amazing to watch Stephanie perform and sing opera! What a treat! You look so cool with your platinum blond hair! :)
Stephanie you are glowing with Happiness 🌹
Wow, Stephanie has quite the powerful voice! Great to see a small bit of your performance, thank you.
Oh my gosh I love all the finds. So adorable snuggled in the window
Those bleeding hearts are perennials. They can go into your garden and look lovely!
the little pink flowers, yes, awesome garden plant in the shade
I have bleeding hearts in my small garden and they are amazing. They love shaded areas and would also actually be wonderful as a woodland plant.
PROTECT FROM FROST!!!
@@calgramBleeding Heart is a hardy perennial and survives frost just fine. They grow here in USDA Zone 3 where the temps can fall into below 0F.
@@calgramwe have them also in gardens and I live in winter wonderland. Lots of snow and could get up to -20. We dont protect them and they’ll do just fine :)
Steph and Lancelot, so adorable.
Love when Marie & Philip go shopping! They have to justify purchases with Stef! Haha!
My towel preference is absorbent over fluffy. I can’t stand a towel just moves the water around.
Absolutely delightful to hear Stephanie sing!
❤️🇨🇦
The pink bleeding hearts are actually an outdoor plant, once you get tired of them inside. They're a great woodland plant, and do well iln partial shade, they don't need full sun. They will die back in the winter, but come out and bloom in the early Spring. So that one with all the damage, just plant in the garden.
Oh Lala stephanie your opera singing is just beautiful.
Opera singer? What else do we not yet know about you, Stephanie?!! Bravo!
She talks about it more in her earlier videos.
She also sang more in the earlier videos.
Its mentioned quite often in the Chateau DIY series on UK tv.
Stephanie - your singing was glorious ! You should start again !🌹
Stephanie I loved hearing you sing it was beautiful such a talent ❤xx
Stephanie needs to sing again. ❤ She was talked into singing a few years ago during the musical retreat week. Her voice was great.
Wow!!! Just wonderful. That voice and attitude. Stephanie has got the moves.
Wow, I had no idea Stephanie can sing like that, what s stunning voice and performance! I bet I am not alone in wanting to see more!
My aunt used to say “When in doubt, don’t”. That saying has saved me many times. 🤗🇨🇦
Oh my gosh you look absolutely stunning on stage!!!
I think so too!!
So nice to see Andi and to hear Stephanie sing! Give Mollie some extra love for putting up with the little usurper! (Of course, give Lancelot an extra pat when Mollie is not looking!)
yes he might be little but he's a HUGE usurper
Stephanie the singing clip was such a treat. And I loved the brocante outing. I love linen, especially vintage and antique.
Be careful of putting candles into glasses that aren’t Pyrex. Even a tea light can explode a drinking glass and send hot wax and flames everywhere. It happened to me and I was stunned
OMG Stephanie! When Marie asked i Philip deserved a kiss you became Isabelle!
Stephanie, you are amazing. The clip of you singing was beautiful. I love watching you and all the people around you. Your family members are precious. Congratulations to you and Phillip. 💕💕💕💕🇺🇸
I donate my old towels to veterinary clinics or rehabilitation facilities. They are always in need of towels and blankets for the animals.
I love hearing you sing Stephanie! I have to stand by Cyril! I would certainely enjoy seeing you get out of your retirment temporarly...maybe...i mean it would be vlog gold ;)
Absolutely!!!
Artists never retire ...they may change their repertoire a bit ...but never retire!!
Love darling Molly’s calm manner & how she only had eyes for Amaury, despite sweet little Lancelot’s overtures…….. 😍😍
Stéphanie, as if it weren't possible to fall even more in love with you! Fantastic to see you singing!
Exquisite singing, Stephanie! Truly flawless. Sing for us all whenever you're inspired to do so...please! 🤗 And what a hawk eye Phillip has for finding treasures at bargain prices! Lovely vlog! Thank you.
Witnessing Stephanie's captivating performances always brings immense joy, and when Philipp joins in the vlogs, it adds an enchanting dimension that truly warms my heart! ❤️ I would absolutely adore seeing a singing series or more musical content-it would be a delightful addition to your already wonderful vlogs!
I love hearing you sing Stephanie. There's such a richness to your voice. I thought about that when you were hilariously singing The Jungle Book song to scare the snakes and reminded from the video of you singing during your opera career. Amazing.
Andie, Philip and Marie...the dream team!!!
Regards to a candle in the glass with bamboo you bought-it won’t work as candles need a special type of glass or otherwise it’ll crack.
What a fun one, so many great finds by Phillip and Marie -- and Stephanie's performance -- woww!!
Stephanie your voice is so beautiful please don't retire. You have a beautiful gift please share it with the world!
Wonderful to hear you singing Poulenc, Stephanie - it really suits you! Beautiful!
yes maria .. theres a reason its still there phiip
Stephanie your voice is amazing!
Team Amaury for the towel choice and ideas.
Make bath mats out of the old towels. Also you can make "Turbie Twist" hair towels, which will save room in the washer.
The men, who have no concept of washing, drying, folding and putting away laundry, think (@2:30) that putting the he room name on the towel is a lovely idea. The ladies know that's added work and inefficient. lol
The plant with the dark brown saw leaves radiating from the central stork is a pseudopanax, a New Zealand native species still surviving from prehistoric times. Those leaves are the juvenile ones that were eaten by the ancient Moa bird like a 9 foot ostrich . As the tree grew out of reach of the moa, the pseudopanax grew its more delicious mature leaves which by then were out of reach and it could develop as quite a different tree.
Calamondin (or Calamansi as we call it here) is a citrus fruit. It's sour, stronger than lemons but this is our standard substitute for lemons in dishes. We use it in cooking (in marinades, on the stove, in finishing the dish, etc). It's great as a juice (hot or cold -- cold to fight the heat, hot when you're not feeling well) but you'll need several to squeeze to get enough juice but don't forget to mix it with water. You can sweeten it with honey or sugar. It is something you will find in every Filipino kitchen and finds itself in a LOT of Filipino dishes.
Oh Stephanie! Hearing you sing made me tear up! You are absolutely incredible 🙏❤️😍 I used to sing in a classical choir and miss it terribly. Music is everything ❤️🎶
The quilts are so beautiful 👏 What a find!
I was just re-watching your group trip to Egypt. And, I thought “ what s Greta life. She deserves it because she made all those curtains all by herself during her winters alone at the chateau!!! Lovely Stephanie. I love the way you live.
What an absolute treat to see you preforming on stage, Stephanie! Especially with that beautiful piano and equally talented musicians! I would love to see more in the future!! ❤️❤️
WOW Stephanie! What a beautiful voice and amazing preformance!
Okay, I love Amory's idea with the bedroom names. Maybe just do them on wash cloths? Since in a towel display the washcloth is usually on top, it will be seen. Also, washcloths are small, less to embroider and you can have many for each bedroom much easier. It would be a very nice customized touch. New ones could also be sold as souvenirs or something.
Stephanie and Philip, you two are such a good couple. You make me smile.
Finally, after all these years getting to hear you sing opera! You were magnificent!
There's actually quite a few older videos of her singing. Especially Christmas carols and during music workshops and Easter sing-off's.
Never saw Stephanie sing like that before. Magnificent is right.
Loved the singing Stephanie. But the thing that makes me smile is how happy Maria is since she came back to La Lande. And great buys, Philip. X
Happy to see I’m not the only one with a parrot-dog ❤
That piano is beautiful, as was your singing Stephanie. Only 50 if those Piano's ever made, so its very important to restore them for history of the arts. Talking of history and musical instruments....did you know that just up the road from your London flat was a shop that made and repaired Concertina's, the only shop in the world that made them. It should have been Grade listed but probably demolished by now. I wont say the road but 155 springs to mind, as a child I found the display in the shop window so beautiful when passing. I also learned Forte piano as a child. Thank you so much Stephanie for sharing your life 💕🇦🇺
I loved this vlog! I got goosebumps during S opera singing. Poor Lancelot attempts to charm Molly...The Emmaus finds, loved the cheeky kiss moment....You really made me smile throughout this video. Thank you so much!
Stephanie you really in your element while singing , you are so good …❤️
Stephanie’s good singing has very good emotional impact too! Wow wow! ❤
❤ Philip always brings a smile to my face with his enthusiasm . Thank you, Philip. Very happy to see one who is a genuine soul.
What a lovely voice. Another side to your talents.
A great team in which everyone compliments each other.
Lancelot is just the cutest angel, such a personality, i could watch him for hours on end. And Wow stephanie! What a performance...bravo! Encore!
Quel grande plaisir de voir la chanteuse talente de Stephanie dans Les Mamelles de Tirésias! Merveilleux!! 💫
The new prerequisite to stay Chateau de la Lande is what STATE are the guest in ? LoL 😂
😉
My word ...what an incredible surprise! 😲...Stephanie's voice and performance is incredible!! ❤
Wow Stephanie, you sing beautifully 👏
Stephanie! I never realized what a lovely singing voice you have! I just stepped back from my church choir this year after 35 years of singing 2nd soprano, and I miss it so. Do you ever still sing any opera as a non-professional now that you've retired? That piano is formidable! My church has a two-piano concert each year; we've been blessed with Steinways donated to the church by various members through the years, and we just put a couple of them facing each other in the front part of the sanctuary for those.
And yes, massage works wonders for chronic body pain. That and gentle stretching and movements as in tai chi.
Quickest way to acquire some new porcelain: send Philip to the brocante not looking for any porcelain!
Calamondins are native to the Philippines; my mother used to have one in our back yard at the beach here in Florida. The fruit is very sour, and is marvelous when chopped up into your cranberry sauce through the holidays. That and for decoration were the only ways we ever used the fruit. A lot of people make calamondin preserves. Oh, and my cousins' children and grandchildren actually really liked to eat the sour fruit!
Your nail color is starting to grow on me; on camera, it looks like the pink part of when people have a "French manicure" but without the white tips!
Nice to see Phillip's new purchases. And Stephanie's voice was amazing! And what a bombshell with that platinum blonde hair.
Unbelievably good singing!
That is cheap to restore a single piano. I was quoted $72K for restoration of my family 1904 upright grand. I bought a new Steinway Boston upright grand for $17K. I was playing all the Steinways one day after lunch in a showroom. A man showed me all his favorite Steinways. He was playing them all, too. He showed me the Boston, and I saw the price, and told him I would take it. He wasn't a salesman for Steinway, he was a musician.
Your voice is a work of art. (So is precious Philip!)
Love Amaury’s towel test!!
Wow Stephanie, I knew you could sing, but that clip was incredible!! I’ve never heard of that kind of piano. So nice that it will be restored.
Great finds Philip at Emmaus!!
Love from Mary in Southern California 💗
Lancelot is such a dear sweet. Puppy. He loves everyone. Such a lil Snuggler with STEPHANIE.
WOW. WHAT A PIANO?!!@ AMAZING. A VERY VERY GOOD DONATION. STEPHANIE
THATS A PRICELESS PIANO!!❤
OMg that video of Stephanie singing absolutely floored me!!! I knew she was good but that was amazing! I do hope she reconsiders a Guest Performance once the Piano is restored… Amazing! Xoxo Ross Waghorn Brisbane Australia
Loved the clip of Stephanie singing Opera!
Such an amazing history of the piano and your singing talents.
I love to see where the donations go ❤ that piano looks amazing.
When Philip says 'I was talking to Lancelot' Stephanie gave him a look that reminded me of Mummy to a T 😅
I love lil Lancelot, hes darling!! He was so cute lying on the stool.🤗💙💜
You both are so joyful and gliw since you announced your engagement. Commitment to marriage truly is the best way. Congratulations!
Well done Nati with the towels. When I was at school I learnt to fold towels like that. It’s called A screen fold of three! 😊
Stephanie, I had no idea you could not only sing but sing OPERA and make it look easy! You’re so multifaceted with your talents. Love seeing the video and hearing your stunning voice. It’s a good thing there wasn’t a kidnapping by a masked phantom at the Opera House! Of course you would have to change your name to Christine but semantics! 😅
You truly have a lovely voice and thank you for sharing.
Sending everyone at LaLande and extended family members (blood or just of the heart) lots of love and positive vibes from across the world in the US State of Montana. ✨💖✨
The true test of a towel is how it looks and feels AFTER it has gone through the wash and dry. Put the sample towels through the wash and dry, and THEN evaluate them. Which one is still soft and absorbent? Also, fabric softener make towels less absorbent so it’s your choice - fabric softener or not. With the softener they feel better, but they are less absorbent. The same for clothes and undershirts - they are more absorbent without fabric softener.
That color on Philip is really perfect. Also - you have to be very careful about lighting candles in glass that’s not made for it. The glass can shatter.
Please sing again! It's a sport, and maybe too arduous to get back in training for big stage productions, but what a gift! What a voice! Do it for your own fun, not only opera, there's so much music to be enjoyed in the world!
Rather than embroider the room names on the TOWEL, perhaps a paper strip, pre-printed with the room name that just wraps around?
Note to Philip: I'm sure you've seen it before, but that last shot of Stephanie, when you say you're talking to Lancelot, the look she gives you. It's Isobel to a tee!
I like the paper label around a towel is a much better idea.
cymbidiums are great orchids. they need cool winters to set blooms, so your home should be perfect.
Wow i didn't realise you were a singer with a beautiful voice Stephanie. Love love love Lancelot. Philip always sets an amazing table for dinner or lunch with the little touches too. Marie made me laugh when she said to Philip there is a reason the vase is still on the shelf hahaha very true i think.
