The reason why Pang Tong dies in Romance of the three kingdoms was because Liu Bei has no right to take xi chuan from liu zhang then Pang Tong basically let the enemy kill him just to have a reason to let Liu Bei attack and conquer xi chuan.
Also he thaugt Zhuge Liang is jealous to him cuz Zhuge Liang revealed that bad thing will happen to pang tong, so pang tong want to proof himself but when preparation for the battle he is swicthing horse with Liu Bei. When Pang Tong came onto “fall of the pheonix” canyon, he got ambushed, Liu Zhang bowed him until death cuz he thaugt Pang Tong Is Liu Bei cuz he is riding Liu Bei’s horse

Pang Tong... a great man and strategist of Shu. I know all of these cutscenes. I just wish that he lasted longer than he did. He's one of the best characters in the DW series.

Guan Yu lost a Jing Province that was promised for return to Sun Quan, where Lu Meng merely sped up the deadline & unfortunately had to (and stupidly) execute Yunchang. Zhang Fei brought about his own death for repeatedly beating his officers even after Liu Bei told him to tone it down. With that, Sun Quan turned to a “boy” in Lu Jun that burned the Shu army to ashes upon reaching Xiaoting. The ultimate winner was Cao Pi, who saw his two enemies wage a war of attrition over spite.

Pang tong is a genius. He knows how liu bei has ambition to take shu land but feel so bad to take it from liu zhang. Thats why pang tong then has strategies to make liu bei ambition comes true. He borrows liu bei hex mark house and act as liu bei on front line so that liu zhang army guess that its liu bei and kill him. Then with pang tong death, liu bei has great reason to fight against liu zhang and conquer shu land.
He's was so non chalant when he died in the couple of scenes... But based on the movie his death could have been prevented... He predicted that it was gonna be a ambush since the reason why he took Liu Bei horse when he have avoided that region altogether. He was barely around for anything but love the character

As Liu Bei was the creator of "Shu (Han)" he is seen as a benevolent man who saved the people, his followers are all glorified as geniuses and masters who supported this humble peasant. In reality Liu Bei was a disastrous military mind who lost most of his battles, shown an extreme ambition for greater power and flitted between different leaders consistently losing any province he was given charge of. It's of no surprise Shu was the weakest of the Kingdoms and the quickest to fall.
I'll give this to 9, they at least tried, I much prefer the older games but the voice acting while not as good as the usual cast(referring strictly to the English Dub) isn't that bad, just poor direction and poor placement of the sound bites

So, when he crossed the path, there's a path name that bring unfortunate to pang tong's fate, yet somehow it's true. So when he realized his mistake, he shot down by ambush armies with arrows, so that's why pang tong dead.
