Hey Tim, I got a Black Splitter for my Kx080. Money well spent. Sit in the cab listening to radio and rip threw them rounds. Bought me a few years before next back surgery lol. I enjoy your videos 👍
Tim you just let him work hard all by himself!! Love the log splitter!! As a kid my dad and brothers used the axe and I used the hatchet to make kindling!!
That's how we heated the house as well. My uncle would drop a tri-axle of wood off. I never had a gas saw, I had an electric saw. Can't tell you how many motors and bushings I went through. And never a power splitter. Always by hand, and always with a maul. I was huge by the time I was 9. It was just my Mom and I, and she worked, so it was my job to do wood.
Ashley wood stove kept my family warm for a long time used to cut and split wood after school till I moved out. Seemed like we cut wood all the time grown up been nice to have one of those splitters
He's giving it a go. He's a good kid, take it easy on him...lol I remember having to split them the old fashion way, good chore for a cold winter day; you still had to shed clothes....you know what I mean....thanks for the video.
When I was a kid we had to split wood by hand after school before we even did homework. If you weren’t splitting wood, you were stacking it or carrying it in. Didn’t hurt me a bit, believe it or not my wife and I heat or house with wood now. I still like to cut firewood now.
I sure loved them days I used to sell firewood. I go thru 250 cords a season . Hard work but the money sure was good. I had to give it all up . Due to heart problem . And I live in the Philippines now. Stay safe out there sir. Love ya videos.
We burned wood growing up too. My dad and I would go in the woods cut it haul and it home with horses until I was in my early teens then we started using ATV’s. I’m at it myself now I usually cut & haul 9 or 10 cords to heat the house
Tim I’ve heated my house primarily with wood the last 20 years. I like to work up big trees. It seems if you have a big saw and know how to use it the jobs find you. I have a 36” bar on a Stihl 660 and I work up lots of storm blow downs that I get because not many have a saw that size. I take those big rounds and noodle them with the chainsaw in fourths to get on the splitter easier. Work smarter not harder
If you ever need a cross reference for a hydraulic filter on the county line 25 ton it's 84252 Carquest/Wix . Napa might could probably tell you what's cross reference filter is in Napa. But I can't tell you right off top my head. I know they're both wix filters though. We're slowly adapting the hydraulic lines from metric to standard. As they bust. I split 400 to 450 full cords Last year for buddy of mine that owns a tree service. He sold all but maybe 20 cords. And those will be sold this week & next has has the demand has been here in the last couple of weeks. I too had two wood burning stoves to feed when I was growing up too and clean them out also I understand where you come from Tim.
Good afternoon. Hunter get some money saved up, look into Eastonmade or Wolfe Ridge. Eastonmade is out of Ontario Canada and Wolfe Ridge out of Eau Claire WI. Both are Commercial splitters. Tall as you are Eastonmade has a Axis,it's vertical. Be mindful of the Pressure and Return lines they're prone to internally fail. Father and Brother in Law's both gave up the ghost 3hrs in 1st day,the line's. Their's are 35 ton. Be safe everybody.
I have a 3 x 3 foot piece of counter top with Formica, notched out to clear the plate, the same thickness as base plate. Easier to slide the block, but I hate getting on the ground to split. It may be easier to 1/4 those with saw, or saw and maul, then lift them to stand up and split.
Those splitters do need a bigger base plate , I’ve always wondered why they didn’t and the only thing I could figure it would upset the balance of the machine when towing it and not have enough tongue weight.
Last time I split wood the temp was in the low 30’s and I had stripped off my coat and shirt, had sweat pouring down me, the neighbor came by to tell me I was crazy and that I had steam rising off me. Ended up splitting enough to last the rest of the year, that was 20+ years ago, don’t want to swing a splitting maul again. Y’all have a good weekend, feed Hunter a good 🥩 steak
Every boy should have to grow up in a wood heated home, and splitting wood by hand. I have no idea how many cords I split as a young man. Let's just say I have piles of character. 😬
I wouldn't say the tree rotting is a waste. It all goes back to the soil. In nature, everything is used and has a purpose. You probably don't remember your dad splitting wood. My guess is he did when you were very young.
I know it be more manual work, but why not quarter it with a maul or ax instead of trying to destroy his back? Been there, done that. I learned to make it smaller, but then again we have a different style splitter my grandpa built. That’s what my parents have is an old Ashley wood burner, it get the living room 85 degrees.
Tim, thats a bit mean of you as I would have thought that you might have brought Hunter some pallets to stack those pieces on so that they could be loaded and stacked with your tractor or even the bucket on the loader so that they might be tipped on to a trailer to be hauled.
Hunter needs a lesson in economics about free heat with wood, chainsaw or 2 chains gas oil, truck, trailer, splitter and all of his time. Thank you very much, I would rather pay for insulation and a small energy bill every month and spend my time doing other more enjoyable activities. Yes I've payed my dues and as good as a fire feels its dirty and all hard work. That wet red oak will explode when hit with an axe once the temp drops to about -10 f, just wait for a nice windless sunny day and get to work
I’ll be honest id have just stole the key to the mini and been using it before ya got down to film me. Boys gotta work smart not hard all them tools you have to help save the ole body.
I have to hand it to Hunter. Many kids his age wouldn't work that hard or stick with the job.
A good title for this video would be "Tormenting the Future Son in Law".💪🏻🤣
Tim, thats why momma always said " wood heats you twice " !!

Great. Keep the work up Hunter 💪

That was kinda hateful 😂. That made some good looking firewood. Great video
Whenever we have rounds that size we rip them in half with the chainsaw, sometimes quarters if they are really big. Easier to handle
Same here work smarter not harder
Go-devil is what we call a maul here in NC!
We burned wood growing up too. My dad and I would go in the woods cut it haul and it home with horses until I was in my early teens then we started using ATV’s. I’m at it myself now I usually cut & haul 9 or 10 cords to heat the house
Great video Tim say hello to hunter
Good man Hunter, thats a nice log splitter:):)
Never give anyone the power to take away your joy.
Hello there Tim and CT3 family ✌️👍
Tim

I bet he won't volunteer again!!!😂😂😂😂
When i used split wood with a log splitting I used a small piece of plywood to use for a base plate. That helps a lot

He was getting it tho. My dad would do the same thing. He'd get him a block and work the splitter while I wrestle the chunks over to the splitter.
He's doing a good job without any help.
Nice job hunter 👍
Splitting up 34’’ Red oak last few days. The weight for one 34’’ log was 405 lps.
Would have been nice having a log splitter like that growing up. It sure beats the maul, sledge hammer and wedges on that oak.
Last time I split wood the temp was in the low 30’s and I had stripped off my coat and shirt, had sweat pouring down me, the neighbor came by to tell me I was crazy and that I had steam rising off me. Love wood heat plus the smell of wood smoke
What did you do with ash have used some in garden poor guy might be a little sore 😢
Take the Kubota and drop the teeth of bucket and split the wood in half. Make Hunter work. Good video. Have a great day be safe
How many cuts did he get off that 32in lol nice rounds of red oak
Cotton, did you ever catch those bastards who was messing with your trail cams? That crap still pisses me off.
Laughing away lol them mauls make ya work I tell you what
Tell him to get after that Oak with a Double Bit on a 31 inch Hickory Handle
Tim it looked like he crapped his pants
2:36 looks like wood was to heavy. Total torment from future father. Great video. What ton splitter is that?
Every boy should have to grow up in a wood heated home, and splitting wood by hand. I have no idea how many cords I split as a young man. Let's just say I have piles of character. 😬
I have a Central boiler and I love it I'm in southern Ohio I put wood in it once a day it saves me money
I could use a few/ 20 loads of stuff like that down in meridian.
Good to see a young man want to work. Go buckeyes
I wouldn't say the tree rotting is a waste. It all goes back to the soil. In nature, everything is used and has a purpose.

A 2 Wheel Hand Dolly on Tubeless Tires,, Would help him from having to move the splitter so much....

Looks like he sat in some mud lol.

Ten years ago I would have worked circles around that splitter with a good Mall
That may be true. A lot depends on the type of tree you are splitting. Some trees split open easily. Some will fight you even with the best mall.
That is very true but if cottontop was right about that being red oak and that straight grain splits easy slapping it off the sides
where's the axes haha lol
I cut 4 cords for my mother & spilt it with a log spilter
Is that white oak
why is hunter splitting the wood so small?....
Those clear rounds would split ez with a 9 # maul to put the splitter to the test try sweet gum or pecan
Hunter should go in with you and buy a hydraulic screw splitter to run on your mini. Nothing better than tormenting the daughters boyfriend!
But good straight grain red oak should be split with a maul!
I would wager most folks who own a splitter like that never test it to the extent that is getting!!
