    I would love to be able to get everything from an entire collection at one time. Because it is so expensive here in Canada I usually just get the paper and occasionally the ephemera. I do lots of fussy cutting for embellishments like you. It would be so much fun to sit and organize like you but then I may never use the stuff because I would always be admiring it. Lol. I did learn that cutting your packages on the side is much better then from the top. Thank you for that great tip!

      @lauraalbertscrafts  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have found myself much happier to buy from just a few of my favorite brands rather than bits and pieces from all over (then trying to make them work together). I rarely get the entire collection, usually the papers and the stickers/ephemera. This collection I got from a Design Team, so I got more than I usually do. Glad it was helpful!

    Some great tips here! Being in the U.K. I never can afford a full collection so quite often fussy cut to stretch what I do buy. I tend not to keep the collections together as by the time I’ve finished with them there’s so little left that what is left I store in colour folders so I can easily pull my own kits together. Any embellishments get stored in separate boxes for each colour. Thanks for sharing your great ideas!

    • @lauraalbertscrafts
      @lauraalbertscrafts  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you, Becky! That's completely understandable. I think whatever system you use has to be intuitive to how you scrapbook. I don't think of things by color, I think of them by designer. My brain knows each of my favorites' styles and color schemes by memory, so I can find them more quickly that way. It makes so much sense to go by color though!

    Oh my goodness this collection is gorgeous; I need to try to track it down. I agree re: the 6x6 pack in this case; easier to use as embellishments.
    I like that slit idea. I have never see it before. :)
    I may have a slight obsession with organizational ideas. :) ;)

    This was awesome! Thank you for sharing your process. I'm not a fan of fussy cutting but I like the way you separate your papers out and store them after they are cut. Maybe I will try that with the next collection I bring in.

      So glad it was helpful, Patricia! I really like to be able to pull out a full kit or collection with ease and make a quick page. Searching for all the bits and pieces around my craft room often stopped me from crafting!

    I love the idea of opening each sticker pack on one side. I usual end up with the packages being ripped open lol! I organize by collection until I don't have enough left to do anything with, then I organize by colour. I have way too many supplies to remember the colours of all my collections.

    • @lauraalbertscrafts
      @lauraalbertscrafts  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! Cutting open the side makes it easy to slip things in and out, but still keeps it together.

  • @cristinareiser5447

    Fascinating! I find myself being the odd man out because I buy kits and collections, but as soon as i get them, I split them up and organize all my supplies by category. I have found that when I try to work from a kit, I end up not liking all the matching/ repetitive elements and grab stuff from my neatly organized categories most of the time anyway. I also rarely make traditional scrapbook layouts. I do memory planning, creative journaling, project life I'd like to start doing more scrapbook-y pages which is why I'm here....and I'm looking around my space thinking, but I've separated all my collections!!!! aaaaaahhhhh!!!! lol I also find that I will never ever ever remember what I have if I store things away in collections and in drawers or bins like that. Anyhoo, just my two cents for what's it's worth.

    • @lauraalbertscrafts
      @lauraalbertscrafts  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can absolutely still sort that way! Put together your own kit of mixed bits and pieces that look like they go together to you, that’s all I do in my DIY kits.

    This was neat! I also don’t buy collections.Im mostly paper pads, individual stickers or die cuts, some newer small kits and the mountain of so much variation I’ve collected through many years...trying to incorporate old stuff to get rid of it!!! Mostly stored by themes.
    I’ve just recently started creating my own kits, pulling from a hundred different areas of the stash.... that has made a huge difference, to take a day and do prepared kits...same idea🥰

    OMG Laura Great Organization Ideas. It was fun to see how you store all of your kits and or new collections. I do store my things differently because I don't buy kits or collections. I keep all my papers and or pads (12 x 12) in 12 x 12 iris boxes and have then labeled with contents. I have the JoAnns stands which snap together that you slide the iris containers into.. some of them are stacked and sit on the floor and i have many on shelves because the stands to pop apart so you can have the spaces hooked together and just put on shelving. sooo there ya go and all my dies I have a different storage system....I have the Anna Griffin Magnetic binders and have all my dies of Miss Emma's dies in those and they are labeled for catagory too...and so on my Tim Holtz Die I have in his plastic envelopes and in pull out drawer which are labeled to catagory and so on....TFS this was fun and fun too as I read the different comments to see what they do!! Thanks again YOU SO ROCK!!
    Oh for my printing of my labels I have a Brother Personal printer and use that.
    HUGS,
    Joan Smith

      So glad you shared your storage ideas! I love seeing how everyone stores their supplies! We are all different types of scrappers, that's for sure! I generally use mostly open storage because I need to see things to find them easily. I do often buy most of a collection from my favorite brands, so storing them together makes sense. If you buy a lot of separate bits and pieces, that wouldn't work!

    • @MsSuperklutz
      @MsSuperklutz 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lauraalbertscrafts Your Share ideas are awesome and I totally agree that if your bought things separately you'd forget about them. I make my embellishments using Cricut Design Space or I use my dies....and many times I play and create embellishments because *as you know* we all know what pics we will be scrapping and then extra things I make I have a 12 x 12 PL Binder *cause I never did PL* That I have page protectors in the normal 12 x 12 and put the things i make on 12 x `12 cardstock and have them in there to grab....so we all have fun doing the same thing differently and I think this is spectacular...and I get tons of inspiration and ideas from everyone and I feel so lucky about that!! But I'm working on making kits to go with photos so that I can scrap faster when I'm ready tp scrap. I am such a slow scrapbooker I'm hoping this will help. Any tips on how to scrap faster? Thanks again. Love your work!

    • @lauraalbertscrafts
      @lauraalbertscrafts  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you very much! Preparing your kits ahead of time is a great way to scrap faster, it doesn't have to be a collection. I do all my fussy cutting ahead of time, organize into the Fjalla organizers, and go through the kit to get a good feel for what's in it. You could also make page kits ahead of time for certain photos. I don't do those very often, but I know Nicole Jones here on TH-cam does!

    Hi Laura. This was a very helpful. I enjoy all your videos! I do have a question... I hope you have an idea to help me with something. I have been scrapbooking for many, MANY years and have quite a stash of supplies. I have some health challenges and sometimes can’t get to my art room but I try to use that time to fuzzy cut (and sometimes back cut files). I have been fussy cutting a LOT of pocket life cards & random papers (probably more than I will ever use- but it gives me something to do!). My question to you is how to store all these little items- small word phrases, icons, flowers, etc so I can see what I have and can access them and actually use them. Thanks for your input. I really appreciate it. I would have emailed you but I couldn’t find an email address.

    • @lauraalbertscrafts
      @lauraalbertscrafts  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you, Julie! I put my fussy cutting into sandwich bags so that I can see what I have and keep it all together. Another idea is to keep the packaging from stickers and die cuts (the clear bags) and use those! I hope that was helpful! Sometimes, just doing a little bit of crafty things like making DIY embellishments, fussy cutting, or (like you said) backing cut files can keep your mind busy now and will make your scrapping more dynamic (and easier!) later!

      @@lauraalbertscrafts Thanks. I do put things in bags when I cut several from a sheet of paper. I hang those on my IKEA peg board so I can see what I have. I’m just struggling with all these little phrases & tidbits where I only have 3-4 that get lost in the shuffle because I have so many of those now. Maybe I can figure out a way to group them in categories. Thanks for your help.

      I pull collections out every once in a while, but not as often as I should. I try to rotate collections and if I find I'm not really reaching for one for quite a while, I'll break it down and put it into my stash kit supplies, so it will get used. I do have a plan for 2022 though that will have me pulling out those collections much more often!
