    That Moog Minitaur sounds incredible!

  • @dankeplace
    @dankeplace ปีที่แล้ว +11

I think it betters the Minitaur, I sold mine due to the lack of display and having to tether it to a PC to view patches.
Not bad sounding, just very same sounding with a limited ADSR function on the box.
I don't like tethering gear to PCs to have to get to their features.
Having access to 2 ADSR envelopes makes the Minilogue a much better option and then add the other features that are accessible on the front panel.

I just love the Moog filter too much.. But the real BASS question: Does it SLAP?
Must say it sounds really nice in the outtro by the way (although it's more of a lead demo if you ask me).

It might’ve been nice to compare against the Moog with the Minilogue’s sub engaged (which you get in Mono mode). Maybe that could make up for the difference? As someone who prefers the OG Minilogue over the XD, I should be happy to see this new incarnation of the OG, but the price is too high. Too close to the XD’s price.

Moog is Moog. And it's not "only" the reputation. In a sense of sound, I prefer here without any hesitation the Moog. The Korg is cleaner with less 'life" in it. This said, this Korg is a very good synth and excellent for the price. But this comparison is a bad one.

    • @imola8

I never understood the hype about Moog until i got a moog myself. Now i understand. It has that specific sound that i can`t really describe. Moog sounds like Moog. Doesn`t mean that Korg sounds bad, not at all, but i clearly prefer the Moog sound.

Great video chaps. I’m not sure about this though, it looks a bit like a budget XD to me to be honest. Ooft, just went and peaked the price. An uncharacteristically shady move from Korg here. And about as subtle as a flying brick. The XD, which I still desperately want, sounds thunderous in comparison and is a better synth with loads more features. Can’t see them shifting many old units repainted in tribal tattoos for that kinda money. ✌🏻 Edit - ok so they’re saying it’s a limited edition not a new synth so I can wind my neck in a little. Not all the way, that’s still wildly overpriced for what they’re offering here in my, ahem, humble opinion.

I would reconsider the thought of the XD being a better synth with loads more features than the OG/BASS. It actually lacks some of what made the Minilogue so good. Pros and Cons to both units and unfortunately, like most audio gear (def synths), you never get everything you want in one unit.
Only thing to do is buy them all. ;)

Can you explain, what makes the difference in sound between minilogue and minilogue bass.
I mean there are the same buttons to create the sound, but it sounds different.
It is the same thing with other synthesizer.
    They all do the same.
There is an Amp EG and envelopes, lfo and so on to shape the sound.

Not only does Korg not say anything like that, their marketing blurb (That Jack reads in the beginning of the video) easily allows the reader to assume there is new functionality here. It reads:
"Minilogue Bass is the evolution of the iconic Korg Minilogue into an all-analogue bass powerhouse. An expandable poly-synth that retains the hands-on control and immersive playability of the original, Minilogue Bass drops deep, dark, thunderous low-end for cutting production-ready bass."
