    Sir !!! Excellent video - I purchased the exact same rifle and caliber 3 months ago.. After a couple of different scope options - getting the rifle broken in. I love the rifle... I couldn't be happier with the result of my purchase. I have found that it prefers a slightly heavier grain bullet - I'm getting my best results between 62 and 71 grains. Typically most of my shooting is between 50 and 200 yards and it serves that purpose well. Thanx for your video. !!!!!! Mark C. The Old Guy In Texas :)

    I have a Ruger American Predator, Gen 1, in .308. It is the most accurate Rifle I own, and I own several high end .308s. I also have a Ruger American Ranch in 7.73 x 39. My go to Hog Gun. I've been impressed with Ruger American, so far.

    Really like this rifle for the price point. The gun metal cerekote is a great touch. Like the raised comb. Ruger should have left the "non" ranch model with the 22"barrel rather than cutting down to 20". Some really cool calibers coming out this year too on the gen 2!
    So tired of really nice rifles being put on the market today in 6.5 cm & .308 only.

      Yes, I love the new offering of calibers. My hope is they start to do varriations of the ruger american with different barrel lengths in coming years. Tikka has done things like this in the past.

    I haven't even touched one of these new Gen 2's yet. That being said, we all have seen many reviews on them by this point. My feeling is simple. This is a lot of rifle for as low as $520. My old Ruger American in 308 is a dadgum tack driver that has a 22 inch barrel. I wouldn't trade it for a brand spanking newer one because of the light weight and dependability. I just intentionally bought a Gen 1 American in 7mm-08. I love my Gen 1 .270 & 300 BLK. No issues with any of them. I do like (some) of the Gen 2's upgrades, having had a chance to check out a .308, but, the $200+ increase in price compared to some models of the Gen-1's is not worth it to me, fancy twisted barrel & all that. I will most likely get a Gen 2 .270 once they hit the gunshops and once supply is established & prices go south of MSRP, which was the entire point of the concept, cheap, effective, & nothing too fancy. These Gen 2's sort of missed that point.

      Longer barrels definitely have their place, but we're big fans of the shorter barrels for running with a suppressor. Their "Standard" Ruger American Gen2 has a 20" barrel over the 16" that the "Ranch" has, if length is what you're after.

    • @phillipardell5579
      @phillipardell5579 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Jesus, why? There's no velocity benefit with the cartridges it's chambered in due to faster burning powders. They're inherently less accurate due to less-stiff, whippier barrels. And who wants to lug around a magnum-length gun chambered for a non-magnum (considerably, in some cases) cartridges anyway? This is no .338 Win Mag. It's a ranch rifle, chambered in intermediate cartridges. All a knowledgeable shooter needs is a barrel length that maximizes the cartridge it's chambered in, which in this case is around the 16" legal minimum. .223, 300 BLK, 350 Legend, etc.

    I find it kind of amusing that a $200.00 jump in price,when the Gen. 1 started out at $300-350 price range,still makes this a “cheap”,plinking rifle! They improved the stock,l grant you,the first gen. Was not perfect, but it worked well enough. I never had a problem with the bolt smoothness,and though the cosmetics look nice,cutting 2in. off the barrel,and putting a muzzle brake on it,especially for a.223/556 is a bad joke! All it does is increase muzzle blast,and in larger calibers,cut velocity! Also,what is the latest big thing about “Cans”,or is it some kind of COOLNESS thing? You are paying BATFE 200.00 dollars for a “permit” to own something that you can not allow/ let anyone else use,and your name is on a list that lets Big Brother know what you got, and where to find you,if they ever want to take it!
