My mom started teaching me how to pack to visit my grandparents (using pictures and numbers) when I was about 4. The one time my preschooler/kindergarten self did not pack sufficient underwear was the one time I needed it. Never again! 😂

This was hilarious 😂 Its ok to let the kids pack for themselves. Heres a trick. Mom used to write us a rough guideline list and tell us to pack. Dad would check when we were done. If we were missing things or had packed ridiculous things/stuff not allowed, we would have to do a few pushups and fix the packing. Dad was Navy and a backwoods survivalist instructor when he was younger. Everyone not having all their stuff and being prepared gave him like ptsd level anxiety

That was the last time I was prepared for everything - now it’s a carry on and personal item no matter where I’m going.
I can really relate to Kim- what a spot on sketch! I have ADHD and packing is a nightmare since it involves making most of the decisions for the whole trip during the packing phase. Decisions are already my kryptonite, and add in the packing for the kids (sadly my 3 aren’t yet able to pack on their own), and I become paralyzed. It’s easier to not make the decisions now by bringing the options and saving the decisions for later, when I have more info to inform the decision. The fact that we rarely go on family vacations may have something to do with this. Planning a big one though this summer to the east coast (from CA) for a family reunion and already stressing….

Love this. We are in states for my daughter's wedding and I packed like this. 5 of us and only two checked bags for 5 of us. I stuffed 5 carryons with gifts for family and friends plus 5 backpacks. OMG YES I feel this to the core! We just went to Iceland with carry ons. I literally sat on my suitcase to close it. The flight person at the gate told me I would have to check my bag and I was like “nope it fits” and I slid it into the check box near the gate. It just fit. I mean it hesitated before sliding into place but luckily it was heavy enough to fall completely in. 😂🙌🏼

Well as it turned out we had plumbing issues while we were gone so the plumbers had to come in do stuff. So, I told my family "THATS why we clean the house BEFORE we leave, do you really want strangers seeing your dirty underwear lying in the bathroom" They understood after that and never questioned it again lol

I once took 5 kids to an out of state dance competition packing everything in backpacks only (including several costumes, make up and hair supplies, clogging shoes) and still had one whole backpack just for breakfast foods (poptarts, muffins, cereal) because I knew the competitions would start before the hotel restaurant opened for the day. Also Kim, you think those wedge heals are comfy?!? 😳 Even your flats looked uncomfortable to me. 😏 My idea of being girlie is wearing mascara. 😁 I'm 47 and also in perimenopause. I have an electric blanket plugged in next to a fan on my nightstand so that I can easily switch back and forth.
Oh my goodness, those shoes were totally different. Even the shade of beige was a little different and thick heels are always safer when you don't know what the terrain is gonna be. Also, you should wear the white eyelet overlay dress. It would be really pretty! ❤️

I'm very guilty of over packing!! Everytime we go to Florida I bring like 20 out fits, alwats get a place w washer and dryer, rewash like the same few outfits over and over. Just need a few outfits and a swimsuit, but over pack no matter what 😂😂😂
I don't start packing two weeks in advance and I don't even try to use a small bag but everything else is totally me. I'm doing it right now for a trip tomorrow. Packing for every climate available. Swimsuits to long underware.
I make lists weeks in advance and revise them over and over to be more efficient, but inevitably end up doing all the actual packing at the absolute last minute. This includes tossing in extra shoe options as we’re heading out the door to the airport.

I'm very guilty of over packing!! Everytime we go to Florida I bring like 20 out fits, alwats get a place w washer and dryer, rewash like the same few outfits over and over. Just need a few outfits and a swimsuit, but over pack no matter what 😂😂😂

I don't start packing two weeks in advance and I don't even try to use a small bag but everything else is totally me. I'm doing it right now for a trip tomorrow. Packing for every climate available. Swimsuits to long underware.

I make lists weeks in advance and revise them over and over to be more efficient, but inevitably end up doing all the actual packing at the absolute last minute. This includes tossing in extra shoe options as we’re heading out the door to the airport.
