Your first photo of a city by the river looks familiar because it is remarkably similar to my City of ILOILO in the Philippines. Right in the middle of ILOILO CITY is rhe IloIlo River with its riverside and creekside Esplanades. Just like in Paris, the Iloilo River Esplanades are edged with beautiful redbrick-paved winding pathways on both its Left and Right Banks, edged with fragrant flowering trees and palm trees, flowerbeds, and greenery, and just perfect for strolling, sightseeing, jogging and biking activities. Especially enchanting are the afternoon sunsets at Esplanade 4, and across the waters is the Garden of Love. Nearby, rhe magnificent red spires and dome of the more-than-a-century-old gothic architecture Molo Church can be seen. In the afternoon, everybody sits at the edge of Esplanade 4 to watch the awesome colorful sunset. For mallgoers, shopping malls, restaurants, bakeries, hotels, spas, barbershops, bookstores, riverside cafes can be found. The allure of Iloilo City lies both in its old and modern facets. On one side of the city, defined by the clean and scenic Iloilo River, are the well-preserved Spanish and American heritage architecture in its buildings, grand palatial residential mansions, magnificent Spanish churches and cathedral, classic European belfries, turn-of-the-century fountains, well-maintained century-old Spanish and American era parks, plazas, public flower gardens, and riverside and creekside Esplanades. Well-curated Museums and Art Galleries abound in Iloilo City. Many if it's distinguished turn-of-the-century Spanish and American era heritage mansions and residences have opened their doors as heritage restaurants serving heirloom dishes. On the other side of the river is a completely different scenery - the modern side of the city. Iloilo City has recently been cited as the first and only UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy in the Philippines. The travel adviser Agoda as also recently cited ILOILO CITY as one of the top five Most Affordable Tourist Destinations in Asia. North of Iloilo City are the Gigantes islands, voted by Forbes Magazine as one of the 20 Most Beautiful Places in the World. Just 20 minutes away is islsnd of Guimaras with its clear blue waters and white sand beaches. Iloilo has also received the ASEAN Clean Tourist City Awardee 2020-2022. Iloilo City's annual DINAGYANG Festival has also recently been voted the Best Asian Folk Festival 2024. Iloilo City has been awarded as the most Bike-Friendly City in the Philippines. ILOILO CITY is the cleanest and most beautiful, walkable, and the most livable city in the Philippines.
