To add to the voices here, I got my Midwest offset just before Christmas, it is a great piece of kit, I can only recommend, I've been experimenting with how to run in, I'll post my views here when I am a bit clearer on it.

I have just ordered one of these from the same company, couple questions if you could answer them, with the firebox door being wide open do you not burn through wood faster with the heat lost through the door? How many average sized wood splits would you use for say a 6 hour cook? Do you buy your wood local in bulk or online?

    • @skinnyboybbquk
      @skinnyboybbquk  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

No problem with the questions. Thanks for watching
No you don’t burn through more. I found closing the door restricting the air flow the splits either started to go out or I would loose the temp. You can’t run offsets like a kamado for example.
Each split I use lasts between 30-40 min
I get my wood in bulk from big k but I also get smaller boxes from love logs
I have started to mix it up a little using love logs wood first for the initial smoke then once wrapped use the big k

Thanks for the reply and all the information, it was actually your review video that tipped me into actually pulling the trigger, I had been looking for a while and all the information in your video, and actually seeing the pit in all its glory made me actually buy it haha.

I've gone for the 1260x600, casters, counter balance door, front steel shelf and upgraded to tel-tru thermometers. Hoping it will be here before Christmas and just in time for my 30th haha, they did say lead time is only weeks instead of months currently so it could be possible 😁

Another great and informative review and glad your really happy with you pit.Taking nothing away or criticising you pit,but I have USA pit’s because I want branded and no doubt best made in the world. The extra they cost, remember, is over a lifetime. Also people must also consider UK Smokey Oak( very close to a US build)and BMmates which are excellent pits.

Thanks mate. Can’t talk about Smokey oak as I haven’t seen their pits but I do know of both.
I have seen many US branded pits and lots are great. I have to say I don’t get paid anything for promoting or talking about Midwest but with what I have seen and the cook the Midwest is on equal par if not a little better. What pit do you have ? On a side note if I was able to get the bm train pit o would I think that’s amazing.

@@skinnyboybbquk yes I think you said you bought it yourself, your pit looks very nice and many are very happy with them,it’s just I have a thing about US products.I’ve seen the train pits and they are beautiful and if I ever do catering Bbq it’s a must for me as it would draw the crowds.
It’s ridiculous how many I have, it’s my new hobby and what I’m listing is not being the big I am, just showing how I’m a bit like the Bbq nuts in the USA.
      I’ve recently sold - Masterbuilt 1050, Webber Smokey mountain, timberline 850 D2
      My Slimmed down Bbq is:
All Kamado Joes plus Kamado Space.
      GMG Davey Crocket.
      Franklin PKAF.
      PK GO with flip kit.
      Treager Ranger.
BM Mates offset with warming oven(actually a copy of a Lonestar).
      Yoder 1500s pellet grill.
      BM mates Argentine grill.
      Shirley Fabrication patio model.
      Franklin offset.
Clementi 800mm full stainless steel pizza oven.
Shirley Fabrication 48 inch tradition offset with off-road kit.
Lonestar Grillz 42 inch pellet grill with off-road kit.
Plus every grill has all the optional accessories.
      Plus other portable grills.
Soon I’ll also be adding the Midwest and Smokey oak for a UK to USA comparison.
