Higher you get that rope in the tree the more leverage pulling you will have . Get ya rope through the crotch on the top . Can’t reach that far then get a spool of string and tie a 3/4 socket to it . Throw the socket with the string attached up threw the crotch then tie ya rope onto the string and pull it up threw . Send that rope through a snatch block and over to the Tractor . With that widow maker and it being a soft tree you wana be cutting that on the ground not up in the air . Notch it back cut it then use the tractor to pull it over . I had a tree service for 12 yrs an did this stuff every day so figured I throw ya some tricks of the trade . Stay safe Heath and if ya gona go up 15 ft to cut it get it on video .
3/4" or 20mm socket😉😅with a 5/8" bull rope over the crotch and base tied and try a pretension to see if the top blows out before cutting, he did mention it being Basswood always pays to have someone that is smooth on the tractor clutch.
Thanks Phil. My concern with getting the rope up through the crotch is that the tree looks dead/dying up top. Definitely abandoning the Ibc tote lift strategy though. Appreciate the tips!
Hey folks. I picked up my box wedge in Michigan today. That dude has some very impressive stuff. Beast mode machines. Thanks for telling me about Bobby. Ordered a table while I was there. When I use a stock saw I'm like this sucks. Just the fun factor makes it worthwhile. I kinda feel sorry for people who haven't experienced a good work ported saw.
Why do my rounds are cutting crooked instead of straight like yours. Is it the power of the saw or am i forcing it. I just cut for personal use so I'm no pro at all.
It could be a few different things. One could be how the chain is sharpened or un even rakers. Your bar may need to be dressed or re squared up. Or the channel the chain runs in may be wearing out getting too wide. To see if the bar needs to be dressed take it off and see if it will stand up straight on a flat surface. You can get a bar dressing tool on Amazon pretty cheap or may need a new bar. Hope this helps.
People don't like tulip poplar, but if dried down properly, it can make some really nice campfire wood. Also, my inlaws burn it in their kitchen wood stove so that it doesn't overheat the room.

Hello, there. We're really enjoying watching your videos so far. We're new to your channel. So this is the second one we've watched the first 1 we watched. Was about a load of ash. With that, you got this change all that you're working with? And this video seems to be a real Beast. Could you tell us what type of chainsaw? It is, and if it's available to buy at some point, thank you, sir.😊😊😊
Heath...One of the great tragedies in the chainsaw world was Makita buying Dolmar. IMHO Dolmar made by far the most ergonomic. best power-to-weight, ease of operating, smoothest running saws ever. Their start/stop/choke switch design is without a doubt the best ever. I have a slightly modified 5105S and with .325 Narrow Kerf Husky 33G chain it will run circles around my 362 running 33RS chain. It is so smooth and light it is my go-to saw for up to about 18" wood. I always wanted a 7900 but just didn't do that much big wood. Keep up the good work. Have you thought of getting a 16 ounce throwball and some throwline to get a line much higher than climbing a ladder? Much safer. Or better yet, find a climber that does side work and for a couple hundred bucks he would put the line high in the tree for you and cut it while you are pulling. Safest and most cost effective method.
Thank you. I had considered the throw ball but the tree looks rotten up top so I’m trying to stay below that. The 7900 is a beast! Definitely sad that they’re no longer made.
I/we our oldest son use Archer chains. He started off with 25 feet of chain and then it was my turn. We are now up to the 100 foot rolls. We don't have to run our chains till they are super dull, that, I feel also should be easier on the saw. Just my thoughts.

I'm in the market for a new to me at least tractor. I have a blown motor on my Kubota D3650 with loader. I know you changed size of your tractor and want some feed back on the capabilities of the tractor you have now, and what that tractor is for sure.
Jeff this is the Kioti NS6010. I had the Kioti RX7320. I do miss the lift capacity and self leveling bucket of the bigger tractor. But this one is still plenty capable at nearly 3,000lbs. Be careful cutting the tulip tree especially if you are going to be in an ibc tote lifted up by the tractor. There is no where to run if the tree comes towards you. I would not advise doing that option.
Cutting that tree in a basket on the tractor at height is dangerous because you have no way of getting out of the way when you cut. It only makes sense if you can do it, topping the tree ie cutting branches and sections from the top of the tree
