Oasis have definitely become more admired by American musicians as a whole than they have by British musicians. British musicians might more often use Radiohead or The Verve or The Stone Roses as their gold standard from the last 30/40 years.
I'd say Oasis took the proverbial torch that The Stone Roses were carrying. If there really are any British musicians still finding success in that genre it would probably be the Arctic Monkeys as the most popular. They were massively influenced by Oasis. Lesser sized artists like Kasabian and Jake Bugg too.
As a yank I love British rock n roll. Beatles. Stones. Zep. The Smiths. Oasis, Pistols, Bowie...on and on and on, but the Roses? I could never quite get it. Even tried recently. “Adored”? Overrated. Yes, written by Noel, he owns them. He did everything. He composed the music, created the melodies and made backing tracks for each musician and showed them, literally, "It goes like this". He wrote all the lyrics and sat with the producer and engineer while making the albums white the other guys goofed off until Noel called them in for their bits. That is why Noel owns them, he is the only one who receives the publishing royalties and Liam can not perform them without Noel's permission and if Noel does give Liam permission, Liam has to pay Noel for singing HIS songs.

I feel that the reason Hawkins and the Foo Fighters said that there should be an Oasis reunion is because it was an easy way to get a British crowd on their side and Noel probably saw that and responded with saying the Foo Fighters should split up as it was a pretty cheap way of sympathising with the Reading crowd.

But because 'its 'rock'n'roll' he has to stick around? And as Taylor points out Noel has all the songwriting royalties so he doesn't need a reunion. Oasis broke up because Liam is a child that can't control his emotions (see also the accusations of DV).

@@thenewyearsgrinch To be fair Noel first broke Liam's guitar so Liam says. Also there all this underlying tension because Noel was making way more and wouldn't let Liam sell his gear at concerts. I've written a lot about this, but I come to the conclusion that this was a draw with no winners.

NoelPotatoVEVO yeah I’ve seen it so many times with big acts, they all have ex wife’s but I’ll give you a few examples: Guns and Roses, The Police, Rage against the machine, Smashing Pumpkins, Led Zeppelin were never going to tour again after Bonham but they did, but the best to last S club 7 yes they are back lmao.
