Hop Hunter is excellent--if u can find it fresh (inside of 2 months)...otherwise, its pure lemon water. Lagunitas has impossible to read/decipher code but has good consistency. Prefer Stone IPA to both.
Laganitas uses a julian dating system. Black lettering around the base of the neck of a brown bottle is really tricky to see without good lighting and a white background.
Really appreciate this review. In all my years of drinking Sierra Nevada I've never had Hop Hunter. I'm new in my beer experience, despite drinking for about 20 years. Mainly stuck to the lagers.
Glad you enjoyed homie, Sierra makes fine beers ... and if you were into lagers then you're getting into beer at the right time, next summer will be the year of craft lagers!
I Really Enjoyed Hop Hunter A lot...Now With Lagunitas IPA..Its good BUT around here A lot of Stores That Carry It Most Of Em Have Nothing But Floats In Em.....I Mean The Inside Looks Like A Snowglobe....BUT Definitely Hop Hunter Loved It.
Thank you for being on TH-cam. I look for intelligent reviews from guys who respect alcohol. Oddly enough it's entirely easier to find intelligent whiskey guys on TH-cam and all the beer guys I've seen are either stereotypical or just young tools who think it's cool to chug beer. I just subscribed and I look forward to exploring your channel.
Amazing review! I would say, I prefer Serria Nevada's Hop Hunter that the Lagunitas IPA. Just my opinion. Love your beer reviews! As always. Keep up the good work! Cheeeeeeers
Hi Matt, I like your reviews! I like the Double review. I'd like to make a suggestion when you nose the beer, smell fresh ground coffee beans, this will clear up the hop particles in your nose. I'd like to add one more thing, drink plain water in between when tasting the beers. Keep it up!
Nice review, Lagunitas is a good go to that won't get you in trouble, drinkable and smooth like you said, didn't care for the thin quality and hops on the Hop Hunter, Torpedo is my favorite, but not sessionable enough, drinking a Stone IPA for the first time right now, but the jury is still out - have you reviewed this one? It's very bitter but super smooth...
That lagunitas had me do 20 push ups so damn fast got plenty more in me but i realized the hype it gives!! Feel cool after doing them not hot at all
Both are great beers and breweries .
Truth!
Which is the best tasting dark beer?
Man that’s a loaded question but if I’m being honest a 10 to 15-year-old Thomas Hardy ale is about the best for me
You described these very well! Thank you!
Thanks!
Two of my four favorite breweries.🍻🤘 excellent review...
The darker will always taste more likeable. But that how for I find most darker beer - side by side tasting always the winner for me.
I wouldn't say that hold true for me.

Yeah, that's the caveat with these "smaller" ABV hop forward beers, time is of the essence.

Is Hop Hunter still around? I've never seen it or heard of it before.

You talk about "floaties" are a bad thing!
Being the bottle conditioned and Belgian junkie I Love me some funky bits floating in my beer.
you can tell the date on the neck. it's hard to see and its some type of Julian date code. look it up on google.
lagunitas code on the bottom on the bottle is first 3 digits is the day in the year last two is the year...

Enjoyed the tasting notes in this video
+Homebrew Tasting Notes Thanks!
Matt, from what I can remember, Lagunitas prints a julian date code on the neck of the bottle.
Two beers the I’ve had several times, enjoy both...good review
This guy low key the reason Lagunitas tried to sue Sierra Nevada for copying the IPA fonts from their IPA bottle
