Wild Turkey 101 is my favorite bourbon. I'm 58 and I've been drinking it since high school. It's good enough to drink straight and it makes great cocktails. I'm not a connoisseur though, I'm a consumer.
Absolutely LOVE your frequency of uploads! I also appreciate the fact you aren’t a pretentious snob, but rather a genuine dude giving his thoughts. Cheers!
I JUST started my Bourbon journey. I got first 2 bottles: Evan Williams Black Label and Wild Turkey 101. Although the Evan Williams is pretty good, Wild Turkey 101 is DEFINITELY the standard to beat for me. Sipping on that WT101 was a real treat. I really enjoyed it. Thank you for the recommendations. I have gotten a lot of good suggestions from your channel. You have a new sub. Thank you.
evan williams bottled in bond is solid as well if you like WT101 and EW Black. If you want to spend a little more, I also love Woodford reserve, double oak. I’m still pretty new to Bourbon myself, but I’ve enjoyed all of those bottles over the last year
The only problem is that lately I’ve been having trouble finding it!! I love me some WT101 on the rocks. I just can’t find it in AZ anymore, even at places like Total Wine and More! 😢
Another fantastic review, TJ! I don't usually comment on videos, but as a social studies teacher, I adore the history and lore lessons you at the front of his bourbon reviews! Thanks for the fun info and passion in every video you make.
I have family visiting from Japan in a couple of months, and their first time out of the country. Was having a dilemma on which whiskey to stock, and this nailed it! Thanks.
It’s as good as most bourbons at twice the price. I’ve tried a lot of different ones but this is the best. Russell’s reserve is great and Jimmy Russell is an unbelievable distiller. I’m not surprised Wild Turkey 101 is so great.
I get it for 19.99 at my local Total Wine, that’s a hell of a deal!! I love WT101 neat and as a mixer. It was the first bourbon I had that made me say damn this stuff is good!! I’ll always have a bottle in my cabinet!
Love 101, it's definitely one of the best when you cross-analyze cost, availability, and quality. My ultimate best value is KC9 at Costco, 1.75L for $45 and it's one of my favorite go-to pours.
Excellent review! I honestly have never had WT101. I'm a huge fan of rare breed, but after watching this review I'm gonna be picking up a bottle of 101 soon!
Wild Turkey 101 is always stocked in my home bar. Heck to be very honest if I were forced to pick only one brand that I could only drink for the rest of my life I’d choose WT 101 😊
Great video mate, just bought a bottle today and looking forward to trying it later this evening. I usually drink Makers Mark but I think this will be even better!
I’m pretty new to bourbon. I went looking this morning for Buffalo Trace because of your review but couldn’t find any. So I picked up a bottle of 101 instead and here you are, doing a review. Nice!
If you like the Wild Turkey 101, check out Russel's Reseve 10 Year. Should be able to find it in mid-$30. Same distillers as WT101 but better. IMO it's better than than Buffalo Trace and much easier to find!
WT101 is a great whiskey and incredible value. How about a blind against Old Forester 100, Evan Williams BiB, and Early Times BiB (or any other good value bourbons)?
Russel's Reserve 10 Year is $35 at my go to store. Everything you love about Wild Turkey 101 put amped up. Can't go wrong with WT101 but for not much more the Russel's Reserve is even better. I try to always keep a bottle of it around.
Long time Wild Turkey 101 drinker. Funny thing is: in a blind test, Wild Turkey is chosen as the best bourbon by everyone I give it to. Especially the Bourbon snobs I have suckered into betting. Straight up is the way to drink it, but for those who like a mixed drink, Sprite and a twist of lemon is all you need. It's not, and has never been, a Bourbon for snobs and pretenders. It's a bourbon for real people to enjoy.
Literally my favorite whiskey as of now! It tastes like cherries or raspberries to me! Unfortunately, I drank nearly an entire bottle a few months ago. The next 3 days after that are a mystery.
I’m VERY new to bourbon and only have 4 bottles. This is one of them. The others are Makers Mark 46, Larceny Small Batch and Evan Williams 1783. Nice vid!
I couldnt agree more wt101 is Americana in a glass i have tried many bourbons in the 20-80 dollar class and i always find my self coming back to wt101 or wt rare breed both unbeatable in their price range. Wt101 makes an exceptional old fashion. If im drinking and an old fashion its always wt101 or knob creek 9 year.
I bought a bottle of Wild Turkey a few years back and a friend of mine tried it, and called it paint stripper. He is a liquor lover and he will not touch this stuff. Myself on the other hand love it.
Your friend is either just pretentious, or can't handle anything at all with a noticeable burn. Wild Turkey 101 is still something I drink regularly, alongside some really good stuff across all types of whiskey and gin. Standard Jim Beam, Jack Daniels, Evan Williams, etc ARE like paint stripper to me now, but Wild Turkey remains uniquely tasty.
I went through enough of this stuff in my 20s to power a rocket. It really is the best alcohol of all, to me. I have simple taste buds, but I'd probably choose this over all of the more expensive stuff I've had. I just don't drink it anymore because I'm tired of waking up hungover.
I just tried ot and ended up drinking half the bottle before i realized it it really is good and sneaks up on you my favorite bourbon. O tried it because wild turkey was John Wayne's favorite and after this it is going to be my go to
Another killer review. I’ve been wondering about Bib&Tucker. The bottle looks fancy in the store but cheap enough to afford here and there. I think it’s pretty good but I’d like to see what @Brewzle thinks
Evan Williams 100 Proof Bottled in Bond or the Wild Turkey 101 are my choices for cheap Burboun. Evan Williams usually about $5.00 per bottle cheaper in NC.
It may not be as available as WT 101, but Early Times Bottled in Bond is under $30 at the only store in over 100 miles around me that carries it, and it's really good! It might be a contender for that spot of best value for money.
Only two bottles that I can think of with as good or better value. Evan Williams BiB ($15 in Dallas, TX) or Old Grandad 114 ($23 in Dallas). WT 101 is right there in terms of value
I tried Evan Williams bib and old granddad bib very early in my tastes and found them a bit much but I need to revisit those. Wild turkey 101 I had for the first time a few months ago and actually really like it to the point I might make it my go to bottle
If you like wild turkey 101 you need to try wild turkey rare breed it is 116 proof. The bottle are not everywhere but if you can find it. It is a really good bottle
It might have been high rye in the 70s but not really by today’s standards. I love Jimmy but he can be a bit of a used car salesman when he wants to be. As far as being an exceptional whiskey and maintaining that continuously since the 50s, Wild Turkey is untouchable. When it comes to each big brand’s flagship whiskey Wild Turkey smokes everybody in the Bourbon world. Also, to get the true Wild Turkey experience I fully recommend you take a whole mouthful(1.5-2oz) chew it by letting it roll over the tongue and the whole soft palette and swallow. That deep vanilla hit, followed by a breathtaking fruit and barrel char is the essence of what Bourbon should be. Very well crafted, but still a little wild. Like the frontier that produced it.
I don't care about bourbon that's "good for the price." I just want something I will enjoy and this hits all the marks. The price sure doesn't hurt. I do a pour on most days and this is in the mix for sure. Blows away Evan Williams 100 and even Old Forester 100.
went to a small liqour store the other day lookin for it and i shit you not the bourbon shelves were so so small it was unbelievable... i was able to see and look at every bottle within 2 minutes and immediately left.. went to one closer to home and the bourbon selection was so huge i was struggling to find anything i knew.probably over 300 different bourbons on that huge shelf
I started getting into whiskey and recently bought some wt 101 based on another bourbon channels suggestion. I like it but still want to see that brewzle score.
Better Value... Fighting Cock, Early Times BIB, Evan Williams BIB, JW Dant BIB, JTS Brown, Ancient Ancient Age 10*, Elijah Criag Small Batch those are the only ones I can think of that are good and also less than 101.. which is $24 here.
I'm not a fan of the 9yr KC. To me, there's just too much burn and not enough flavor. I've always enjoyed Maker's in my old fashioneds but since discovering WT 101... it's my new go to. Excellent in old fashioneds and drinkable neat.
@@marcusbuckslayer3280 WT 101 is what I primarily use in my old fashioneds, too. 2 oz of WT 101, .25 oz demerara syrup, and either 3 dashes of aromatic + orange bitters, or black walnut bitters is fantastic. Adding some cocoa bitters with the black walnut isn't bad, either. Another great whiskey is Rittenhouse Rye bottled in bond - it goes even better with black walnut than Wild Turkey. Ok I'm back. I coughed up $42 for the 1 liter bottle tonight and in Westchester NY, it is roughly the same price as JD no.7. Ok this is my review...It smells really good and although I got used to JD, WT101 is just as good if not better. Flavor is smoother than JD and the taste of Oak is slightly prominent than JD and the spiciness on the backend is much longer which I love quite a bit. I grew to love JD and so WT101 may just be one I might wind up buying over JD and I hate saying that because I've been drinking JD steadily for some time now. It's kinda sad that I might have found a new love. You know what, I'll have both and why not? They're both great for the price and unique in their own way and that's not a bad thing. It's kinda sad that I might have found a new love. You know what, I'll have both and why not? They're both great for the price and unique in their own way and that's not a bad thing. Cheers bourbon gang!
I prefer Early Times BIB but hard to find in East Texas
All other bourbons are what you try, WT 101 is what you stock up on! 🥃Cheers!
Yeah, if you are a seasoned whiskey drinker then I completely agree.
Doesn't beat BT at the same price point, but I love 101
