For me, it's also about imagining someone having to bring my family and me stuff into the hospital after an accident... They should be able to find clean clothes, right?!

Right?! It's so relatable! But at least She never tried to plant a family pumpkin patch 5 minutes before they were supposed to leave at 6am like my mom did 😬So we would be already for the start of harvest when we came back 😩What memories are made of I guess 😊

"What if I die on vacation and then everyone will know I'm a slob" is a thought I've had many times while I ferociously clean before vacation
When I do this now... I remind myself 'I'll be gone so I doubt I'm really gonna care" . The anxiety is still there just a little bit though.

I am completely that person who needs the house to be immaculately clean before we leave on vacation. I need to come home to a clean house.

Coming in a clean house after a vacation is EVERYTHING. Keep that peacefulness and calm energy. Coming into dirty dishes or laundry already makes me feel exhausted

My parents have got a caravan and that means everything is packed into the car, bags and the caravan, which includes a kitchen sink, so when my parents pack, the joke is that everything is packed, including the kitchen sink!

My mom started teaching me how to pack to visit my grandparents (using pictures and numbers) when I was about 4.
The one time my preschooler/kindergarten self did not pack sufficient underwear was the one time I needed it.

Me too! The problem is that if you don’t pack it, you are going to want what you left at home! I tried packing light one time and I hated it!
You are so absolutely right. But packing two weeks before a vacation! I’m having a panic attack! Try two months it gives you time to unpack and repack multiple times. 🤣

I can really relate to Kim- what a spot on sketch! I have ADHD and packing is a nightmare since it involves making most of the decisions for the whole trip during the packing phase. Decisions are already my kryptonite, and add in the packing for the kids (sadly my 3 aren’t yet able to pack on their own), and I become paralyzed. It’s easier to not make the decisions now by bringing the options and saving the decisions for later, when I have more info to inform the decision. The fact that we rarely go on family vacations may have something to do with this. Planning a big one though this summer to the east coast (from CA) for a family reunion and already stressing….
This is how me and my mom pack BUT she went to Iceland and forgot spare glasses and of course lost hers the first day in Iceland.

I do the same and wonder about possibility of not making it back home and people are going to see this or that of mine. 🤣 😆 PLUS there's enough to do when you return from a trip without all the things you left undone b4 you left. I'm very guilty of over packing!! Everytime we go to Florida I bring like 20 out fits, alwats get a place w washer and dryer, rewash like the same few outfits over and over. Just need a few outfits and a swimsuit, but over pack no matter what 😂😂😂

My mother in law started packing at least a month before our family vacation. We all had to bring a carry on bag and check our bags. Granted she was bringing things for a destination wedding but she definitely had snacks for the entire week and any medication needed.
Kim is correct on every one of those points. Packing cubes are magic.

As someone from New England I can fairly say, pack everything!!! Our weather changes seasons in the same afternoon and we need shoes for ALL kinds of terrain.

Several years ago we went on vacation, and I drove my family crazy cleaning the house before we went. Well as it turned out we had plumbing issues while we were gone so the plumbers had to come in do stuff. So, I told my family "THATS why we clean the house BEFORE we leave, do you really want strangers seeing your dirty underwear lying in the bathroom" They understood after that and never questioned it again lol
Oh yep, that’s how it goes!!! Have to come home to a clean house. And always a few things to go in hubbys suitcase!! Hahahaha!
Nailed it. AND 18 loads of laundry because that 1 of 2300 pieces of clothing is somehow a keystone to the entire wardrobe. :)

Love to hear your giggling as you are filming! I remember the first time I arrived in England. I was dropped off at the estate - I had a large red roller back. “Your from the States.. right”. That was the last time I was prepared for everything - now it’s a carry on and personal item no matter where I’m going.
That's me!! Especially with "letting the kids pack on their own."
Trick is to start them young with a picture-based checklist! That way they learn what they need, and the consequences of not bringing it! 😂

I one million percent insist on changing the sheets on our bed before we leave. I want to come home to clean sheets, and go to bed, in our bed, nice and cozy and clean! It's the best.

OMG YES I feel this to the core! We just went to Iceland with carry ons. I literally sat on my suitcase to close it. The flight person at the gate told me I would have to check my bag and I was like “nope it fits” and I slid it into the check box near the gate. It just fit. I mean it hesitated before sliding into place but luckily it was heavy enough to fall completely in. 😂🙌🏼

This was hilarious 😂 Its ok to let the kids pack for themselves. Heres a trick. Mom used to write us a rough guideline list and tell us to pack. Dad would check when we were done. If we were missing things or had packed ridiculous things/stuff not allowed, we would have to do a few pushups and fix the packing. Dad was Navy and a backwoods survivalist instructor when he was younger. Everyone not having all their stuff and being prepared gave him like ptsd level anxiety

Love this. We are in states for my daughter's wedding and I packed like this. 5 of us and only two checked bags for 5 of us. I stuffed 5 carryons with gifts for family and friends plus 5 backpacks. Going home this weekend and trying to stuff everything we bought in our luggage. I did get a game for when we go home. ;)

Every single thing said and done in this video is how I am when packing. I have been my way out the door, seen a pink highlighter on my desk, and snatched it up and put it in my purse as I leave, thinking, "yes, I might need this at the beach, so just in case..."
This is so me! Does anyone else get so stressed out from packing (because I don’t want to forget anything, and I always change my mind about what I want to wear and hate all the clothes that I packed) but then it takes me less than a half hour to unpack everything when I get home and put dirty laundry in the wash.
Unpacking is so easy compared to packing!

I make lists weeks in advance and revise them over and over to be more efficient, but inevitably end up doing all the actual packing at the absolute last minute. This includes tossing in extra shoe options as we’re heading out the door to the airport.
