Hi George, yep people are getting them on bait at the moment as the water has still got a bit of clearing to do. A week or so without any heavy rain and they will take a lure,. Cheers
Hey Stu, they are few and far between at this time of the year. They can be caught using bait but as for a lure it's pretty difficult. They become pretty lethargic at this time of the year with the cooler temperatures.
Been down to the mouth many times lately and had no luck on the Lures, as ol mates mentioned most Kahawai caught down there at this time of the year are caught on bait
@@extremeterrene Id say they will be back attacking the lure around the beginning of September. The water will still be cold but as the water temps warm up the Kahawai become more active.
catching them stinrays, looks like need better quality hook removers - think wilde sell a good set or knipex -- ill get a fella to call you them cheap ali express ones arent doing the business
Haha, I think I may have had a treble hook on that day and they can be a pain in the butt. I usually just use a single hook. Yeah get that fella to contact me.
Nice bro, do I need an license to fish there?
@@Luanr3 hey mate, no license needed if you are targeting kahawai only. Cheers

Its besn tough catching anything really. I did 2 days at Birdlings and got 2 Banded Wrasse but nothing else.
Yep, it is certainly a trying time of the year. Coleridge is fishing fairly well.
Are there any Kahawai around now? I've been trying at Rakaia but it's been too rough.
