    Nice bro 👍! And i absolutely agree with a couple things, 1 that socket is life and if you dont have it dont call yourself a honda person, 2 it is also very difficult to feel a difference when doing a Crank pulley mod, youll feel it more while reving the engine than when driving it since its rotational mass youre removing, overall its a cool looking mod, just dont expect to feel a huge difference.

      @@RevsALot the weight of the socket helps loosen the crankbolt from what I’ve heard

    • @Mike-qo4kp
      @Mike-qo4kp ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RevsALot the thicker socket is actually a special Honda tool it allows you to lock the crankshaft pulley in place otherwise it wants to turn when breaking it loose but with the tool (which actually fits over the bolt itself) you lock the bolt in place. It's still very tricky.

      Thank you ♥️. Without a custom tune I won’t make as much probably around 240whp if I was to guess with all my bolt ons. But with a custom tune I’m hoping to go over 300whp

  • @RevsALot
    @RevsALot 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    Damn, great video man! I didn't realize how easy of an install this was. Might have to add this to one of the final bolt ons to see how much whp it'll get NA. Probably good for an extra 5-10whp🤷‍♂️, have to dragy again to see the difference on your 0-60.

      Lightweight crankshaft pulley is not going to yield net HP gains it's not supposed to. What you are doing is making the engine more efficient and easier to rev. It's a good bolt on but should be done with others. For example I would look at all of the pulleys you idler tensioner and water pump pulleys take them out and look at the ball bearings they will have a size stamped on them like 6204 or 6203 write down ALL the numbers example 6204-2rs all the numbers matter. Now go online and buy new ball bearings with the correct sizes and get some nice ones look at the rating they will tell you the type of grease used how fast and what kind of loads they are rated for. You are trying to upgrade here you want to reduce the effort your engine has to put out in order to rotate. This frees up HP, potentially quite a lot. Next look at what else rolls, your wheels. Get good high quality grease for your caliper bolts, the grease is a goldish color it's pretty expensive. Your hubs if they have a lot of miles get new ones. We are reducing the effort it takes your motor to get the car moving. These are things people don't think about that parisitically drain power. With Acura TLs which is what I'm driving you need to make the car lighter and get the engine to do less work to get moving. Going the other direction which is spend money on mods to increase HP has been done it's a terrible way to spend money. I think it works out to be $100 per HP at the wheel in the real world. Example get a new jpipe sets you back $600 or so and gains you under 10 usable HP. And you lose torque at the same time.. that's with a good jpipe, if you buy a cheap one you might not gain anything at all over stock. Making the car lighter and more efficient is the best way I'm telling you the truth.

    • @RevsALot
      @RevsALot ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Mike-qo4kp I'm all for reducing weight, I have lightweight wheels, no back seats, or spare tire, always drive with half tank or less, and getting racing seats soon. I had lightweight flywheel, went back to OEM(Spec Stage 3 Clutch broke), did more mods, and made about the same whp on the dyno as with the lightweight flywheel. So, lightweight pulley is same idea you will gain whp due to less rotating mass. Aftermarket for 4G TL isn't the biggest, so all we have is crankshaft pulley. The stock cats are the biggest restriction on the TL, very bottle necked.

    • @Mike-qo4kp
      @Mike-qo4kp ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RevsALot I gutted all three of my cats (3g) and tbh I'm not sure I gained much, if any, HP from doing it. And my exhaust smells at a good distance. I'd def recommend something other than gutted cats. I think the TL-S have good high flow cats stock. took out my rear seats and spare as well, sometimes also take out the passenger seat. These cars really notice every pound it seems.

    • @RevsALot
      @RevsALot ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Mike-qo4kp yes, gutting cuts won't do much, cause it's still the same narrow bottle necked piping. Aftermarket is definitely way more free flowing. Breather mods and weight reduction do wonders for the Jseries.

    hey man, i got a ktuner as well. and few other mods such as RV6 PCD, J pipe w/3rd cat delete, Cold air Intake. what did you set your RPM in Ktuner? i tried to set mine at 7800RPM, however when I hit that RPM I get a code for transmission over revving.

      Those are one of the best mods you have. I get that code too I just erase it also. My tuner set my rev limiter to 7600. It’s not safe due to the stock valvetrain and it can cause valves to float. It is risky

    • @johnnykwon8173
      @johnnykwon8173 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GarrettMedia I think it's over engineered to handle overclock. The stock valve springs are beefy as is. It's only with repetitive use maybe a teardown would be a good call. After some time of consistent use you could always upgrade.

    • @GarrettMedia
      @GarrettMedia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@johnnykwon8173 that makes sense. The consistent high rpm would cause accelerated wear and tear on the valvetrain so I would just have to keep up with the maintenance side of it 🤌

    • @johnnykwon8173
      @johnnykwon8173 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GarrettMedia I'd say the valve lash would go out of synch quicker. I forget, the J series is good for what, 120k miles before a adjustment is needed? At that time, if you really wanted to, you could upgrade the retainers and springs but that seems to me only necessary with competition cam. There are plenty of options for your type of setup.

    • @GarrettMedia
