I know it's late in the game but... I personally use WD40 and a wire brush to clean the bulk grease off and then sand blast. A good bench grinder/buffer with a wire wheel can help too, especially for those parts you want to polish. I wet sanded all mine starting with 150/180 to remove heavy scratches then work my way to 240, 400, 800, 1000 and stop at 1500. The cutting compound I use removes scratches from 1200+. I have a couple abrasive grinding wheels that make short work of oxidization on forks and stuff. I'm going to powder coat my bike's frame. Best of luck!
I was going to say using the heat gun is a good way to heat up the metal and lets the paint set faster. I used that process on my 74 Honda Trail 70. and the Paint is still holing...
I looked over my patreon subscriptions and ended a different suscription to support you. I know it's only 4 bucks a month, but at least it's something!
a lot of work man, i did that also when i was young like you, but just let it al sandblasting, for the cost you can't do it yourself my opinion. time effort and materials used. you give it to the blaster, relax and pick it up 100% clean and rustfree. even such wire brush not always remove deep rust my expierience. and if you got another 70$ to spend just let it respray in black prof mostly some blasters do also powdercoating.
Please make sure and wear a real respirator even when grinding rust and paint, remember you want to do this for a long time, not just a quick flip. This is a TH-cam career for you, take care of yourself too.
I was waiting for the girlfriend who said earlier "whats that smell" to come out and say "why are you washing that thing next to my SUV" hahahaha (might not even be hers. good content man
People that wire their kickstand up probably also wear a belt AND braces. You see that protuding lug on the frame that locks the kickstand in place when down? Dang thing went right through to the bone on my left leg and broke my tibia. Still got the scar. I tell people it's shrapnel from Vietnam. ( Never admit to falling off your bike when doing a wheelstand ). Note: It's not a torsion bar. It what holds your brake hub in place. Without that, the hub will spin and wrap the cable around the hub and lock up your back wheel. Don't ask me how I know that. When petrol was cheap I cleaned everything with it. Best thing for grease and unidentified gunk. I brush painted the frame of my bike. Came out great but yeah, spray cans are the thing now. I love how meticulous you are but you should have replaced the swing arm bushes.
The frame paint is major improvement. It look much better.
Good work!
Before you do ANYTHING...
Get.
It.
Clean.
Everything is so much easier if you...
Get.
It.
Clean!
They tie it to the kickstand in case it comes off on the trail. That way, it won't get lost. DUDE, everything came out looking great!
looking good Once the fresh paint is on it is a big step
Sand blasting is good for removing dirt, paint, and rust on irregular parts like that. But good job, man. You are patient and persistent.
Gracias hermano este vídeo me ayudó un montón, saludos.
I was the one who said hi on ebay, awesome stuff man, an artist always struggles, but it makes you better.
Great work dude!! 💯💯🤘🤘

Nice, the frames always seem to be the hardest. It looks great though!
-I"m only doing the rusty spots. Proceeds to do the whole frame.
Yea you have to pay tax. Just playing 🤪. Keep up the hard work buddy.

That chain sludge is the worst, I opted to have my frame sand blasted. Washed/ degreased the swingarm way to many times before it all came off.
Wd40 and it wipes right off. Then degrease
I found a killer deal on ebay for a 6in bench vise. Only 67 dollars for an Olympia.

It probably has an active coal filter underneath the cotton filters. So there should be no worries.

Hi bro ts 185 ?
