We took the GLB out for a test drive this past weekend. We also drove the Hyundai Palisade. Personally, I found the Palisade too big for me. I like the room, but I don’t feel comfortable driving huge SUVs. We also have an elderly parent living with us. So the height of the vehicle has to be taken into account. I think the GLB checked off all the items on my list. First, the car does not feel like a big SUV. Second, it’s the right height- you don’t have to climb into the car. Third, I have a short reach (not tall person) and not having to lean forward to access the touch screen was a big plus. MB offers (standard) a kind of mouse pad right were your right and rests. So I can access everything without having to move from my driving position at all. MB also offers like a Siri OS for the car. So you can do a lot of things via voice commands. Fourth, the 3rd row seat option means you don’t have to get into a larger SUV in order to get extra seating. I felt comfortable driving it and I though the handling and shift transitions were very smooth. I think MB did a great job with this vehicle and we’ll be leasing the GLB within the next couple of weeks
This is perfect for our family with two kids. With the few times a year the grandparents visit. 3rd row is great as the kids will slide back there when they visit. But 99% of the time the third row will be folded away. We shopped this against the 2020 highlander and this beat it as far as tech, materials and finish. Mini telluride...but wife didint want a kia so this was a great fit.
I actually bought one 7 days ago! So far, I love it which surprises me coming from a GMC Yukon. It's fun to drive and rides nice. Still trying to figure out all the different things on the screen but getting there! Learned a couple things on this review, thank you.
@@Chrissy_W Loving the car!!! Took a long weekend w the husband and were in the car about 10 hours total. It was comfortable and the seat kinetics really helped I think. Thank you for asking Chrissy!
@@barbkane9987 AWESOME news! I'm looking at getting one. What extras would you say are necessary? Does the car beep a warning at you when in reverse and something is in rear of car can't see? Trying to decide betwen the GLB and GLC.
@@Chrissy_W No, it doesn't beep when in reverse and you're getting close to something. I personally would rather if it did, I miss that. The lane assist is something I never had but have found that I love that! I absolutely would never pay for a sun roof, I've had them and don't like them. The GLB is a tad bigger than the GLC w a lot more head room, so for my money, that's why I picked the GLB. Let us know what you get!! Good luck!
@@barbkane9987 Thanks so much for all your help! I'll keep you updated here. I have a 2015 Mercedes GLK350 which I love but it is a dinosaur when it comes to technology & safety features. I was hoping the camera had audible alerts. My husband has a Jeep Wrangler that has it and I love it for backup safety. I have the heated seats and steering wheel on my GLK. A must have in the NE. Thanks again!
Looks like a mini GLS. Saw one side by side, side profile and window lines same. But you need the options in, and that’s where I think the price on GLC out prices GLB.
Great review. I appreciate the time you spent in the cockpit showing the instrument cluster and gear shifter. That has been missing in other reviews. I love the boxy look of this model. Baby G wagon. The sliding back seat is great for family, too. The one thing that is missing is an audible alert when in reverse and something gets picked up by a sensor. I will look to adding one after market, which is lame.
This vehicle is not just a 'slide-in' between the A and C. It is quite a different beast, more like the older (to 2015) GLK 250 and 350. As to its functionality, I would buy it as an upgrade from, say, a Subaru Forester, and it has distinct size advantages over an Audi Q3 or VW Tiguan. The Lexus NX is nowhere near the GLB, except that it will come in a Plug-in really soon, something that is several years away for this model. Actually, the GLB has the Volvo XC40 as a comparator, and again, electric aside, the GLB comes out quite a ways ahead in terms of features and elegant design. Tricked out, the GLB will cost more than an Acura RDX, but again, I'd say well worth it. And I am pretty confident it WILL handle some rugged backcountry roads and certainly in the 4Matic version, be fine for snowy mountain passes.
Could u Pls compare glb & glc which are the same company? Normally, you make a comparison between different car manufacturers but this time pls make for mercedes vs mercedes cos these two are hard to choose.
Hey Car Confections love the video and this channel. I'm thinking about getting this car, quick question though, how was the cabin noise as compared to the Glc (roughly) ?
I love the 2020 Mercedes GLB 250!!! It’s very sexy and sexy lol! It’s a great price too!!! I love Mercedes!! I can’t wait for the Electric Mercedes eqc!!!!
I was really looking forward for this model to come out but they've priced it way too high. When I spec it out on the Mercedes website and then spec out an identical GLC, the GLC is only $2,500 more. That's just too close in price for a car that's noisier, made in Mexico as opposed to the GLC being made in Germany, and being almost a full second slower to 60 miles an hour. Not to mention the rear-wheel-drive driving dynamics of the GLC. For some reason they charge $1,000 more for the AMG appearance packages on the glb also.
Chris Bianchi just leased 2020 GLC yesterday. GLB just didn’t feel as nice, both in terms of interior luxury, build, and driving dynamics for the price.
Yeah I don’t understand the point of all these lower tier Mercedes with very little price difference in comparison to mainstream models. $2,000 is nothing more once financing.
I’m finally in the position to be able to afford one of these with all the amenities. HOWEVER... are these any more reliable than the other Mercedes that are always plagued with problems and outrageously expensive to upkeep and fix? I’m used to Toyotas that don’t require anything but oil changes for like 10 years. I also hate how Mercedes nickels and dimes you for everything. They have stuff that’s an “option” but included as standard in a Camry.
Thanks for the review. When considering $6k difference between glb and glc (similar difference fully speced) what do you guys think is better in terms of value since you guys tried out both?
I love the exterior looks and went to look at one, thinking I would like it. I didn't. I never drove it, and I am sure it drives nice, but I couldn't get past the interior. I found the seats uncomfortable and the general appearance of the interior too shiny and blingy. Also, though I wouldn't ride there, the rear seats were flat and low. Maybe I'll take another look, but for almost $50K, I felt let down on my first look.
@@amandaavia I am 6'2" and large framed. The interior was just too tight for me and just didn't seem like someplace I could spend much time in, overall.
